We booked the last few days of our 2 week vacation at Hotel Merengue in Punta Cana. We checked in & went directly to our room. We unpacked & then walked around and noticed that the pool was empty. Because this isn't a beach front property, we deemed it unacceptable. We changed to a different hotel down the road. The...

Although the workers are very nice and try to be helpful, the hotel is kind of falling apart. The swimming pool was empty on christmas eve and it was going to take a long time to be full again. Nothing of the apartment we stayed at was working. No water, no batteries in the remote of the tv, no cookware...

I'm particularly not that picky, but feel compelled to inform you that this hotel does not have consistent running water. When the water is running is yellowish and of poor quality. The air conditioning system did not work. I called the front desk twice, they came to the room but the issue continued. I actually rented 3 rooms because we...

I have to review this place because it is a really good convenient place to stay in this area. It is not so easy to find such a place at a decent price. Most everything in the room works, it is maintained well, which is rarely the situation in this type of hotel in the DR. Clean. Friendly staff. Decent...

Just got back from Riu Merengue, nice hotel, food could have been a bit more varied, breakfast was always delicious. Tried sushi for the first time on the Chinese night and a few other different foods. Lovely beach, the gardners worked tirelessly to keep up with falling leaves, the weather was perfect. Long hot sunny days, perfect way to relax,...

Upon arrival, it seemed decent enough. After 1 night, I was bitten by bugs laying in bed. There is a karaoke bar on one side of the street and a disco on the other side of the street, so a quiet night sleep is not possible. There are no "do not disturb signs" to put on the outside of your...

This hotel is well situated, in the main street with small shops and restaurants and close to the wonderful, long local beach. Also its garden is pretty and swimming pool good. The internet works well everywhere at the place. But obviously rooms need better maintanance and less "it will be repaired tomorrow" attitude. There was no working safety box and...

This is our 8th visit to the hotel...from the first visit, this hotel has had it's problems...but nothing so bad that we don't want to return. The hotel meets our needs for location and a hot consistent breakfast. The staff is always pleasant but lacks professionalism...they want you to be satisfied but you can tell that the management has failed...

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and the service was pathetic. The room was a bit dirty and the bedsheets were stained. The furniture were old. The room safe wasn't working and the hotel staff couldn't get it fixed. One of the staff tried to cheat us when we took his help in dropping us in his car...

We stayed at this hotel only one night because there was some confusion with our reservation at the hotel we had booked. We stayed 12/18/15. This unassuming place can give you a bang for your money. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. If you want a no frill and budget hotel this is it. It is not close to...
