Just came back from Bansko The hotel is excellent, the buffet at breakfast and dinner too, rooms are comfy , clean and warm enough. The only negative thing was that the passage from the pool to the sauna was a bit cold and you had to go out from the unit where you stay to reach the spa ( though not a big problem considering all the positive things this hotel has)

St John Hill in Bansko is a big complex of hotel and private owned appartments. The first thing I remember as we entered our building was litter in the elevator. The elevator has not been cleaned untill the day e left(we stayed for 2 nights) and the corridors were dark as there weren't any lights.
Regarding our room,it was decent sized with a small living room,a bathroom and a kitchenette(everything was pretty modern),but everything got bad when we turned on the radiator and after a while and it started leaking water(The hotel provided us with electric radiators). Also there was a fireplace which you couldn't use.The balcony was dirty and the window in the bedrrom was utterly disgusting as there was dirt or something similar on it and as we noticed almost every window in this hotel hasn't been cleaned for a while.Adding to housekeeping department,we found garbage of the visitors before us in the bin and the bathtub hasn't been cleaned properly.
Later on,we visited the spa.The changing rooms and pretty much every space in the spa was left on it's own,as one could find forgotten slippers and towels all over the place. The jacuzzi was cold, the sauna was not hot enough and the pool was empty(we have been told that there was a hole in the pool).
In the restaurant we had good service by Vasilis, even though the food was pretty mediocre(We had halfboard). Our dinner was OK,except the bread, which was stale everyday and breakfast was an issue. The milk for the cereal was hot,the omelette had a very strange taste and the sausauges were difficult to chew.
Finally,it is worth mentioning that the phone in the rooms was not functioning(so you had to walk all the way to the reception if you wanted anything)neither did the TV.The technician came over, put a cable in our tv,saw that the tv couldn't work and just left, without saying anything.
All in all,it was at least dissapointing

What a horrible experience, the hotel isn't finished and the staff are rude....

None of the restaurant staff speak English which made it very interesting when trying to order breakfast or dinner

Food was just mediocre, nothing special and by the looks of the small kitchen it would never be suitable to cater for the size of the hotel

Swimming pool was cold

Jacuzzi was cold

Spa was non operational

They had a shuttle bus and a bus timetable but no point in paying any attention to it as it never ran on time, one evening we had to pay for our own taxi back to the hotel

When complained to the manager he couldn't really care less

There are lots of other hotels in Bankso, don't waste your money staying at St John Hill...

(All of the positive comments on Trip Advisor have been left by the staff at the hotel)

Response from meminime, Eigenaar at St. John Hill Bansko Ski & Spa Resort
Responded Jul 15, 2016
We are sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience. We have had many satisfied guests but understand we can't get a 5-star review from everyone. The Hotel consists of individual apartment units (studio, 1-bed, 2-bed) and some of the apartments are individually owned. Each have their own kitchen so a lot of owners and guests decide to cook for themselves. The restaurant capacity is therefore enough for the number of guests we serve. We welcome any suggestions to improve our menu and have relayed your concerns to the chef. I will contact the pool staff regarding your complaint about the temperature of the pool. We've had the pool area renovated by the start of the new season but apparently things are not running that smoothly yet.

This Hotel has something to say. Staff is the most friendly in the area. Rooms modern new and well equipped. Hotel is clean everywhere and the maid service very efficient.Breakfast at its best (well done Chef), dinner also (book with HB is a life saver). Whatever you want do not hesitate to ask from the staff. Also book a massage. Well done to the Manager for doing such a good job. We will be back soon.....

We just came back from Bansko and St.John Hill after 3 days of relaxing holidays. The rooms are big enough for a family and the kitchenette help us with the preparation of our baby food. Breakfast room is cozy and modern, service great and food is fine. Breakfast buffet has anything and if something is missing ask it from the always smiling staff. Dinner enough for everybody and great service. Reception is well informed about the area. We will be back definitely on February for ski.

Apologies for the massive late response, but just to add to the answers. There was no kettle in ours either, but it's worth asking the reception or if you're curious calling the hotel up in advance to see if they provide.
