Thank you Darell, Christo and Team for taking care of us 6 girls so well for the last 3 days. We found the tents to be super luxurious, spacious, well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed the delicious food and how all our whims and fancies were catered for. We will be back.
The tents at Wilpattu Safari Camp resemble a luxurious hotel room with all the basic necessities made available. It was an amazing two-night stay! We took part in a number of jeep safaris, which were really educational and fun while observing leopards, bears, a wide variety of birds, and other animals. Both the safari ride and the provided breakfast for the picnic in the wildlife park made the journey worthwhile. Everything had been planned for and managed extremely well. Even though there was an elephant wandering around the camp at night, we felt well protected and at ease thanks to the delicious meals, the attentive and courteous personnel, and these factors. Can't speak highly enough of this location... This was our first visit, but it won't be the last. Special thanks to the staff for being very attentive and very friendly!! …
Nine of us travelling with Cinnamon Trails to Wilpattu National Park spent two nights at Wilpattu Safari Camp on 26th and 27th July 2022. We were picked up at the Park Entrance and driven to the camp in their safari jeeps. As we came to the camp, we witnessed a cobra that was being treated for its injuries. After a welcome drink, we were shown to our respective tents along with our baggage. Each tent was in the middle of the forest in scenic surroundings. The tents were completely sealed to prevent entry of creeping animals. The sound of chirping birds was a welcome difference from the city life that we are accustomed to. The interior of the tent was well furnished and clean. The king size bed was comfortable. There was a separate closet area to keep our clothes and other items. The toilet and bathrooms were clean and neat, stocked with essentials and clean towels. Though there was no air-conditioning, it was quite comfortable with the two fans. Derrick Bartholomeusz, the manager took care of our group and attended to all our needs, from the moment of our arrival until the very end when we boarded the tour bus for our return journey. His staff too were attentive, cordial, and helpful. The highlight of our stay was the arrival of an elephant on both evenings to savour the palm fruits that fall on the ground. We were provided tasty meals served to our table. The food was tasty and to high standards. Thank you, Derrick and the staff, who made our stay memorable.…
Our second visit there, the ambience and clean accommodation were outstanding. Darrel and his team, in particular the chef, need special mention in making us so welcome. The meals were brilliant including the packed breakfast. Looking foreard to another visit soon.
Thank you to Darrel and team for an unforgettable stay. The tents are comfortable and resemble a hotel room with plush beds and an ensuite bathroom. Meals are delicious (including the packed meals provided on safari rounds arranged through the camp). We had a memorable dinner graced by multiple friendly elephants. Our safari vehicles were arranged by the camp and our driver was excellent. We had multiple leopard and bear sightings and plenty of fuel to do this with. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Thank you once again!
Our family of 4 (me, hubby and 2 teen boys) booked two “tents” at Wilpattu Safari Camp (they’re more like plush hotel rooms with canvas walls!) What a fabulous 2 night stay - glamping at its best!! We enjoyed a couple of jeep safaris, with our highly informative and entertaining guide Christo, spotting leopards and elephants and a multitude of birds and other wildlife. The Safari ride itself was worth the trip, along with a packed breakfast to picnic in the wildlife park! Everything had been thought about and provided. The food at every meal was excellent, the staff so attentive and friendly, and we felt incredibly safe and comfortable, even with creatures (big and small) roaming around the camp in the night!! Cannot recommend this place enough…it was our first visit and certainly will not be our last. Thank you to the entire team at Wilpattu Safari Camp - your organisation, communication and hospitality really gave us a true Sri Lankan experience.…
Our second time at the Camp. Nothing has changed. The same fantastic food. The same pampering by the staff. The same (I hope) Bark gheckos on the tats. :) Darrel and Christo are excellent hosts while the staff are so friendly and hospitable. Lots of attention to detail which is so important - good examples being the lunch they organised for us inside the park and the special vegetarian dishes they prepared for my wife. Little things that went a long way in making our stay awesome!
We packed in a fantastic 24 hours at Wilpattu Safari Camp. It's safari glamping at its finest. Delicious meals and libations, two safaris with a knowledgeable, persistent, flexible, and super friendly guide, very comfortable accommodations, and peaceful setting. Wilpattu is a large national park that is known for its birdlife, animals, and scenic beauty. We didn't see as many vehicles here as at other national parks, making our stay feel even more special. Highly recommend.
We stayed 3 nights during our visit to very nearby Wilpattu Natl Park. Our host Christopher and all the staff provided an intimate personal experience of Wilpattu. While it can be warm during the day, the spacious tents are comfortable for sleeping at night and are equipped with a big bathroom and ample built-in storage. The food at every meal was always first rate, and the communal dining led to special friendships with native Sri Lankans visiting the park, as well as guests from around the world. Drinks and stories around the fire preceded each evening's meal. Wilpattu Safari Camp makes a fun rustic addition to any Sri Lanka trip.
Absolutely wonderful service and hospitality. Lots of care taken to ensure the meals were good and had variety . We were a group which had likes, dislikes and various allergies. That aspect was taken care of so well. The safari rides were organised wonderfully well on time and never broke park rules. Thank you Namal, Christopher, Darrel and camp crew. It was my first time on a camp in Sri Lanka and it sure will be more visits,
