Zilwa Attitude, situated on the north coast of Mauritius, in Kalodyne, is different. Its Mauritian concept breathes throughout its architecture, decoration, cuisine and experiences offered. In Creole, zilwa means an islander. Entirely thought and designed with the aim of sharing the simple and genuine life of the islanders with its guests, this 4* hotel is a hymn to Mauritius. Right through, the choice of artists’ work and local material used are true illustrations of the prevailing Mauritian soul. Zilwa Attitude offers a panoramic view over the 5 northern islands. The contemporary and rustic chic architecture and design of the hotel take inspiration from the traditional homes, the old seaside bungalows. The 214 rooms have been customized to match the needs and expectations of each guest; in each category, the rooms have their own identity and personality.

The view of the bay when you first arrive is stunning and the welcome is very friendly. We had the most relaxing week here, no stress.
The hotel sits on the edge of a lagoon which means no waves and warm water. The water is a cloudy teal doe to the sediment. No difficulties swimming, though at low tide it is shallow. Beach shoes are advisable as there are sharp bits of coral.
Hotel offers many water activities all included in the price, paddle boarding, kayaking etc. A boat goes a few times a day out to the reef where you can snorkel. Lots of fish, the reef itself is a bit bleached. Good beach area, with enough beds and friendly bar staff.
The rooms are styled in an underplayed Mauritian beach house, with concrete floors and painted breeze block walls. Perfectly comfortable though not oozing luxury, a bit more attention needed to the quality of the soft furnishings which are beginning to look used. Cleaned every day.
The food was always very good from the buffet restaurant to the a lacarte restaurants, particularly the Indian and the Mauritian.
The hotel is a crossover, from hotel to contact with Mauritius and the people. One such initiative is the Otentik dinner, chance to eat dinner in someone’s home. In this case the house of Rani, breakfast supervisor. At work always smiling and friendly and then after work she opens her house up twice a week for a taste of traditional Mauritius with all of her family joining in. A really good evening.
The hotel is partly all inclusive and partly not, which is a bit confusing with staff continually checking. A plus point is the lack of coloured armbands.
There are certainly hotels with more luxury, but the Zilwa was so relaxing. Staff always friendly. A really good choice and good value for money. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay at Zilwa Attitude! Very warm welcome from the always friendly staff everywhere. You get always a smile if it’s the waiters, the room service or the gardener when you pass them. The rooms and the hotel in general is sparkling clean everywhere. The pool area, the beach, the restaurants, the buffet- you will never find a mess or dirt. Just one small recommendation, the service clothing of the waiters in the restaurants seemed sometimes not exactly fitting and a little bit old an ripped. That could be looking a little bit nicer, would fit better to all the rest of this perfection of hotel. But it would be just the cherry of the cake! We had an superior room with Ozean view, where you will find all necessaries in a very stylish, sparkling clean and cozy room.
We had always a very tasty and wide choice of food at the main buffet restaurant. Furthermore the a la card restaurants are a nice experience of high-class menus. Especially the sorb disab where you get a beautiful dinner on the beach.
The two coves are very beautiful, never crowded. The stuff recommended swimming shoes, but if you are walking slowly into the water, the risk to step into a coral is very less.
We would say thank you for a wonderful week! We definitely will come back and can high recommend to book this hotel!

Dear Alexandra, We thank you truly from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful review and for choosing ZIlwa Attitude for your holidays. Thank you so much for your very kind words, which truly means a lot to each one of us. Your special feedback about the entire team. They are much delighted to hear about your praise for them. For each of us our guest experience matters the most and such kind words of appreciation of our efforts by our guests drives us to do it consistently. I have read your comments about the uniforms of some of our Family Members with great concern. Rest assured that this is not our usual standard. I would like to share that we are taking necessary actions with immediate effect. However, we are truly blessed to have such a fantastic team here who were able to make your stay a memorable one. Zilwa.....Is like a little piece of heaven on earth

Firstly if your thinking of staying at zilwa, go for it! You will not regret it.
The hotel is beautiful, the view when you first enter, is something that you will not tire from, in fact i think it becomes better with each day!
The Staff are if not the nicest at any hotel i have ever visited, with special thanks to Rani who littler made our stay the most special experience. There were only a few members of staff who tended to order people about than actually work (which in honesty did bother me) but every other staff member couldn't do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble, after a few days your drink orders were remembered, your lunch order too. Small things like this in a hotel at full capacity to me makes a difference! It means they care!

