As usual James and his team are excellent hosts . They organised airport transfers , ski hire , restaurant bookings and are alway on top of the skiing info . With soup and cake post skiing , and great local knowledge, you can’t go wrong.

Was recommended the Avalon by a friend in Sofia. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome and at home. James is a great host and has a wealth of advise on what to see, where to eat and drink and how to get the best out of your time in Bansko.Dani and the team at the hotel do a great job and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and the afternoon tea and soup is always very welcome. We also did the curry night which was brilliant - great food and company and very good value for money. From someone who has been in travel business for 40 years, the Avalon is one of the nicest, best run hotels I have ever been too. Kudos James and Dani and will definetly come back.

Haven't stayed in the hotel, but have eaten here a number of times. James is an absolute pleasure, nothing is too much trouble, and he's always happy to chat. I have been to Monday Night Supper Clubs, Cocktail Tuesdays, Curry Thursday and Fridays, and I wouldn't hesitate to go again. Highly recommended.

Friendly, relaxed, ideally located for old town or access to the gondola. Superb food, whether it's the home made sourdough bread with breakfast, the afternoon soup and cake or the curry or dinner night. James is very knowledgeable about skiing, walking, other attractions in the area etc and keen to help. Very understanding of family and children, home from home. We'll definitely be back. Thank you James and team 👍

Hotel Avalon is positioned well for the main town and the old town. In a residential area, where people keep dogs outside, so you do get the odd barking session. It is owned and run by James, who knows most people, places and is a font of information to help you get the best from your trip. There are about 15 rooms set over 3 floors, with no lift, but large spiral case. Our room, (33) had a balcony and nice view. The rooms are well equipped with kettle, hair dryer, tv and wifi access. The bathroom is a wet room style. This is completed with plenty of storage and a sofa to relax on. James, seems to look at ideas to keep things fresh and currently hosts a curry night, fine dining night and cocktail night, all of which are comparative to going out, but excellent and recommended by us and need pre booking ideally, so they go ahead. Breakfast is cold continental style, with afternoon homemade cake and soup served from about 4pm. James can arrange, taxis, on site massages and spa visits. Along with offering a shuttle bus to the ski hire shop/gondola. James and his staff were great hosts and we would not hesitate a return visit.
