Great place, great location. The apartment could do with a little tlc and a few little things like cupboards handles fix,but for 2 couples was great and the spa facilities are lovely. Great location and staff super helpful. Will use again on our next visit
I arrived at the Saint George Hotel at the end of February, and stayed until March 7 and it was snowing enough to cover a car. It was snowing all the time and it was super beautiful. The hotel was nice, clean, and very warm in the room. The only problem was with the opening of the windows in the room, which have a very strange opening system and upside down from us, otherwise the room was very clean, and it was cleaned almost daily. I had half board, and in the morning at breakfast, I received the same food every day (I stayed 7 days), I was already fed up with the same food (egg, boiled egg, beans, mushrooms, pancakes, milk, cereals, bacon), but in the evening at dinner they changed the menu a little, but not much. In the evening he didn't offer us anything to drink, you had to buy from the bar if you wanted a juice, a water (a juice was 3 levs, a water 2 levs), a little crazy like that, but we managed. What's great about the hotel is that they had a bus that took you to the gondola, and it came pretty fast and it moved pretty fast. The slopes in Bansko are absolutely gorgeous, long, wide, only good to show your talent on the slope.…
So, let's start with the positive aspects: - We arrived at 14:00 there and the rooms were ready. We got the room very quickly and everything was clean, cosy and warm. - We had one Studio and we expected something small for two people. But the room was huge, bigger than most of the rooms you will find in Bansko for the same price (we paid 480 Euros for 7 nights (2 people) with half board. The view of the room was wonderful as well, as we had the windows to the mountains, in the morning it was an unique view. The studio has everything you need for two people: fridge, sink, glasses, plates, cups, etc. - We came with our personal car and the parking is huge so there is no need to worry about the parking. There is also one underground parking (limited) where you can park your car if you want to avoid the snow or for any other reason. - Near the parking there is a HUGE ski room in order to deposit your skies and boots. - The breakfast is really really good. If you go in the morning at 7:30 when it opens, everything is hot, the food is fresh, and a lot more possibilities than you would normally eat for breakfast. The coffee is made from beans, orange/apple/cherry juice (not fresh, but really decent). - The spa is very large, clean as the hole hotel is. The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steambath have the right temperature, maybe the jacuzzi should be a little hotter, but it depends on the person. You get new towels every time you go to the spa. Bathrobes and slippers are provided in each room which is a big advantage. - The shuttle bus to the gondola and back is very on time, we did not have any problem when we used it. We did not use it every day as it was pretty crowded and we went skiing with the car sometimes. - The internet is working pretty well as long as you are not trying to download movies or something similar. - The room towels where changed every day and the blankets each 3 days even after the second change we would have got only one more night to stay. Now, let's talk about some negative aspects that should not be in a 4 star hotel: - First of all, the heaters from the ski room for your boots are not working......why would you make a 100 slot heater if it is not working? You have to take your boots in the room in order to warm them. - The underground parking is sometimes like a deposit. Everything is smelling like they are building the hotel right now, but I guess that is not a problem, you just stay like MAXIMUM 10 minutes in the garage. - The dinner is pretty much not what it should be. If you have medium preferences, you will always have what to eat. In the 7 days that we stayed there, we had each day something new, which is great, but the food is COLD, really really COLD and is awful to eat cold food after a day of skiing. Also, there is NO drinks included.....as it is in the hole Bansko...with the exception of few hotels. - Some COVID regulations are not respected as they should be. Even if the employees are wearing masks, the people are not required to wear, actually NOBODY does. - The sauna rules are not respected. There is a post where it says that you MUST have a towel with you in the dry sauna, which is normal.....but very few people respect it. It is awful for a person to stay in the sauna and all the sweat drip on the wood where you are staying and then the next person sits in the same place. You should not be allowed to enter the sauna without a towel. ' Over all, for 240Euros/Person - 7days / Half Board I would rate this hotel as 4 out of maximum 5. It is a very very good deal for this price.…
A group of 11 of us rented two, three bed apartments and one studio. Really impressed with this hotel, your own space to chill and use the spa but also a great breakfast and easy to walk into town. We would stay here again for longer next time, highly recommend.
