We stayed for a week at the stunning hotel and would definitely like to come back! The staff couldn't do enough to please us, so welcoming and helpful no issue is too big for them to solve. Stunning place and we would recommend it to anyone, very family/children friendly and the different restaurants is a bonus to the experience! Plenty of activities for both adults and children and the evening entertainment was just perfect, We loved loved loved it!

A year ago, my wife and I got married at Zilwa, a moment we will forever remember, thanks to the hotel doing a wonderful job hosting the ceremony and party. For our one year wedding anniversary, going back to Zilwa made perfect sense and our stay was once again, just incredible. Thanks to awesome manager Amrish, we were put up in a very nice room with a beautiful view and received thoughtful gifts and amenities. We enjoyed a 50 min massage. My therapist, Benda, did such a good job with me and I highly recommend her. We also had a romantic and delicious dinner at Lor Di Sab restaurant, where Dan took great care of us with a complementary cake and Allen played guitar and sang for us! Overall, everybody was so nice, the hotel is in great shape. I am a fan of Zilwa and I highly recommend it!

My wife booked this 2 week holiday to celebrate my 40th Birthday and what a way to celebrate! From the second you walk into the lobby you are greeted with a breathing view. The choice of food and drink is excellent throughout the day from a good spread at breakfast to a tasty juice hut, yummy street food fritters, a choice of 5 restaurants and our favorite the bbq across on the island (we recommend the octopus curry). A good choice of pools but our fave place was the beach and we were well looked after by Bhanloo and Visham throughout the day - thank you guys! For my birthday my wife booked a sunset catamaran with a lobster bbq which made this trip even more special . I want to say a huge thank you to Kevin and Steeve who were so attentive and entertaining. I had the best night out on the waves under the stars. The rooms are quiet, open plan with plenty of space and have a choice of fan and/or a/c which was great for us at night as we cant sleep with the a/c on. Big Love to all of the staff who make this hotel. We couldn't recommend this hotel enough and hope to return. Although based on the north of the island (opposite the the airport in the south) it only takes an hour to travel and gives you a good excuse to get and explore what this place has to offer. My only comment would be that we like to do something to give back to places we visit and the option of being able to sign up to an earth day volunteer cleanup on surrounding beaches/islands or a community activity would have been great in order to ensure places like this are kept for others to appreciate and enjoy. Stayed here for 2 weeks in late October so the island was fully open and the hotel should have been prepared given it had a partially quarantine opening in Sept. I would say a lot of staff are either new or being used in roles they are unaccustomed to. Poor service in food/drink areas and silly practices on the minibar and restaurant bookings led me to the 3/5 rating. Also the entertainment each night was so loud that there was nowhere on the resort to get away from it unless you went to the furthest bar, nice to have some entertainment but this didn't add to the luxury indian ocean island vibe I was looking for. Check in/out - check-in/out was pretty smooth, nice waiting area at the main bar, forms filled, antigen test done and results provided quickly. Rooms - the rooms seemed nice, slightly worn which given the whole covid period you would assume they would have done them up a bit especially areas that wear quicker but that wasn't the case. We have the beachfront (with spa bath) which had a stunning view slightly obscured by the large palms but all the same beautiful to sit and take in. Housekeeping did a great job in looking after us during the stay. Food and drink - the big let down, you have to book every meal, time slot etc including breakfast, 90 minutes sat trying to find bookings, most nights couldn't get in anywhere but the buffet. This was my worst experience anywhere and is a big part of the 3/5 rating above. If booking this resort I suggest you send them an email weeks in advance requesting the various restaurant bookings times slots are 6.30 or 8.00. Beach restaurant was very good, buffet, grill etc. can get a bit overcrowded but made a farce of the booking system as they don't check you've booked they just give you a table and leave you to it. Private island lunch was good but given the limitations it is the same pretty much every day and limited choice. Indian for evening meals was fantastic cannot rave about it enough. The Beach restaurant was reasonably good for evening meals except were they nearly poisoned a member of our party after being asked several times if the food ordered was gluten free, no blame to the waiting staff who wrote it down the chef screaming and shouting at him until he showed him the slip! Service - lunch in the main restaurant was lovely but we ate there 3 times and it is horrendously slow service, best way would be to order and then go back in 45 minutes. Then at the buffet you have staff serving but they wander all over the place not organized, do not know what they are serving and not enforcing the mask rule. The bars, we got told by another couple to tip as we have several nights of frustration with the bar staff, unsurprisingly after tipping our glasses didn't even get to the bottom before a waiter was on hand to refresh them. I have no issue tipping but it shouldn't dictate the basic service level. I will however add in that on a day trip and injuring myself the hotel were fantastic in getting me treatment upon my return, the onsite nurse was very knowledgeable and arranged for my transportation and contacted the hospital to await my arrival. The hospital was very professional and sorted out my treatment, medication and instructions and informed the hotel, upon my return to the hotel a manager was waiting to ensure that I was okay and see if i needed anything extra to make the next few days more comfortable so a big thank you to the nurse and management for the concern. A good holiday but expected more and badly let down by the service issues. On the last day we did get approached by the F&B manager and there was some apologies after discussing our issue and a bottle of sparkling wine sent to the room which we did appreciate and again thank you for the effort and listening to our issues.
