Still here now & I never write reviews and have stayed in so many amazing hotels, but this hotel is something else. Everything is 10/10. The food, vibe, service, beach, pools, entertainment, trips, views, settings. Could not recommend it more!! Stay here if you want a relaxing holiday, you won’t regret it. The best hotel I’ve stayed at! Will definitely be back.

Look no further! The Zilwa Attitude in Calodyne in the north of Mauritius, is a sumptuous choice for a holiday. As soon as we walked in and gazed at the idyllic sea view from the lobby, we knew we had made the right choice. A fresh sea breeze greeted us, sunshine bounced off the many water features and pools, and the vibe was relaxed. No sooner had we sat down to check in, than we had a glass of bubbly in our hands to welcome us. Our room - - a beach suite, where we could open the door and step onto the sand and into the sea -- was gorgeous. Spacious, ultra clean, uplifting decor, a super comfy bed, and it spotlessly maintained by the cleaning staff. My partner and I stayed there over Christmas and the staff made it so special for us. Hats off to the organisers. Bubbles on the beach. A sumptuous, global buffet. And fun entertainment. It couldn't have been better. But without a doubt, the thing that made it special for us, and why we'll return, is the personal attention we received from the staff. From the charming Narata who remembered our coffee order each morning, to Kevin and Allan who made sure we were able to play tennis early in the morning, to Mr. Amrish Jhugroo, resident manager, whose attention to detail and thoughtfulness left us feeling so uplifted and appreciated us customers. There are so many hotels in Mauritius. Stop looking. You will have an amazing experience here. We'll be back. Thank you for everything.

Such a fantastic stay in April over Easter. There are so many positives, it’s difficult to know where to start? We visited with our two boys, 18 and 13 and had 2 rooms next to each other with stunning sea views near the main reception area. The rooms were simple and authentic to the area. The rooms were cleaned and tidied daily. The views from the open plan hotel were incredible, even when it rained. The main buffet restaurant always had many options, including fish, curries, salads, meat, pizza and even chicken/fish nuggets for the younger children. The range of all inclusive drinks were very good, cocktails at the beach bar were lovely, especially while watching the sunset. The Easter buffet was outstanding. Other restaurants included a Thai (slightly mixed reviews on this, just needs a little more organising), a traditional Mauritian restaurant enabling you to try several different dishes, an Indian (didn’t visit this one), a lunchtime more western option serving amazing burgers and other dishes, and an adult only evening restaurant, beachside with options such as tenderloin beef and whole lobster (lobster had a supplement) Entertainment during the day was fab, just the right balance, Fabien and Kevin were excellent, friendly, fun and definitely energetic, they did beach soccer and waterpolo every day amounst other activities. The beach was private with 3 different beaches and 5 pools. There were a handful of authentic sales people who circulated daily selling trips around the island, they weren’t pushy at all and had great trips, inland or on boats. We booked one with Dennis to the two islands you can see from the hotel, amazing day! There was also a great beach seller with beads and bags and other goodies. Staff were generally super friendly and happy to help, Paul, the drinks waiter was fab as were so many of the other staff. Wifi was excellent Would love to see some more traditional Mauritian evening entertainment, similar to the ‘managers cocktail’ on the beach. The hotel was also an environmentally friendly, plastic free hotel, if you want a straw with your cocktail, bring a reusable one with you. Made some great memories and friends and look forward to visiting again in the future.

We just had an amazing 7 nights at Le Zilwa hotel. Prior to our arrival we dealt with Mr Amrish Jhugroo who patiently helped us with all our queries. He was ever so helpful. Once we arrived at the beautiful hotel, despite the weather not being great at the beginning, we had an amazing time and the welcoming from the staff members was outstanding. A big thank you to the staff members who made our stay special especially to Mr Sachi who works at the restaurant and welcomed us with his big smile everyday & always ready to help. A special shout out to Kush and Kishan at the bar who went out of their way to make sure we were being looked after and comfortable. Jess the hairdresser was very professional and did a great job with my hair and lastly I had a wonderful massage at the spa with Sharmila, I definitely recommend the spa and massage. The food was delicious especially the Thai and Indian restaurant. The room was spacious overlooking the ocean. Overall we had a great stay and definitely recommend this hotel. God willing We will be coming back :)

