Very quaint lodge rooms attached to the exterior of the restaurant. The lodging at PJ's is one bedroom with a bathroom. My room was cozy with a sliding glass entry door that looked out into a tree studded yard. The room was very clean, no fridge, but it did have a tray of bottled water, some individually packaged muffins, and had soaps, towels, and a hair dryer. The TV is small, but it does have DirecTV service. I spent two nights, Tuesday night and Wednesday night. The restaurant is closed during the week during the off-season. I was literally the only guest there during my stay. I just needed a warm bed and a place to shower while I hiked and explored other areas nearby. Norfork is just a few miles up the road and is a cool little town, but things close early, so if you need any provisions, get them early. I enjoyed the remoteness of PJ's, and would definitely stay at PJ's again.

Just returned from staying up there overnight. What a perfect and tranquil setting. The rooms are small but very very nicely appointed with all the conveniences you need. Now let's talk about dinner......Julie is right up there with the best chefs around. She would even impress Gordon Ramsay from Hell's Kitchen. She is not only nice and cordial, and bends over backwards to please you - she could be cooking for a king. She is one very fine artist.

Now just so Les doesn't feel bad - He is a great compliment to Julie, and together they have a wonderful business and they sure know how to please people. If I were to rate this lodge and restaurant on a 1 to 10 star system, I would have to give them a 15.

Bless you two and your staff and keep up the excellent work.

We chose PJ's Bed and Breakfast Lodge after researching many options and were impressed with the consistently high praise found in the reviews. I don't know if there are adequate words to describe how enjoyable our anniversary weekend was at the lodge. Our expectations were high, but our experience was far above those lofty expectations. The extraordinary personal care we received at the lodge extended to other guests as well. Les and Julie have created an impeccably prepared and elegantly presented oasis that is saturated with warm hospitality and charm. The rooms are well designed, clean, quiet, and soothing after a day of touring, fishing, or hiking. The food is amazingly prepared and beautifully presented. The prime rib takes a day to prepare and the coconut sour cream cake is a 3-day process. Half the fun is admiring the beautifully presented masterpieces being served to guests. All ingredients are colorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Breakfast is included with the room and is a delightful start to each day. The eggs and fruit are the freshest possible and as beautifully presented as the evening meals. We skipped lunch each day due to the generous breakfast. We met 'locals' who drove 2 hours for the food and hospitality that only Les and Julie can provide. On our trip, we saw many of the cabins and inns we had found on the web to discover their atmosphere to be far from the descriptions. PJ's sits peacefully on the river with picturesque views from the dining room and guest rooms. Julie brought us fresh iced tea to the gazebo after a busy day and it instantly erased our weariness from a busy day. We had to skip the bountiful breakfast on our last morning to get on the road early and found a road pack with fresh pastries, fruit, and juice left on our porch. A lovely unexpected surprise, but one that perfectly describes the care which characterizes our hosts. Needless to say, we plan to return many times to refresh and renew.

Unfortunately, our stay at PJ's was ruined by the owner of this establishment. My husband and I and two other couples were staying at the lodge for a quiet getaway. We were very pleased with the rooms and the surroundings but dinner was not a pleasant experience. We had reservations at 7:30 and were finally seated at 8:15 at the worse table in the dining room. There was a beam running through the middle of the table which made conversation across the table impossible. After ordering our drinks we sat for approximately 20 minutes without receiving so much as water at which time I approached the owner. I was greeted by a hostile man that made it clear he didn't care that we were unhappy customers. The food was very good but it was 9:15 before we received it. We will never visit this lodge again.

Response from PJsLodge, Owner at PJ's Bed and Breakfast Lodge
Responded Aug 9, 2011
Over the almost 4 years PJ’s Lodge has been opened, we have earned an outstanding reputation for great food and wonderful service in a uniquely beautiful riverside environment with literally thousands of guests. While our efforts are always focused creating a fantastic experience for each of our guests, sometimes all our efforts aren’t enough. However, that won’t stop us from doing everything in the future to ensure our guests have a wonderful time at PJ’s Lodge.