The Restaurants in the hotel are insane, all of them and i can honestly say this is not usually for a hotel with 5 different options. Usually you will find 1 or 2 that don't hit the mark. But honestly we never ate in the buffet as they were all incredibly delicious!!
The bar food during the day was lush and the little huts on the beach for lunch were also so tasty.
Breakfast had many options, to suit everyone. As others have mention yes there are birds around the tables when left empty but this didn't bother me. I enjoying being outdoors and id rather have this option when travelling as i want to be outside. (just remember not to leave your food unattended haha)

The Rooms....We booked a sea view superior room as no other rooms were available when booking and i requested an upgrade if available. When we arrived we couldn't see the sea and the room in my opinion was small, and a two week stay in that particular room would have been a lot.
After talking to on of the manager's i was told we could move rooms the next day, we were upgraded to a couple junior seafront suite, WOW just wow this room was just beautiful, perfect and exactly what we had originally wanted! Walking out straight onto the beach, watching the waves from the bed, this was perfection.

The hotel offers a trip to a local home to experience true mauritian lifestyle, this was the best night of our trip and i am so so glad we did it. It was magical and we had so much fun! I haven't laughed like that for a very long time. IT'S A MUST!!

The island is stunning but about 100 degrees hotter than the beach, so bare this in mind. We loved this but families with children should consider this when going over.
The BBQ lunch is nice, nothing over the top but there's lots of options and drinks too.

It didn't happen to us but we saw many people who had cut their feet while in the sea and around the rocks, so please take advantage of the free sea shoes.

I honestly could go on and on about this hotel but i'll stop boring you, just get it booked!! :)

Oh and Last but not least, make sure you see at least on sunrise!!! Trust me you'll never forget it

Wow this place has breathtaking views as you arrive into the hotel. The staff were so friendly and our room was wonderful. We had a private jacuzzi and looked out over the beach. Well worth paying the extra for that view.
Food was really tasty. Something for everyone. Everyone was very accommodating. The room was cleaned twice a day very thoroughly.
I will say if you’re looking for a quiet couples holiday it may not be the place for you. It had a lot of children and families which was fine but just something to be aware of.
All of the restaurants were so nice but do book on the day you arrive.
The Indian restaurant perhaps wasn’t as good as the rest as it was so uncomfortably hot and we didn’t get served for a very long time but it didn’t matter.
Do try the bbq on the island one day it was a wonderful experience and the staff there were so accommodating for vegetarians.
There is a guy called big John that walks around selling tours. Very nice funny man who is a good sales man and his trips were good. We did the south tour and his driver was very sweet and showed us many places which we found interesting such as the volcano, coloured sands, temples. We also did another trip through tui. This was also good and was of the north. We went to a sugar cane factory and to Port Louis. I have to say it’s not cheap to buy anything in Mauritius and some of the sellers in the town were very pushy indeed and we found that uncomfortable. It was also so very hot almost unbearable so quite pleased to get back to the hotel that day.
There was also another guy called Joe selling jewellery around the hotel. He seemed a little pushy and his jewellery was expensive for what it was but we ended up buying something so he would leave us alone.
It’s great to try the kayaking and pedalos plus the glass bottom boat as it’s all free. Do put lots of sunscreen on though if you go out as we did burn.
The sea looks lovely but isn’t clear unless you go out quite far on the boat.
I think as a couple we would have preferred a less busier hotel in hindsight however for accommodation, food, service, cleanliness, friendly staff and views you can’t beat this place. Amazing!!!! Thank you xx