Nice hotel, surrounded by a forest with scenic views, warm reception and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast and a nice room service. The apartments are very big and come with a fully fitted kitchen. The hotel has its own ski rental shop and a regular shuttle service to the gondola lift. We’d love to stay there again!
The hotel is quite nice with a wonderful reception area, has its own ski rental and a shuttle to the ski lift. The food was tasty and the staff were very welcoming. The apartments are very bright, spacious and warm. Highly recommend!
We recently stayed as part of a skiing holiday with Balkan Holidays and must say the quality of food leaves a lot to be desired, if you like cold breakfast (cold beans, egg, bacon, sausage, etc) you will love it but I guess most people do like there food to be warm! The dinner buffet was no better, if you like eating the same food for 5-6 days on the trot, and of course cold / lukewarm - you will love it. I have done school ski trips all over Europe and in all honesty I have had better quality meals on such occasions than this derisory offerings. Despite raising the issue of poor quality, cold food with hotel and Balkan Holidays we were just passed off, with the usual, we will raise this with restaurant..... nothing was done to resolve such complaints. As for facemasks - it is no use having signs up asking all guests to wear facemasks and not controlling social distancing in the dinner area / when walking from dinner to table area, it was very sad to see how laxed they were and was a "free for all" at buffet area with no control, no social distancing, no masks being adhered or worn. (as well as kids touching food, using fingers to pick things up, etc) If I did return (highly unlikely) I would stay self catering only and enjoy the local restaurants that welcome you with open arms, offer fresh, local produce all at a decent price.…
We spent four nights at St. George Palace and we'd like to share with you the overall experience so you don't get yourself fooled the way we did. We booked a two bedroom apartment which was nice, spacious enough for four people and clean. The housekeeping was flawless, the cleaning ladies were so nice they even washed our dishes. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to and from the ski slope which we found very useful given that we traveled during the ski season. The biggest disappointment of the trip was certainly the Gala Dinner they organized on Dec, 31st. This is the reason why we considered the hotel deserves this score, as we find very important the responsiveness of the staff to its clients. My friends and I were the second group to arrive at the New Year's party, yet the last ones to receive the main course. We received it at 23:20, so only 40 mins before the fireworks, after every single other guest had already finished their meal. We went to the reception to complain, we kindly pointed it out to the waiter, but only after we started to lose our patience they brought us something to eat. And when I say "something", it is because you can't even call that food a meal. The food was cold, the meat was very fatty and the vegetables were not boiled enough. One of our friends received the meal from another table (although I'm completely sure they won't admit it, in case any of the hotel representatives would like to intervene). We know this happened because the waiter assured us the chicken was finished and 5 minutes after we started complaining, they came with the meal. Of course it was cold. And it was only half of the normal portion. The day after, we went again to the receptionists and complained about the way we were treated. We didn't only spoke for ourselves, as we noticed other people were also bothered about the poor quality of the service during the festive dinner. The feedback we received was that the manager supervised the process, thus he knows that the food had been served before 22:30. Like we were liars... Of course we didn't get a refund for the Gala dinner. We only got a 20% discount for the extra services (which was the massage), so it was almost nothing. We paid a lot of money for this festive dinner, which is why we strongly advise you not to take it in case you choose this hotel for New Year's party. There are many good options downtown, for sure more affordable. Furthermore, the hotel is at a walking distance from the center (15 mins to the gondola), the most animated part of Bansko. We noticed that many people chose this option, instead of paying additional money for the Gala Dinner. The only reasons we gave two stars instead of one were the housekeeping and the massage (which was really good btw).…
Im here on holiday with my family as always in August and this year we have reserved the special apartment ATTICO with 4 bedrooms. It's really beautiful, 135 sqm. with a wonderful mountain view from the 5th floor and private Jacuzzi on the principal terrace. The Staff is always very kind with us and we suggest to try to visit this Hotel. Special thanks to the reservation office and to the Receptionist. Always at Top Level.
We missed the scheduled 16:30 shuttle bus from ski lift gondola to hotel and kindly asked for the hotel to call us a taxi to transport us to hotel and they refused. They insisted we call ourselves and gave us the taxi telephone number . Cause i didn't have a pen it was difficult to memorize the number so i didnt manage to reach the taxi company. Luckily we where near Kepinski Hotel and the receptionist there was kind enough to arrange a taxi for us.
