Detailed Reviews
I am torn about this property. We stayed 2 nights in the large cabin and there are pros and cons. The owners are nice enough, and the nightly gem hunt for the kids is a big hit. I liked being able to canoe and fish in the river, and the closeness to the Crater of Diamonds park can't be beat. Any place that is pet friendly is a plus in our book, and it was great to be able to bring our dog along. However, both nights we were awaken by mice. We would have to put any plastic bags in our suitcase and zip it up or the mice would get in it and make noise. My wife woke up the second night and there was a mouse on the nightstand next to her. And the cabin we stayed in was next to the animal pen and the roosters would start crowing at 5am every morning and go on for about an hour. We understood this is "rustic" living so we didn't complain, but I'm not sure we would stay again. They have a beautiful piece of property, but it is run down and nobody that we met there seemed thrilled by their lodging. The grass was overgrown and the place looked bad. I guess what I'm saying is there are good and bad things about it, but it could be so much better with a little money and effort.

Recently got back from a family trip to Diamond John's. Stayed Friday through Sunday. Rooms were clean and the service was great. Please understand this isn't really a hotel - it's a cabin(s) you can rent at a camp sight.
It's rustic and secluded and convieniently located near a river and Crater of Diamonds state park. The proprietors make a special effort to take care of kids staying on the sight with a special nighttime 'gem hunt' that my 2 & 4 year old loved. I would stay there again.

Cabin has a good a/c window unit, basic accommodations, clean enough but more flies than I have ever seen at any campsite. Couldn't figure out where all the flies were coming from. Gem hunt - bring your own flashlights as he said he didn't think he had enough. Overall though the kids seem to really have fun, and that's what counts.

Property very run down would almost dangerous on some places. Mold in the bathroom dust mine is all over the fans floors hadn't been swept in a long time. The owners are very friendly but it looks like maintenance hasn't been done in a long time not worth $135 a night. The setting is spectacular Open Fields water access beautiful sitting areas. Needs an infusion of cash and TLC

Website not representative of cabins. Teepees were torn and falling down. Rive is blocked by fallen trees so you cannot fish or kayak. We booked a cabin for three nights. Stayed first night only because we had a pet and it was late evening when we got in. Floors are "soft", need replaced. Bathroom door was missing about 1/4 of bottom - looked like a dog or something ripped through it. Shower handle was just sitting on it, fell off in my hand. Contact paper on shower walls was pealing off, sink faucets handles were loose and the toilet handle stuck letting the water run if you didn't jiggle it. Pillows were old and flat and were only on one of three beds. A raid bug fume had been set off earlier in the day, can was still sitting on ledge in cabin.
Only upside was the cabin was clean.
Ruined our whole vacation staying there. Plus she does not offer refunds if you don't cancel 5 days before stay and does not give back partial payment if you check out early so we lost all our money on the rental.

Me and my husband had a very relaxing few days here. We stayed in the largest cabin (which was all that was available at the time) , I forget the name of the cabin. We brought our cat with us, which most places don’t accept. Don’t expect the Hilton but, do expect a laid back, clean, beautiful, quiet, rustic place to relax at. The bed was super comfy!! Something you don’t find a lot at hotels,cabins,etc.. Owners were sweet and welcoming being we got in at 3:30ish in the morning. Yes, they need updating which seems to be going on while still renting out to customers. The hot tubs aren’t working and there’s only dogs and cats to play with/pet which was fine with us. We went diamond hunting (Before going to the mine, John paid for us to meet with and learn from one of the premiere diamond hunters and his wife in the area (Al and his wife, Alberta) on how to find diamonds. While at Al’s, we also got to meet and chat with Shirley Strawn, who found a 3.3 carat flawless diamond at the mine. We also went check out Board Camp’s Paranormal experience as well as took in all the beautiful scenery in the area. All in all, we will return to this charming, rustic getaway to visit our newfound friends..the owners, Claire and John. :). And to explore the beautiful state of Arkansas some more.

We found this place online and based on the photos on their website, we thought it would be a really nice place and right outside of Crater of Diamonds State Park. It was dark when we got there. The first thing we saw upon entering were snakeskins. Seeing as how the door would not lock and barely closed, we moved the folding bed in front of the door. We discovered hundreds of dead bugs and wasps under and in the folding bed. There was no cell service, the free wi fi internet was a lie. There was none. My bf had stepped outside and our dog started growling at the food bowl. There was a mouse crawling out of the wall moving to the food bowl. Later there was a mouse running over the head of the bed and later on again, there was a mouse running directly over the bed on the beam. There was mouse poop in the bed, and one of the windows had a whole corner broken out and they tried to duct tape it back together but it had fallen out and there was a hole there. It was freezing in there. They had two small portable heaters. When we went up the next morning to check out at the office, they wouldn't answer. We had to call several times to finally get through. The man answered the phone and was a complete jerk. He said it was to be expected when you camp by the river. WE WEREN'T camping! It was a CABIN! And even when we DO camp there are no snakes and mice in our tents! I had to get my bank involved to get my money back. In the daylight the whole property was run down. Nasty teepis, and a nasty outdoor hot tub with weird stuff in it. If there was a way to give this place negative stars I would do it. This place is a liability waiting to happen!

Where else could you have owls hooting in very large pine trees right outside your cabin during a Full Moon?? It was Amazing! Even though it was only 8pm, the lady in the next cabin was annoyed and came out with her flashlight and tried to chase them away. I enjoyed the owls anyway and the overall peacefulness of being in the country. I recommend this place to anyone who isn't afraid to stay in a cabin that isn't perfect. And for the record, the only bug I saw during my 2 night stay was one fly. The cabin had a bathroom with walk-in shower, Internet, TV, refrigerator, air & heat. The owners are very friendly and there's lots of room on the property to explore along the river. The only complaint I had was the ornery lady next door : )

What a place! We were the 3rd couple to leave early in a day! In it's time, this would be paradise but it is in terrible shape, hot tubs were a disgusting mess and no water. We had hoped to spend some time kayaking and fishing, uh, no way! The inside of our cabin and dirty and in much need of repair. The teepees were moldy to say the least! A huge disappointment!

Yes, you can bring your pet if you stay in a cabin or a tent. They do not like you leaving your pet there though if you journey out for any amount of time. There are also many other animals on the premises that your pet may not like. My dog didn't particularly care for the peacocks screaming at all hours of the day and night and she really didn't like the mice running around the cabin. I know all pets are different, just something to think about.
