As a seasoned world traveler this was my first truly guided experience, and from the time I met a BiO BIO staff member at Porto Mont, my expectations we're met or exceeded for the next 10 days.
The Lodge we stayed at the first night was the perfect setting to get ready for the the adventure that follows. After a great nights rest from the long travel down we met our guides for the next 7 days. Jenner, Santi, Rio and Mike all did a world class job of providing safety and the most exciting lines I've ever paddled in the biggest water I've ever seen!!!
The Bio Bio Staff at camp made sure we were never hungry or thirsty the whole time, and both food and drink were amazing with plenty of choices every night. I personally found the five star camping to be the best camping, if you can call sleeping on a real mattress, in a beautiful setting, in a cabin tent ,that you can stand up in, while listening to the river, camping.
This trip is five star all the way!!!

Telling people at the welcome toast that you want this to be the best week of your life is a bold statement, but with the help of an amazing natural setting the crew at Bio Bio does everything in their power to make it true! Even though the unique and spectacular Futaleufu river is the main attraction the local and international staff are what truly transform the camp into a home for everyone from the avid fly fishermen, to the hardcore rafters/kayakers, to my cautious 9 year old daughter who rafted, paddled in a double ducky, rode horses, played with newborn kittens and helped make marshmallows from scratch. Many of the guides, and both of the owners, have families and knew exactly how to keep the river activities as safe as possible, thrilling and comfortable for every ability and interest level. Each day was perfectly tailored based on weather, river levels and the specific requests of each guest. And the food, in camp and on the river, was delicious by any standard. Don't miss the change to have what could well turn out to be the best week of your life!

It took me 4 flights and a 2 hour bus ride to get there, but it was VERY worth it. The location of the camp on the river is breathtaking. There are a lot of tents along the river. I stayed in the Apurimac tent and it felt like we were floating over the river. Hearing that in the background at night made for very good sleep. The ladies in the kitchen do an AMAZING job feeding everyone and the food is top quality. The guides are the absolute BEST. They are extremely professional and take safety very seriously. We had so many safety catarafts and kayaks with our group (which just about filled 4 rafts and also had a few kayakers) that it never felt unsafe. Even when most of our raft got tossed in Mundaca, they were quick to get everyone collected and put back into the raft. Aside from the rafting, we also had some other activities like fly fishing and horseback riding. All of it was so much fun. We had a great time and I would definitely go back.

I had the great fortune to experience the Fu with the safest (most important to me), and most fun outfitter there is. I have always loved white water rafting and the timing, price, and location ticked all the boxes for me. Needless to say, Bio Bio surpassed all of my expectations. The water was high and the rapids did at times make me nervous but I did all sections: middle and lower Futa and the el macal section. Bio Bio does not do the upper section at all in rafts. I felt comfortable that the Bio Bio had the most experienced personnel and more safety on the river than any other outfitter. What I did not expect was the wonderful food (we had profiteroles made with no electricity or gas... and they were delicious) and the lovely people (Shout out to Derik, Santi, Orea, Amal, Rayno, Ellie, Ari, Lorenzo and la familia and all the others I missed). The pacing of the day was perfect - often a active morning and then a choice of an active or relaxing afternoon. I often did the later with a message, reading a good book or handing out with a beverage in the hot tub. You should go even if you are not a white water rafting fan - the other activities, the camp, and the food make it worth it!

This was our 3rd trip to the Fu ( and this time we took our kids along). It just gets better each time. The camp is in a great location in one of the most beautiful places on earth . Facilities are good ( remembering it is luxury camping, not a 5 star hotel!) , the guides and camp staff are amazing- everyone is made to feel special and like one of the team .
The main attraction of course is the Futaleufu river which has to be the best white water on the planet. The attention to safety by the guides whilst rafting and kayaking is very impressive , and their knowledge of the river is amazing.
My bag of kayaking gear and clothes did not arrive ( thanks Qantas!) but Lorenzo (this man is a legend) was able to lend me everything I needed to get through the week.
My kids loved it and we all want to go back. And we will!