Hello! Greetings from Zilwa Attitude! Thank you so much for highlighting your stay among us. It is a real pleasure to read that you enjoyed your private jacuzzi overlooking the beach. Indeed, during school holidays we have children in our Resort, however outside school holidays there are only very few children. Kindly note that Attitude Hotels also have adult-only hotels that could be suitable for you :) I sincerely apologies for the shortfalls you have highlighted regarding the services at our Indian Restaurant. Rest assured our respective team has been thoroughly briefed about same and we are strengthening our ongoing training. We furthermore apologies for any inconvenience caused regarding the unbearable heat during your stay. According to Mauritius Meteorological Service Station, Mauritius is facing a heat wave leading to an increase of temperature which is above our seasonal average temperature. Unfortunately this is out of our control but rest assure that we are taking necessary measures in order to make our guests' stay a great one. Kindly note the beach hawker is authorized to operate on this beach by the authorities and is not an employee of our hotel. We therefore do not interfere in his pricing policy and encourage our guests to book trips with Tour Operators who are present within the hotel. Thank you once again for your valuable comments as it is mainly through guest feedback that we are aware about improvements to be undergone and this constantly drives us to excellence. Looking forward to welcome you and your family in the near future. Warm regards, Guillaume Tyack Cluster General Manager

We spend a week at Zilwa Attitude for celebrating our honeymoon. When we arrived, we had the same view like the pictures, that never bores. We got a beautiful room with a stunnishing seaside view. Everything is very clean. The housekeeper Anand cleans your room every day, he makes up the bed, you get clean towels and hé refills the mini bar every dat. A very friendly and modest person.
You can ask every question to Anna Sophie of the servicedesk. She helps you with everything, always with a great smile and a lot of knowledge.
The breakfast is very good and delicious. With lots of fresh fruits, delicious pancakes and Gloria makes the best omelets “with everything including chili”.

At the bars ( like Siro Kann) and the restaurants the waiters, (like Vinesh) and waitresses are very friendly and bring your order with a friendly smile.
The best lunch you can get at Lor Disab.
We also had a romantic dinner at the beach over there, Wow !!

Is everything like you would expect in paradise? Hmmm, we saw in the last few days of our stay a lot of children running around in the restaurants while the parents were drinking in the bar. That conflicted with our expactation of a quiet and peaceful place in the sun on a bounty island. The hotel personel could be instructed better to temper this behaviour, as the parents nowadays dont. You can’t blame the hotel, but maybe they could write it down in the houserules that parents should look after their own children in the restaurants and bars and that running and biking is not allowed in the restaurants.

Another thing we don’t advice you to do is to take an excursion bij Big John at the beach. He’s twice as expensive and makes promises he doesn’t come true. You’d better take a car with driver at the hotel to look around at the Island or book an excursion using your travel agent like TUI.

conclusion: Great place to be with only a few issues, but in general worth every euro/dollar.

Hello, Thank you so much for choosing Zilwa Attitude for your honeymoon stay and for highlighting this pleasant experience through such an encouraging review on the TripAdvisor forum. Indeed, Zilwa Attitude Hotel caters for both families and couples, moreover during school holidays we have a higher number of children in our Resort. We booked a last minute two week holiday to Mauritius and decided to stay at the Zilwa hotel on an all inclusive package. The hotel was very well located being located on a lagoon protected by the reef. This meant that there were allot of watersports and activities that could all be done from the hotel. All the hotel staff where very friendly and helpful which made our stay very enjoyable. Our cleaner, Babita, was very friendly and flexible, cleaning and making the room whenever was convenient for us. The bar staff made extra effort throughout our stay to ensure we also had exactly what we wanted as and when we wanted it. Bhanoo, who ran the beach bar was great at this and always provided entertainment and Arvin in the main bar was great. The dive centre associated with the hotel went above and beyond to make diving possible, despite the ever changing lock down rules.

The trip was very memorable and we would definitely recommend Zilwa as value for many and a great place for a holiday.

Well myself and husband arrived home today after the most amazing 2 week honeymoon and I couldn’t be more sad to have left. From the moment we walked through the lobby and saw the most incredible view of the turquoise sea to the moment we left everything was perfect.

