Located in the heart of Arkansas' finest river and trail scenery, Buffalo Outdoor Center has a long-standing reputation for offering quality log cabin rentals in extraordinary Buffalo National River country. We're also the area's leading outfitter for float trips on the Buffalo National River, a pristine national park offering beautiful scenic seclusion. And, we offer Arkansas' only true wilderness zip line adventure, a fun-filled 2-hr tour that's great for the young and the young at heart! Couples and families join us year 'round for adventure getaways that are tops in extraordinary scenic beauty and, most of all, great fun! We have cabins in a variety of price ranges, from family cabins to romantic cabins for two. Several of our cabins feature outdoor hot tubs with sweeping 30-mile views of Ozark Mountain country. Hot tub cabins book early, so if you have certain dates in mind, it is never too soon to call and book. And, while we're in the beautiful middle of nowhere, several of our cabins offer free wifi for those who still wish to remain in touch with folks back home. We've just opened a new 5,000 square-foot retail center, featuring great souvenirs and quality outdoor apparel and gear. Got an appetite? Let our deli build you a mile-high sandwich crafted with fantastic locally-baked breads, natural meats, cheeses and fresh veggies! When it comes to adventure activities, we can keep you as busy as you want to be! Our zip line is hugely popular and open March through November. When it comes to hiking or canoeing, there's none finer in Arkansas and arguably mid-America. Elk watching is also a popular activity. The Ponca area is home to a large elk herd which roams the Boxley Valley and can frequently be seen from the comfort of your car. The best seasons for elk viewing are fall and winter.

We had decided to honeymoon in the Mountain Ecstasy cabin, and when the COVID messed up our wedding plans, we decided to come up a day early and get married on the deck of the cabin. Everything was absolutely beautiful. We got married on June 27 and was there 4 nights. We ran the air conditioner one night and nearly froze, so we opened all the windows and enjoyed the wind coming off the mountains. The cabin was secluded and quiet. We felt like it was only God, the animals, and us. The Jacuzzi tub had a perfect view of the mountains when the front door was open, and it was secluded enough you could do that! The cabin was super clean. The staff was great! Make sure you take some food with you though. The nearest restaurant and grocery store is a few miles away. Once you get there, you probably won't want to make a grocery run! It is too beautiful!

We arrived on motorcycles and the road up to the cabins is pretty steep and has loose gravel which is not a good situation for motorcycles. The cabin itself was very nice. We stayed in the Songbird cabin. The staff at the outdoor center were nice and they have sandwiches to order as well as some very overpriced groceries. There aren't any hiking trails near the cabin but about 1/4 mile away is the river access where we played around in the river.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to let us (and the world!) know about your experience here. Please know that we have a select group of cabins designated as "motorcycle-friendly" because of their proximity to pavement and short driveways. Our staff would be happy to personally help you select one for your next trip to Ponca. In fact, we have a web page devoted especially to motorcycle-friendly cabins, so you could even peruse them prior to calling; you'll find that page under the CABINS category on the website (buffaloriver.com). And, your cabin is just a little over a mile to the most popular hiking trail in the state---the Lost Valley Trail---so do let us know if you'd like to hike it and we'll give you directions. There's also a lovely trail that leaves the low water bridge and travels above the river. You can even hike all the way to Steel Creek on that trail if you're looking to stretch your legs for a couple of hours or so. Again, we've love to help you with directions to it...it's particularly lovely in the fall and winter! Thank you for choosing BOC for your road trip getaway and do let us know how we may help you with cabin reservations specifically designed to baby your bike!

My now wife and I held our wedding rehearsal dinner and reception at the Riverwind lodge. From start to finish, the staff oat the BOC were there to make our perfect day, PERFECT. We booked the lodge a year and a half before the date. Immediately, the staff was always accommodating answering questions and giving us tours to help us plan. If we needed ANYTHING, they helped in anyway possible to get it for us. Many of out friends and family rented out surrounding cabins and every single person raved about their whole weekend experience. I HIGHLY recommend the BOC whether lodging, camping, floating, exploring, or whatever. Stop in and let this little slice of heaven fill your soul!!!

Buffalo outdoor center offers cabins a well as an rv park. Before our trip I could not find much info on the rv park, but I am glad we stayed. They have full hook ups, clean bathhouses/laundry, and an unbeatable view. Also, there is plenty to do in the area. (Hiking trails, zip lining, fishing, etc.) At the center the staff were extremely helpful at all times. Highly recommended

Jessica, thank you so VERY much for your kind review of our RV park! It is so new that very few reviews for it are yet available---we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to tell the world about it! We hope you'll join us again for some time spent enjoying that "unbeatable view," as its beauty changes wonderfully with every season!

Several in our family drove to Boxley Valley hoping to see elk and/or wild turkeys. We had been lucky a few years ago and saw both but not this year. We did see some beautiful foliage and the Buffalo River was flowing fast!!! We enjoyed lunch at the Buffalo Outdoor Center after touring the area. The chicken salad sandwiches with cranberries and other sandwiches on the great bread were delicious. Several items also looked inviting, including the beans and cornbread. We enjoy this great area of Arkansas.

Ann, thank you SO much for the lovely review of not just your experience at Buffalo Outdoor Center, but the area! We are honored that you would take a few minutes to write about our chicken salad sandwiches, which are a guest favorite! For more elk and the chance of wild turkeys, consider a winter visit as both tend to hang out in the Boxley Valley throughout the season!
