We had four families including kids ranging from 4+ to 11. They have 5 tents with attached bathrooms. The accommodation is good, clean and adequate. The tents are well covered from the elements with good connections for electricity. The only negative thing I can comment is that having one more fan during the day would be good. Nights were lovely and a little chilly. The rooms are quite spacious and can easily accommodate a good sized third bed if needed. The place is a mere 5-10mins from the park to very convenient.

The food was awesome. They prepare amazing local cuisine as well as western style dishes. We even jokingly said that we want to take the chef with us when heading back. They will even pack some snacks for you very neatly for the morning safari trips and when we returned on each of these trips there was some lovely snacks with traditional Srilankan tea.

The hospitality was great. The staff are very helpful and go out of the way to make the stay enjoyable. They provide the Jeep’s for the safari trips, at a cost, which are clean and comfortable. They also explain the various wildlife intricacies to the group when on the safari expeditions.

All in all this is a great place coupled with fantastic food and great hospitality!

Thank you for staying with us. We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. As you may know we are completely off the grid and supply power to the existing two fans with difficulty. We will look to improve our ability to generate power in the future. Look forward to welcoming you back to the camp

We spent three nights at the camp in the first week of February and I have to say that this was the best glamping experience that I have ever had. From the get-go, our host Darrel went out of his way to ensure our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed the scintillating conversations with Darrel over dinner. The campsite is well laid out and the tents are clean, spacious and well equipped and also boast equally large attached toilets.

A highlight of the full day safari was Darrel bringing us a buffet lunch along with cutlery crockery and chairs for a proper sit-down lunch. The camp uses Toyota Landcruisers which we used for all our game drives and the driver/guide Hemantha must be praised for his knowledge of the park, respect of the park rules and his keen eye in spotting animals.
I recommend this campsite to any wildlife enthusiast who also enjoys his/her creature comforts. I am looking forward to going back.

Hi Christo & Darrel 🙋🏻

Thank you so so much for lovely enjoyable trip that was planned out for us. A lovely experience for a few of us who have had no experience in living under a tent as a temporary home.
This one happened to be a luxury one too.

The white sheets on the beds were so clean and the netting for mosquitoes does not at any moment make one feel trapped inside. Airy and spacious. The bath towels carrying a beautiful fragrance was another delight to use.

From the wee hours of the morning hearing the beautiful sounds and calls of the birds was so relaxing to be blessed to be surrounded by nature.Than waking up hearing the busy vehicles raving their engines and rushing around on the streets.

Compliments to the in-house chef who gave us such delicious food. And thank you D & C for accommodating some of our food requests too…

A trip that we cousins will not forget & hope to visit you’ll again soon… 💌🌹💌
Warmest Wishes To All Of You 😊😊.

Dharshika Weerasinghe.

We stayed for two nights at this lovely camp and from the easy check in by Christo / Darrel, great food, excellent driving/ tracking by Hemantha and stories regaled by Namal, we were well taken care of by everyone. The tents were large, comfortable and well-fitted to keep the insects out for a sound nights sleep after a long day in the jungle. The chef’s Sri Lankan and pork chops were on point 👌🏽A pleasant surprise was the good internet connectivity at the location, enabling work check-ins or the occasional zoom call where needed. Hoping to be back soon!

Absolutely wonderful service and hospitality. Lots of care taken to ensure the meals were good and had variety . We were a group which had likes, dislikes and various allergies. That aspect was taken care of so well. The safari rides were organised wonderfully well on time and never broke park rules.
Thank you Namal, Christopher, Darrel and camp crew.
It was my first time on a camp in Sri Lanka and it sure will be more visits,

The Campsite is nicely located in close proximity to the park entrance, yet with the feeling of wilderness.

In the morning it was really amazing, waking up to birds chirping. We felt as if we were part of the 'forest' yet still within our comfort zone. We could see many birds, butterflies and barking deers in the campsite itslf.

Rooms are nice and clean, and beds are comfy enough.  Complement to a well experienced Chef, delicious foods were made and served nicely, hygienically, to satisfy our taste buds.

Overall,  luxury camp in the wilderness  was a different and an awesome experience, thanks to Namal and the crew.

We liked it and would definitely be back again. We have no hesitation in recommending Wilpattu Camp Safari for nature lovers, looking for an escape to enjoy the wilderness with comfort and luxury.

We have stayed for 2 nights in this lovely camp site and it will definitely be my best camping experience. This wonderful place is hidden inside the wilderness and closer to wildlife with only 4 tents. Tents are with really comfortable beds, hot water, fans and everything you need for your stay to be comfortable. I didn’t expect my camping experience to be this luxury but Safari Camp team made such an effort to make you feel special from the time they picked us up from park entrance to dropping us back there.

Food was awesome, tasty and catered to our requirements and everyone there was very helpful, friendly and make and effort to keep us comfortable. We had really nice conversations about wildlife and shared experiences with Christopher who usually runs the Marketing activities but this time happen to be there covering up the role of camp manager.
They have arranged safari tours according to our preferences and even the jeep drivers were really nice and attentive. To our surprise they have arranged our breakfast and lunch for us to have inside the park and that was not only food but fruits, tea/coffee and water as well.

We had a wonderful time there and thanks Namal, Christo and Safari Camp team to make it a memorable one. Wish we had stayed longer than that but no regrets, definitely we will be back soon.

The camp is conveniently located at the edge of the park with a small footprint and minimum impact to the environment.

Nestled among the trees……
The tent itself was clean, airy and spacious, enough to have a restful night on a comfortable bed with spotless white sheets and pillows. The attached bath too was impeccably clean with all the fittings working as they should.
Care has been taken to balance comfort and basic needs without it being over the top.

The staff were friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about their surroundings, ready with a story on any topic.
The chef too was outstanding with an array of Sri Lankan dishes.

Would definitely visit again!

I have visited Wilpattu Safari Camp (WSC) a few times and it always has been a unique experience. Service has always been top-notch and so is the food. WSC checks with their guests on the food preferences so that you can mention if someone has special dietary preferences.

The tents are spacious, clean, well maintained and are equipped with all the amenities. There is a separate dining area and a lounge area for the guests where one can relax after a nice long safari.

WSC is located in the outskirts of the Wilpattu National Park and is 10 mins from the park entrance. At your request, the WSC team can organize the safari's for you and also a campfire in the night which is a personal favourite of mine.

The best part of WSC is the staff who is always accommodating and will do their best to make your stay a memorable one.

Counting down days for my next visit :)

Perfectly located right by the park and enmeshed with the local community, the Camp is luxury with a warm and welcoming feel that immediately embraces you and makes you feel like you are exactly where you belong.

The Safaris are expertly conducted with respect, passion and an intensive knowledge of the wildlife in a way that will light an enduring passion for the subject in all.

It only gets better when you return to the camp to relax in absolute comfort and indulge in the most delicious meals. The staff will always go above and beyond to cater to all your needs.

An experience not to be missed, and one that is certainly to be returned to!