Where do I start. Zero stars from me. Scabby, agressive dogs eating from the buffet outside, growling at kids as they pass with plates of food. Aggressive dog on beach, hovering over sunbathers. Doing their business as people walked to and from the pool. Room was dirty. Had to ask for clean towels and bedding Insects everywhere Rude staff. Worst hotel I have ever been to. Paul the waiter was lovely, other than that all were lazy and untrained! The hotel should be closed and revamped and all staff should receive training. Cleaners moving furniture in apts above and below from as early as 6 am. Restaurants on site were basic, no atmosphere and that’s if you could get a reservation. Awful experience, doubt we will ever return to the country again,

We travelled here from the UK for 2 weeks over Easter. We are a family of 6, with 4 children aged 13, 11, 9 and 7. Out of all the resorts in Mauritius we found Zilwa attitude to be the only one offering a room to accommodate our large family together (family apartment). The resort is amazing for a family to visit and I would recommend it to anyone. It is about an 1 hour 20 minute drive from the airport, and we arrived late morning after a long flight via Dubai with Emirates (who were fantastic). On arrival you walk into the lobby and are met with the most amazing view over the Indian Ocean. Immediately all that travelling to get there is worth it. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink, and very quickly checked in, although the room would not be available until 2pm (which we already knew), we are given towel cards and full use of the resort. The lobby area is fully open with 180 degree views, along with the main bar and buffet restaurant. Rooms: The family apartment was 2 rooms connected via a shared entrance hall. They were larger than we expected, one room with a large queen/king size bed, and the other with 2 twin beds. Both rooms had sofa beds. I am quite a fussy sleeper and find it difficult to take to many mattresses, but the one we had in this room was perfect for me. The sofa beds were also very good and seemed to be made of memory foam. Rooms have a large walk in shower and plenty of storage for our family of 6 (with 5 suitcases). Air conditioning worked well in our room, however not so good in the other room, but fans gave a welcome gentle breeze throughout the night. TV, kettle, fridge, hair dryer all in the room. The rooms are based in crescent shaped blocks facing out towards the ocean. Whilst some have full sea views, we only had a glimpse of the sea, but the gardens are all provided a great view. I don't think you could get a room with a "bad" view here. Rooms seemed very well soundproofed and we very never woken by anyone above or below us. Food: For an all inclusive resort the food here is of a very high standard. I am quite surprised from other reviews saying anything different. We never had a "cold" meal. In the buffet they are constantly coming out with fresh hot food. There is great mix of Indian Currys, Mauritian Food, Italian pasta and fresh pizza, seafood, french/english dishes. We never had a poor meal from the buffet. There were a few times when there was dishes from the menu missing ( I was looking forward to fish tartar), however after asking the chef, he quickly went back to the kitchen and made this dish for me, before personally bringing it to my table. Breakfast was also great. We ate at the BBQ beach buffet for lunch everyday bar one. It is not massive, but there is enough. The fresh pizzas lovely. We also took the al a carte lunch for one day and this was also very good, especially if you are after that english/americian food hit (fries, burgers etc). There is a snack bar in the middle of the resort. This did crepes and indian snacks (samosas etc). Whilst the food was good, it was very disorganised. You were felt sometimes like you should not be ordering, which was a slight shame. The juice bar next door, whilst not included in the all inclusive package, they are around £4. He does great fresh coconut water too. We ate out at the new Thai restaurant for one night, and this was the only disappointment. The staff were very disorganised and food not that great. We were the first table in there, but our food came out very late, and we were having out mains whilst others were having desert. I know it has only just opened so maybe some teething issues. This put us off visiting any of the other al a carte restaurants. But to be honest, we were more than happy with the evening buffet, and the less formal dining (especially with our children). After the evening meal we would relax at the top bar with great drinks and watch/listen to the evening entertainment. The drinks are very similar to any all inclusive, but the service that came with them was always fantastic. We spent all our days at the lower pool, positioned by the beach and bar. Whilst they did come over and take your order, it was always nice to wonder over and order from there, then sit down at the bar area looking over the ocean. The staff here were great and if you didn't know what to drink that had many recommendations and creations for you. Coffee was also very good, freshly made and nice strong expresso. Our kids loved that they could order unlimited "mocktails". I'd recommend the "dark and spicy", lovely homemade spiced rum refreshing drink. As a family of 6 we can sometimes find it hard to get 6 sunbeds together. We never had an issue here and always managed to get the same beds, We'd go out between 9 and 10. You will never struggle to find a sunbed here, even in the afternoon. The watersports were all included, and we did most of them. The staff are very friendly and it is all very safe. If you got into any difficulty they would be out in their boat to check and help you. The ocean if very shallow and no more than waist deep in most parts. It is not clear but not dirty either. Definitely wear beach shoes in the sea, there are places with sharp coral. Because it is a natural lagoon it does have parts of the sea floor which are quite sludgy, we knew about this before we booked the resort so it didn't surprise or disappoint us. If you are expecting crystal clear water with corals and sealife to snorkel you will not find it at this hotel. There are however many trips available where you can do all this and go to clearer water. The weather in late March early April was perfect for us. A constant high 20 degrees. There is almost always a breeze which is very welcome. The last few days of our trip had quite a bit of rain and cloud, but the temperature was still the same so we were still out on the sunbeds or in the pool. My wife and I visited the spa. Again this was fantastic and probably one of the best treatments I have had. A 90 minute body scrub and massage was very reasonable, around £60 GBP. They also gave us a 20% discount. Very tranquil and peaceful setting. The kids club was great for us. Our youngest (7 yo) went most days. The staff are a credit to the resort. They do so many great activities, boat trips, fishing, henna tattoos. This is all included in the cost. We also played tennis, and tried the archery. There was plenty on, beach football, volleyball, table tennis. We like to relax on holiday, but if you are more active then you will have lots of things to keep you busy. The gym is quite small but never over crowded. Overall I find it very hard how anyone could leave a poor review for Zilwa. If it wasn't for the long travel from the UK I would be booking it every year! We normally get a bit board towards the end of a 2 week holiday, but my wife and I both said we could easily stay for longer here. It is so relaxing and laid back, coupled with the weather and food/drinks what more could you want. Well done, and thank you Zilwa Attitude for an unforgettable holiday and memories made for our family.