Our room was a ground floor beaxh front suite and was bright, spacious and had the most incredible view. As it was our honeymoon the hotel had left us a straw hat, beach bag and bottle of rum!

The food and drink here topped our expectations by a mile. They have a range of restaurants from Indian, Chinese to beach bbq and all were 10/10 with the most beautiful presentation. The curries and cheese nann at tadka the Indian made by chef Rajesh were so good! The drinks were equally as good and the bar staff will continuously bring you amazing surprise cocktails which I love! Especially bhanoo - he was amazing and had us laughing all day with his pranks!

We did the zilwa Catamaran trip one day for a small additional fee where the team of Kevin, captain Johnson and Steve made sure we had an unforgettable day. The snorkelling was great seeing some beautiful fish and the bbq prepared at the back of the boat even better! A must do!! We also went out on the snorkelling boat with Ross which I’d highly recommend. (The snorkelling boat and glass bottom boat trips are free of charge on all inclusive which I thought was extremely good!)

Finally what made this trip is the incredible staff working at Zilwa. We have never met such friendly people who make you feel so welcome and go so out of their way to make sure you are happy and accommodated for. I can’t remember everyone’s names but a huge thanks to: Loveyy, Owen, Arnaud, Kim, Geeta, Bhanoo, Assan, Arvind, Babita, and everyone else.

We absolutely loved getting the little boat over to the hotels private island - Gran Zil. The turquoise clear waters and white sand beach really do make you feel like you’re on your own paradise island. And the bbq lunch was absolutely delicious. This is another must do.

Tips: The hotel has sea swimming shoes to wear which you need to due to the coral so don’t worry about packing your own!
Invest in some towel clips to hold your towel in place on the sun loungers as it can be breezy.

We will definitely be back!! Thank you Zilwa

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. Completely exceeded expectations. From arrival at the hotel and all throughout our stay the staff have been very helpful and always friendly.

The food here is fresh and tasty. The BBQ on the little island is so delicious and like a mini holiday within a holiday. The beach restaurant, Chinese and Indian restaurants were all great quality food and plenty of it. We had a table on the beach twice during our stay and that made it even more special. The buffet restaurants also offered a great range of different food as well.

Ashley in the restaurants, Niraj in the beach bar, Sheila the omelette lady all deserve a mention for being amazing.

Everything has been thought of with regards to keeping people safe from COVID. Little details like staff service food in the buffet rather than everyone touching the spoons etc. A little shop where you can top up your mini bar. And limiting numbers on any excursions to allow extra space.

The rooms are spacious and comfy (we had room 3315). Great view onto the beach and at the quieter end of the hotel. Also right next to the dive centre which was great for us.

Lots of water sport equipment included within the all inclusive price. Stand up paddle boards, kayaks, windsurf, pedalos to name a few.

We booked the catamaran trip through the hotel for our penultimate day and it was great. Kevin and Johnson were great hosts. Definitely book this through the hotel, they limit it to 10 people per trip on a boat designed for 25 so you get a lot of space to spread out. The food on the boat is great as well. It’s also much cheaper than booking with one of the beach sellers or Emirates who drive you an hour down the coast to do the same trip. The hotel catamaran leaves from the hotel beach and brings you back there so no sitting in a minibus!

We booked a trip to swim with dolphins in Tamarin and explore the south of the island. We booked the trip with a guy called Big John, you will definitely meet him on the beach. The trip was amazing, saw around 100 dolphins swimming wild in the sea, and saw lots of lovely sights in the south of the island. The trip was pretty expensive though and later in the week we found that you could book something very similar for a lot less money.

There’s a shop just opposite the entrance to the hotel that sells sun cream, snacks and souvenirs which was really handy.

The only minor negative was that there was no air con in the gym so it was roasting in there.

Bring shoes to wear in the sea, the seabed has really sharp stones and rocks. The boat house do provide shoes if you don’t have your own though.

Would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.

