We arrived late when the rooms were full of recent graduates but Andrew said he would keep an eye out for an opening should there be a cancellation. I truly didn't expect anything of it but we ate in the spacious restaurant with a great view of the valley between there and distant Mount Magazine. The steaks were delicious. To...

My husband and I stayed for one day and one night. We arrived on a Friday and the place was pretty quiet, not too busy at all. Which I loved! We were able to get in a nice long hike to Cedar Falls, the trail head can be accessed by the lodge. We hiked for a couple of hours and...

Wonderful views while dining. Excellent food with a large menu to fit all tastes. They serve Peti Jean meats. Great service. Great for children and adults. They have special menus on holidays. We drive an hour just to hike in park and dine here.

Very nice place for a weekend getaway. Loved the silent dark night and clear moon and stars. Would have loved to drive or walk had the weather permitted during the night. Fabulous views of the valley and falls from the hiking trails. The restaurant was decent, food was good. The complementary firewood supply everyday was also something new for us.

Great place for a cozy winter visit. Historic CCC lodge and cabins at beautiful Petit Jean State Park. While favorite day trip for us to hike and enjoy lunch, we had never stayed overnight. Before we left we booked rooms for a big family trip next fall. . . .so that should tell you a lot. We had a room...

Spent 2 nights in cabin on the rim at Petit Jean State Park over Thanksgiving (made reservation 6 months in advance as very popular). Went on a 1.5 hour hike down to Cedar Falls on Thanksgiving morning, beautiful hike through the woods to the Falls, which were still running in a small stream. Although rated "strenuous", it was not that...

We camped a couple of nights at Petit Jean. When it started to rain we decided to check into the lodge. The room was small but comfortable. There is a pretty big television, a small shower with hot water, and a good heater. It was quiet in our room even though there were lots of people in the lodge. There...

The lodge room on level 1,was noisy. Book on 2. The management should train housekeeping to make certain the alarm clock is off. Our alarm went off at 5:30am.spoiled our morning. The dining experience was slightly south of mediocre. Service was good, the price was reasonable. In the future we will rent a cabin with kitchen facilities.

Thank you for taking the time to review our park. I am sorry to hear you were awakened at such an early time! We use reviews for training purposes and will certainly follow up with housekeeping so this doesn't happen to a future guest. We look forward to your next visit.

Mather Lodge is a beautiful lodge built by the CCC back in the 40's. The lodge has modern amenities but keeps it's rustic nature. Sits on a hilltop surrounded by gorgeous scenery. My room was small, but very comfortable. Bed was great, a neat bathroom with a walk in shower. Room had everything needed to be very comfortable. Lodge has...

We stayed at Mather Lodge for our 17th wedding anniversary. It's nice to be able to hike several trails and never have to drive anywhere. We hiked 12.5 miles in 2 days. The rooms were smaller than a motel room, BUT not too small.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
One of Arkansas's historic treasures, Mather Lodge at Petit Jean State Park, reopened on May 8 following a beautiful, and fitting, $4.3 million renovation. The renovation work replaced the lodge's 1960s-era dining room with a more rustic-style design, expanded the kitchen, added a 50-person room for meetings and small banquets, relocated the guest registration desk, enhanced the 24 guest rooms, and constructed a new lodge swimming pool. Public restrooms were added underneath the pool due to its proximity to Cedar Falls Trail, one of the park's most popular hiking trails. The renovation did not affect any of the lodge's original Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration work from the 1930s. Now the renovated portion mirrors the Adirondack-style park architecture of the 1930s' portions of this Arkansas treasure. ... more   less
