When we arrived at this campground, the first thing we noticed that there were plenty of campsites open on the map. Then we did a walk around and found that there were no campsites that were physically open. How was this possible? Well—it’s because most of the people here are not properly paying for their campsite. Also, each campsite was stacked with way more people than the six person maximum. We didn’t see any indication of this in any photos are reviews so definitely wanted to warn others. Also, this is not “walk-in” camping but instead is clearly “drive-in”. This makes a huge difference in terms of the quality of the camping experience. Everything site is visible from the road and there is no privacy. If you are expecting a true primitive camping experience, do not come here!

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago. I was really impressed with the outside and inside of the cabin. Very clean and had everything we needed. It felt like home. Loved the loft upstairs and the view. The river was low so we drove to Branson to kayak, which was only an hour away. Loved it! Thank you for making our stay wonderful!

We camped here from Sunday - Thursday!! I can't wait to go back despite not having electricity or "showers". We thoroughly enjoyed the trails, camping, kayaking, swimming, etc. The park hosts were wonderful and had great recommendations. We popped a hole in our tire on the way down the hill to Kyle's Landing and the guy the park host recommended was superb. We were also looking for other trails and he told us about Lost Valley - definitely a must hike! Take plenty of water. I wish there was a shower at the park to go with the nice restrooms, but that's not a breaking point for me. We really enjoyed camping here. Well maintained and a great view of the sky.

Pros: This is a beautiful place with many walk in primitive campsites. Easy river access as well as being close to some of the most beautiful hiking imaginable make this a great camping spot. Cool crystal clear water and fantastic cliffs are a plus. Just to warn y'all, there is no cell phone service at this campground. I must mention also that the National Parks Service does an excellent job maintaining the campground and keeping things picked up even when there's a crowd. Con:Had I been in a car or truck on this camping trip instead of riding on a 2015 Harley Davidson Street Glide, I am sure It would have got 5 stars rather than 4. I was taking my time turning down roads looking for a suitable campsites by the river. When I turned down the 3 mile road going to Kyle's Landing, I quickly decided it was a mistake, but the road was too narrow, too rough, and most of it was too steep for me to turn around. The gravel on the road was the size of a big man's fist and there were ruts that were 6 inches wide and six inches deep. Riding a large bagger that was loaded with camping gear, I honestly don't know how I managed to make it down to the campground without wiping out. While I was there for two nights, one other motorcyclist came down to camp. He was amazed that I had made it to the campground without crashing. He was riding a small enduro style motorcycle which is made to go off-road and he told me that he had laid his motorcycle down twice on the gravel road. He then laughed and said, "but my bike is made for that, you'd total yours." I knew that on my Motorcycle, I could never get enough traction to make it out, and was planning on hiking to the top where I'd have cell phone reception to call someone and pay them to trailer me out. I was thrilled when the resident Volunteer Park Attendant named Bob said he'd like to help me. We ended up removing the bags, loading the bike in his truck, then he took me and my Harley to the top in his truck when I was ready to leave. This was definitely above and beyond what his job duties were but seems characteristic of how most Buffalo River Park Service employees act. The only thing I think the park service could do to vastly improve the safety of this area would be to add clear signs at the very top where you turn off of the highway expressing the danger of the road for street bikes.

We parked at this camp area and backpacked upstream. This facility has bathrooms and several walk in camp areas. The road down is pretty steep and bumpy, but is usable in a car, but would recommend a truck or higher clearance SUV. Pretty scenery and great location.