What an unexpected and pleasant surprise, we found when arriving at PJ's Lodge. The room was small but quaint, very tastefully decorated with the comfort and feel of home. The real find was the restaurant. The weekend supper specials included fresh seafood flown in that day and the wine list was fairly extensive. It is a place the local people frequent for a fine dining experience. Breakfast the next morning was also a unique experience. Sitting at a table with guests also staying at the lodge was just delightful, as was the breakfast. Les and Julie have created a unique lodge/bed & breakfast that is just amazing. We look forward to our next trip to PJ's Lodge on White River.

My partner and I took our 3 young children to the area for a brief hiatus from our daily lives. We arrived around 6pm in absolute pouring rain. Our 3 & 4 year old girls were irate and our 8 month old son was not exactly pleasant himself. I was sure this would quickly become one of those horror trips that you use as a basis to convince your single friends to never have children.

However... as soon as we unloaded our kids in the freezing rain and drug them into the main entry of the lodge, everything started to click. The owner was immediately attentive and started chatting up our daughters. He introduced them to his dogs, commented on their light up shoes and even started making our son lighten up with his kind demeanor. When given our room keys, he provided us with umbrellas and even walked us to our cabin rooms without hesitation. I was thoroughly impressed at that point.

We came back to the main building for dinner shortly after that and, again, I was concerned about what the experience would entail. It was a very quiet, romanticly lit setting with several other couples in the same hall. The table had already been set up with a high chair and even a box of toys for the girls. The server was extremely kind and patient with all of us and it made me relax immensely. The owner, again, came by to say hello to the kids. Once dinner was over and we were back in our rooms our daughters were asking if we could go back and visit with him some more. They were pretty put off when told that he had to go to bed too!!

We purchased two rooms that had adjoining doors and it was absolutely perfect. I loved the homey set up of each room and the abundance of luxurious scrubs, soaps and shampoos that were provided. The girls each had their own twin bed and were passed out immediately without even stirring once throughout the night. Our room offered a soft, lovely queen size bed and we slept soundly, never even hearing our neighbors coming and going once.

We were told that breakfast only ran until around 9am the next morning and naturally we missed that by about 30 mins. When I took the kids to check out and return the room keys, the owner insisted that since the breakfast was part of our room purchase, that he would happily go ahead and set us a table. I was impressed, by far. He even waited on us himself.

I am SO pleased with this experience. We will recommend PJ's to anyone we know looking to get away.

I can't add much to the other positive reviews. The others have used all the adjectives. We go there as often as we can. Either for a quite weekend at the lodge or just drive down for a great meal. When we have company, PJ's is where we take them.
The rooms are very nicely appointed and the food is the best. You can have one of Julie's fabulous meals on the deck overlooking the River.

We spent three nights at PJ's and fished for trout on the white river. The food at pjs is excellent great lobster, steak, fish, chicken and shrimp. Vegetarian and gluten free options. We caught and released 30 fish a lot of good size browns. The lodge rooms are very comfortable and the staff is wonderful!! We have fished all over the world and not much better than pjs.

My wife and I were there for 6 days. Very beautiful setting. Relaxing and quiet. The owners are very attentive to every detail. The food is top notch - white linen tables with great steaks, salmon, quail, and chicken. Nice bar with a great bartender (Jimmy and Charlie both!). The river is wide and full of trout. We boated about 10 miles and had a great day. The Blanchard Springs Caverns nearby were beyond spectacular. Excellent tour guides. All in all a 10+ experience. The guests we talked to on the wide deck facing the river expressed the same level of appreciation. The rooms are clean, cozy, and air-conditioned.

We've being going to PJ's for over 10 years... and it just keeps getting better. Yep, the rooms are small, but they are absolutely stunning, and with the beautiful outdoors... why stay in the room??? As mentioned in other reviews the deck and setting are fantastic, and the option of eating out there just makes it better. Plenty to see and do in the area, even if you're not a fisherperson.

Now for the food... what do you say about the wonderful food??? Just that if you really like to eat... this is the place. The included breakfast can easily keep you full till late in the day!! The one problem with the food is that you might as well pitch any ideas that you had about dieting out the window... you will not be able to resist!!!

The service??? Nicest folks that I ever dealt with. I'm sorry that one of the reviewers had a problem... but if the owner didn't grovel (which it sounds like was expected) then he must have had a good reason. We have never had a problem with service nor attitude in all our years there.