A warm welcome by the lovely staff on the day I arrived. After a very long journey, I was given a short briefing so that I can quickly be taken to my room to freshen up, relax and rest. I came across some lovely people such as Anne-Sophie (guest experience) and her team. They were very friendly, polite & helpful. She was great to help answering all my questions and made sure all my food reservations were completed and taken care of. Even when their was a misunderstanding with the breakfast form it was address to their supervisor who came to see me in the evening to apologies, explaining the mistake and to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The restaurant which I liked the most was Karay as it had a variety of meals to chose from. Thumbs up to one of the guy in the Taba-j he was kind enough to offer me a glass of alouda. The house keeping team was very good at their job, making sure the room is throughly cleaned, especially during the quarantine period. They wiped, sprayed, disinfected the room for a safer and cleaner stay. Nahim is a wonderful person I came across, he was very friendly, welcoming, kind polite and even went the extra to make sure when I was not in the room to clean so that he wouldn’t disturb me when I return from my activities. He even folded up my clothes and were tuck away nicely. Special thanks to Leshan, Mitun, Annabelle & Nahim who was heartwarmingly hospitable kind & caring to me. They came to check on me making sure everything was all ok and if I was in need of anything even when I didn’t call them. To me this show that they would go the extra mile to make sure you have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Thumb up to the team in the gym booking department. They were very polite and kind, they also made sure that the gym was cleaned, wiped & sanitise on a regular basis for a safer use of the gym equipments. Shout out to one of the guy I didn’t get his name but he always came to check on me to make sure if I needed water or a towel. Not to forget the infirmary, just want to say thank you to the gentleman there because I was having some stomach pain (probably from something I ate) for a couple of day and he gave me a tablet to take. By the evening I was perfectly fine, feeling a lot better and the pain was gone. Below are some of the pictures of the foods & view around the hotel to give you a taste of Zilwa. #MoEneZilwa

From housekeeping to Management they are always at your service and prompt to respond. I had such a wonderful view from my balcony where you can see the small islands and the sea in the distance such a scenic view and a very nice ocean view from around the hotel. I can’t praise the staff enough but I got to say I really felt at home for these past 2 weeks, felt like we were all some kind of family for this brief period and I will miss them all. I’m even sad to leave but I was just want to say a big thank you to Zilwa for a memorable stay.

Well just sat in the main restaurant and it's our last of 15 days at Zilwa.

I have been here with my wife and 2 children aged 14 and 11. We have been staying in room 1212 and 1211 which were perfect and near to the main building without being too close. The view of the ocean was amazing.

I agree with the previous post that it took until our second week for staff to recognise us and become more friendly. I believe this is more to do with the barrier of the mask wearing and not the staff's fault. All staff deserve massive credit as they work long hours and are always polite and willing to help. A special recognition to Privthi who seemed to run the leisure activities daily single handed, he was then seen working on a night too, working very long shifts and always polite and friendly. Privthi is a massive credit to Zilwa.

My only criticism is that both the main pools including the adult one don't get cleaned properly. I have been up early every morning and even in the adult only pool it is a soup of bits in the pool which looks like people's skin etc, this gets even worse as the day goes on. Both children had ear infections by day 3, and speaking to other guests this was common. I even met 3 other people at the pharmacy up the road buying eardrops one morning..... I feel bad writing this but please sort pool cleaning / filter etc.

I just want to end on a massive positive though. We have had such an amazing chilled out relaxing time at stunning Zilwa Attitude. The food, entertainment, trips out, room, including room location and quality has made a holiday of a lifetime. A massive thank you to our room cleaner too. Your staff are what makes this place. Please look after them.Thank you for helping make memories with my family.

It is better for you to contact a car rental company and asked if they can give you the facilities.

All type of cocktails made with "local" spirits e.g. with Gin, Vodka etc. However cocktails such as Margarita's are excluded from the list though if you order it the price charged is reasonable.

I have some food allergies and they had to be reminded once when they tried to serve me kiwi fruit - I am very badly allergic to it! So double check!

Hotels in Mauritius usually have a gala dinner and there are usually fireworks on NYE all round the island - NYE is celebrated more than Christmas, so the hotel is sure to have them.
