I went on a hunting trip to this little town and stayed here several night. Mr Vicky was very accommodating, as we had boats, 4wheelers and dogs with us. Room was large and clean and a great value. Choices are limited in these areas but we will definitely stay here again next trip.
We were traveling thru the area and got to the point where we couldn't go any farther. First motel we had seen in awhile, so we stopped to see if they would take dogs since we were travelling with one this trip. We got a room at the very back of the property in the secondary building. Even on a weekend night, it was quiet at the back of the facility. However, there were issues concerning maintenance and upkeep. There were places in the carpet where it was coming apart it was so old. The bathroom door was in such bad shape and such inferior materials that the laminate was peeling off the bottom of the door. A door like that should never be used in a high moisture area like a bathroom. The bed in our room was fairly firm, the pillows were terrible. There was no in room coffee maker. As a non coffee drinker, it didn't bother me, but thought I should give a heads up to others. This facility also does NOT offer any sort of free breakfast like most places do. In fact, it also does not have vending machines. If you want a can of Dr. Pepper, Coke, etc, you have to buy it in the office. Finally, security is minimal at best. Doors to the room open directly to the outside, not into a hall. There is no fencing or anything else to keep someone from walking onto the property. For a one night emergency stay, it was doable, but if I had my choice in another situation, I would pay a little more and stay elsewhere.…
I stayed two nights for a work conference. I had a nice stay. My room looked clean. Everything worked properly. There was a slight leak on the "cold" knob at the sink when I turned that side on. The beds were pretty comfortable. Overall I was satisfied with my stay and would stay here again if I am in the area.
Was hesitant based on reviews of all lodging. Price was almost half as much as Days Inn but Days Inn rating were not twice as good as Cottonwood. Stayed for 3 nights. Payed for 1st night to see how it was and decided to stay there 2 more nights. Old style motel where you park right outside of your room so you get a bit of parking lot noise. It is older but it was clean. Beds were OK. Bathroom fan was loud but shower was hot and good water pressure. It was not luxury but was adequate. I would stay there again. Locks on the door were not the best, there was no chain lock but there was a dead bolt.
I was put up in the motel for 4 nights as I had to attend the Police Academy at the Black River Technical school. All I can say is I was all too happy to opt out of staying the first night instead choosing to leave out super early on Monday morning for the 2 hour drive. I then drove back home the 2 hours midweek because I just didn't want to stay in the room. Check in: Very fast and issue free Room: Run down looking. Everything old. Felt dirty. In my top 5 of most unpleasant stays. There is a reason this is ranked 3 of 3. If it wasn't free I would have stayed at one of the other 2 by default. Only plus is it's right on the main road close to everything in Pochontas