We had an excellent stay at the zilwa for 6 nights. Layout and beach front is great and there is a great range of water sports and boat trips that are all included within the all inclusive. The room was lovely too and a very good chilled atmosphere at the hotel. Fabien who runs all the sports activities (football, water polo, etc) is really good. Very enthusiastic and welcoming. Our favourite restaurant was Kot Nou which is traditional Mauritian a la carte restaurant. Thanks to Mohun, Noorina, Yashveer, Chef Caniah and Chef Noel. Dursan and Ruan at the Lor Dosab boat bar were brilliant too. We also loved the bbq lunches at the gran zil island and the lor disab. One thing I would say is that there aren’t enough evening restaurant options. If you have children there is one buffet and then only 3 a la carte restaurant options. As the 4th a la carte restaurant is adults only. If you were here for 10 days or 14 days it may become a bit repetitive but it worked for us in terms of a 6 night stay. Great hotel in a great spot with the water front and gran zil private island the best features.

We arrived on a Saturday evening. Tired from traveling yet our bags took an hour to arrive on the room. Bugs all over the bedroom, tiny camp bed for 12 year old daughter! Nothing opens on time, never had bottled water in the shop. Staff stressed, banging cups about. Thai restaurant was a shambles. iPad not working, wrong food bought out. So much confusion and staff being shouted at by managers! Ants in all the sugar pots, never see anyone cleaning services. Cold food in the restaurant. We had upset tummy’s and had to call the doctor for antibiotics! Not allowed to borrow a tray to transfer drinks, not allowed to give out straws. So many silly rules made by the management. Didn’t use the water sports as too poorly. Nothing was noted about illnesses, no medical book, everything on scraps of paper. No bands for all inclusive guests, free for all. Nightmare at checkout as so unorganised. We picked a bad week and had rain but the whole holiday experience was just terrible, made worse by upset tummy’s. We were not the only ones with this problem either!! Not 5 star. Will not return, ever!

We loved our stay at Zilwa. We are a family of 4 with two teenagers. The location, beach, pools and food were excellent. The Thai and Indian restaurants were our favourite. Beach football and aqua aerobics were good fun! Dodo divers are based at the hotel for scuba diving lessons, they were fab for us as beginners and took us on our first underwater experience! Taxi Bhavish is a brilliant and friendly tour guide - we loved our 5 island speed boat trip with him. He also took us to the Vallée de 23 Couleurs where we did quad biking, zip lining, luge karting and walking the suspension bridge. Bhavish gave us a tour of the island on the way and explained lots of interesting things to us. Mauritius is a wonderful island full of friendly people, we are very sad to leave but will be back!