My husband and I decided to go through BioBio based off a recommendation of a rafting guide we are acquainted with. We are both whitewater guides in Maine, USA, and we seek challenging and exhilarating whitewater. This trip exceeded our expectations. The crew there works very hard and well to make this trip an amazing experience for the guests. They go out of their way to make this experience customized to the guest's wants and needs, and even assign a "tent captain" to each tent to help guests throughout their stay and they can even wake you with a hot drink before yoga! The tent platforms were a great way to "glamp" on the riverside. We stayed in the tent "Pacuare", which was amongst the trees and overlooking the Futaleufu river like the other tents. I woke to friendly little chucoas every morning and we were far enough not to hear the rooster at the crack of dawn, but close enough to hear the snickering of the Ibis at night. There weren't many bug issues, just a couple outdoors with the white moths at night that swarmed towards any light source or the few rash-inducing caterpillars during the day, but they were all easily avoided. The hot tubs were lovely, the whitewater breath-taking, the landscape awe-inspiring, and the food delicious! I'm in love with this area in the back country of Chile, and BioBio gave me a home to take it all in! This place is a luxury in the back country. If heaven could be anything, it would be there. I hope to go back one day!

This was a trip of a lifetime. Amenities: fire-heated hot tub (X2!!), sauna, open bar, rope swing, all the instruments you could want to play, hot showers, great tents and cabins, yoga deck and indoor yoga room, dining area, multiple fire places, laundry.... you get the idea.
Staff: I've done a few big river trips but NEVER have I seen this level of communication and synchronization amongst guides. The river guides here are the world's creme de la creme. Not only are they talented as river guides, but they all possess a plethora of hidden skills, and are so kind, funny, and interesting. I cried after leaving because this was such an incredible experience. I'm already saving up for round 2! Oh and Lars, the owner, has a heart of gold. He checks in everyday and makes sure everyone is having an amazing time-which is pretty much a guarantee if you choose to go to the Fu.

Other highlights: ducky day! on the Rio Azul. Horseback riding (gorgeous!) Amazing food, watch out because you will not lose any weight here. Christmas: secret Santa. Morning yoga everyday. Having coffee delivered to my tent each morning (Thank you Mike and Rio!!!!) Massages.

So much love for the entire crew of Bio Bio, thank you and see you next time!

Wife’s ideal to do this trip. No cell phone and no internet prevented me any opportunity to address major issues at my business back home. This caused me tremendous stress, panic attacks and depression while there. Even though we went during their summer time in February 2023 had I been properly been Informed I would have bought and brought my own dry suit. I was very cold especially after getting wet. I am grateful our raft didn’t flip which did happen to others. We did fall out of the raft which was quite scary. Had my wife listen to my pleas to delay the trip for just one year and let me deal with turning around my recently acquired business I am confident I would have had a much different experience. The group was nice, very able and competent to rescue their guests from the class 5 waters. Plenty of food and drink for those in the mood. Perfect for anyone wanting to disconnect from the world. Wasn’t for me as my business required the need to be connected. I think the company should have offered Star Link or a satellite phone for guest who are not able to unplug from their lives back home and needed to address problems immediately.

An absolutely incredible trip!! It completely surpassed our very high expectations. The Patagonia landscape is absolutely beautiful, rafting on the Futaleufu is the best in the world and the Bio Bio Camp is out of a dream. Lorenzo and his wife, Terri, were phenomenal hosts. They and all of the guides and staff were warm, welcoming and a complete wealth of knowledge on the region and rafting.
The accommodations are perfect for enjoying nature. You are protected from the elements with comfortable beds and privacy, while also having the wonderful experience of effectively being outside the entire trip. One note, the bathrooms and showers are shared. They are clean and close to the platforms, but worth noting for packing. Headlamp/flash light is a must for getting around camp after dark, but remember the sun doesn't go down until about 10 pm, its summer in the southern hemisphere!
Most days start with yoga, then breakfast. Time on the water, sometimes lunch at camp or out on the go. Then opportunities for more time on the water or hiking or relaxing - hot tub, sauna, a massage. "The hot tub is hot and the beers are cold!" We found spending time at camp in the afternoons very relaxing. Themed dinners, fantastic dessert every night! Maybe a campfire or another drink before tucking in for bed.
The Futaleufu River Bio Bio trip is an adventure in paradise. If you are considering this vacation, book it now. We cannot recommend it enough!
We hope to go back someday!

The world has changed a lot since February 2020, however, we were pleased to note that BioBio's camp Futa remains a magical, pristine, abundantly welcoming, super-fun, and soothing place to glamp and adventure. Having joined the camp several years' ago, we wondered what a return trip would be like... would it be different? disappointing? too much the same? Quite impossibly, it was better than ever! Something that impressed us 'veterans' was that a majority of the river guides and staff were the same folks--a testament to the quality of people and leadership at BioBio. We wanted for nothing. The weather was perfect. The rivers were astoundingly beautiful. The food was AMAZING. The wine tasting and theme dinners were so much fun. And glamping on the banks of the Futa cannot be topped. Kudos to BioBio and their wonderful crew for crafting such a marvelous getaway. We definitely hope to return again...
