At a glance, this is exactly what I would picture in a Caribbean getaway. The rooms are cottages that hold two rooms, but they are completely separated, with individual screened in porches. The rooms are large and offer a great view, just steps from the beach. The beach is dot

I came here out of season for a relaxing beach holiday but the attitude of the management cost me dearly.

We must not forget that this is a three star hotel and therefore can not be too harsh and there were both good and bad things listed below. But I DEFINITELY would not recom

So sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. Despite being an eco resort we try to stay at the forefront of technology. For example we are the only property in the Federation with waterproof electronic bracelets that are the room key. You can even go scuba diving wearing your bracelet room key. In a similar vein, we decided that millenials want lightnening fast internet and live streaming TV rather than the old fashioned limited channel cable TV option. We therefore invested in supplying fibre optic cable to every room and hooking up the TVs to live streaming boxes. To be frank it is still a work in progress as we are still totally dependent on what service is provided to us by the island provider of internet. Yesterday the download speed was amazing! This morning it is really poor so the TVs are bufferring. The good news is that the Carib beer is usually cold and the weather perfect so in typical Caribbean fashion just put down the laptop and cellphone for a while, go play and by the time you get back it should all work just fine!. Again I am sorry that you had to dodge the occassional gift from the roaming animals. We have never fenced the property and most of our guests are intrigued by the ocassional cow that wanders through or herd of goats. Right now the sea grapes are in season so there are monkeys competing with us for the fruit . The green and hawksbill turtles are crawling up in front of the rooms most nights to lay eggs. you might be disturbed by a braying donkey at night as that seems to be when they forage. Nelson and Bernel usually harvest any animal droppings for our garden beds before the guests arise . I do apologise that you found some droppings. After another guest published a complaint on 31st July about sheep/goat droppings which are too small to collect, I spoke to the farmer who has his animal pen about 2 miles away in Newcastle. He now releases his animals later in the day so that they dont have time to reach Oualie in their foraging. Yesterday the Mom of a family staying with us said to me "What happened to all the goats? Last year we used to love seeing them on the property!" I guess some guests like being close to nature while others prefer more manicured, structured surroundings.

I really liked this hotel. It is on the beach and has a lot of authentic Caribbean charm. A small bar patronised by locals, together with friendly staff. As to the rooms they're nice, but also have their rough edges, in that things seem to not quite fit properly. Nonetheless, the

The hotel can arrange it all for you. Ask for the fast boat. 7 mins against 24 mins in the slow ferry!!

I am looking for room with kitchenette. Your hotel pops up when I mark kitchenette in amenities choice. Your room photos show a mini fridge and coffee pot. Do you have rooms with kitchenettes that are just not posted on pictures?
Oualie Beach has 32 rooms of which only two have kitchenettes. These are called "studio rooms" and have a 4 burner propane stove and fridge. There is a queen size mahogany four poster bed and a small seating area with a couch and a dining table. As there are only two such rooms they are often reserved way in advance. Please check our website for availability and book early!

We haven't booked all inclusive as we like to eat in different restaurant. Can you give me an ideal the cost of a meal at the gin trap. Also how much is a bottle of wine. In the hotel. Many thanks Kate
Hi Kate, Whenever you decide to dine out away from Oualie there are many lovely restaurants on Nevis to choose from. Most of them are priced about 20-30% higher than Oualie Beach Restaurant, except for some of the nice really local places like "Passions" . Gin Trap is very nice and is convenient located about 10 minutes walk away. Wines at Oualie vary from about US$26 to US$50/bottle.

Anyone got any tips on either Nevis only tours or day trips to St Kitts? Thx
You can snorkel, if fit you can climb Nevis peak but it is an island to relax on, it is no an activity island, although chartering a boat is great if there are a few of you. There is a safari tour but I haven't been on it. St Kitts has much more to offer, Brimstone Fort is well worth a visit, there is a train that travels the coast/mountains and likely much more. We go to Nevis because it is quiet and there is not much to do. Enjoy your trip

Your hotel sounds amazing but we are wondering how easy it is to get from St Kitts airport to Nevis and roughly what the cost is. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Sally
Hi St Kitts airport is at the other side of the island to where you catch the Ferry to Nevis. A 30min car ride which is pretty and you get to see some of St Kitts. You can arrange this with BA/your travel agent or the hotel but this is the most expensive way. I (and others) was charged about $150 return. It was a BA holiday, booked through Dial a Flight and they advised me they booked the transfer with the hotel. I had not been before and thought it very expensive but as I was travelling alone, and wasn't sure how to get to from the airport to Oaulie Beach or how far it was, I paid it at time of booking. However, once I was there and made enquiries it appeared various people were charged various, hugely differing, amounts! There is nothing fixed or uniform about the charges. I have since complained to both BA and Dial a Flight but with no result. It seems the best way is to just get a taxi at the airport to the ferry (there are plenty) which should cost about $12-$15. The ferry then costs $80 but this depends on how many people are using it. If others are travelling, which they usually are, it can cost as little as $20. There's more than one ferry but try and get one directly to Oaulie Beac. The others, which are cheaper, go to the town and then you have to get a bus or taxi to the resort - about 20 mins. Its quite simple to do and many people usually transfer. You can email the ferryman Oaulie beach website and get a price when he knows how many people will be on the ferry. Good luck and Id be interested to know what you ultimately pay. I loved Oaulie Beach for its unpretentiousness, beauty and calm, although you can also listen to a good band (not too loud) most nights in the bar. enjoy...... Kathleen
