It is november, time to go home n our annual holiday to the DR. Every year, we take a hotel with the premium, platinum, exclusive, …(you get the point) to have the best possible experience. This year, we decided to do an experiment. What about a cheap hotel. My wife booked the Vik arena blanca. We knew it would not be the same as other years. Fresh sushi, personal butler, private bar, pool and beach,… But also the price is not the same. Last summer, we went to Tunis with our kids to a hotel with a great aqua park. The kids loved it. That made it good for me there, because the food, OMG so horrible. So you feel me here. Cheap hotel, so what will the foot be. To be honest, my egg in the morning has the same taste as in the exclusive clubs. We were there for 1 week, and I never had a mail where I could not find my taste. Just the 1 night we went to the “a la carte” Well, both of us prefered the regular buffet. It is absolutely true that the hotel need some renovation. 1 of the pools is closed, and the other one had his best years about 2 decades ago. The chaise-longs around are also waiting to be renewed, but if you look a bit around, you’ll manage to find a good one. We have been reading that there is not a lot of animation in the evening. Perfect, that is why we love it. @ 21.00 we are sleeping like the old people, but @ 6.00 we are ready to start the day. So to say it in 1 sentence: the hotel is old, but clean, good food and good people. About the room, please do not ask room 3228, so it will be free when we come back. Because we will.

Not luxury but clean and well size rooms. Clean service is every day, and rooms are clean. Very kindly personal and very good kitchen. In front beach is very nice. Wifi is missing onthe rooms and area of hotel, you can ise cellular connection. Very good price to effect ratio. All inclusive service is very good. We are satisfied with the stay here

The hotel was the most boring and disappointing place we have been to. A/C is almost non existent, no a/c in shops or dining areas. We were a group of 7 people in 5 rooms and had problems in each room, 2 got changes to different rooms that were not much better. No pool bar that was close, entertainment was a joke most nights ( we were there for 10 nights ) no a/c in any bathroom on the whole site. 1 out of 4 a la carte restaurants open that had 3 different menus in alternation that turned out to be what you had at buffet the night before. Pool floor is atrocious, pieces of chipped cement, so that's a great feeling under your feet...NOT. No music at pool or beach until 3 then stopped at 5. This was the most boring place I have been to, key cards to rooms constantly needed to be changed, no pressure in shower, shower head holder broken and never fixed so had to take showers kissing the wall to rinse my hair, and had to sit on toilet sideways because my face was almost touching wall in front of me. Rooms smell of humidity because no a/c and hot and humid as heck in room even with ceiling fan on full speed. I definitely do not recommend this hotel at all.......The only good thing was 24/7 security on beach and resort that made me feel safe.

Staff : All the staff were very nice , i know english or french are not they first language but they still try to communicate with me . I did a solo trip & the staff were always making sure that i was fine or had everything i need . One thing that catch my attention was the work conditions of the staff , i saw some people early in the morning working everyday in the heat at 5-6 am & they were still there working at night around 23h pm i felt really bad & that give me cold feet knowing the extreme heat we had this week . Resort & Food : 2 restaurant was open when the website said they have 4 restaurant , one restaurant the Trattoria food was very good & fresh but the Buffet beside it the food was bad i was expecting more traditional Dominican food . For the snack bar i was expecting " Snack " & not burger or pizza more chips , candies , cookies etc ... For the activities , the staff are really trying to make us play games or have fun but i just felt like playing kids games . I was expecting to see show or event but nothing , at night is really boring . The beach is nice but those people trying to sell excursion really making it hard for us to enjoy the beach . If you don't pay for an excursion you really going to be bored , theres nothing interesting to do in this hotel . The pool is very salty same as the beach " ocean " . The bathroom shower head are really dirty seem old . The Ac doesn't work very well . There's no elevator so if you know you have some disability you should take a room in the first floor . Would i go back to this resort ? Never The only thing that make this place nice was the staff after that everything is bad & im still wondering the condition working of the staff because working in the morning & still being here at night to come back working again the day after is not human at all . Do i recommend this place ? Sadly i don't for the price i paid for this trip it doesn't worth it at all . The resort was pretty empty . I did read the review but i didn't thought it was that bad but next time i will take the review in consideration & go to a better resort .

We stayed 9/1-9. Lots of seaweed on the beach in the mornings but they definitely did their best to get it cleaned up daily. We initially were in room 3008 and ended up changing the 2nd nite as the a/c wasnt working. Both rooms were a tad outdated but the second room 3125 was much better. The pool could also use some repairs but got the job done. The food, we could always find something to eat but it wasnt top tier. Pizza and fries at snack bar were yummy. Bartenders and most staff were nice. Overall for the price it was a great stay. The ocean swimmable and warm. Would recommend

Firstly I almost never write bad reviews. The staff were all friendly and kinds. That was nice. Food was decent and the one alacarte restaurant was really tasty. Now the stuff we didn’t like. - Beach is filled with thick seaweed, can’t swim hardly at all, and yet a 30 min drive down beaches are great. Can’t snorkel too murky to see anything. -Swimming pool is Salt water! Gross kids were not happy with stinging eyes all the time. -Air conditioning was weak and room was pretty hot most nights. -Pool is falling to pieces and chunks are coming off everywhere. Kids were playing fetch with them. Plus cut their feet on pool bottom regularly. -Evening shows were ok, not fantastic, most was local workers and they try their best. Good on them! Resort is small, but decent. Fix the pool, get fresh water for it, upgrade the air con and it will be a much nicer resort.

I spent two nights at this resort, it is so nice, so quiet, food is excellent, the store at pretty close you visit the mini market ask for Indhira, she’ll help you out, she is so helpful. Shows at night are incredible, beach is good, it is not big but you find lounge chairs over there.

Okay we just came back from spending 1 week at VIK Arena, June 17-24, 2023. Firstly when we got to the resort the gentleman that is the bellman/concierge was so welcoming and first thing he said is "Welcome Home". Check-in was fast and we stayed in building 5 (5024) on the main floor. It had a partial view of the ocean and viewed the marina . It was quiet, but, sitting on the balcony at night you get bitten by the "no see-em mosquitos", you don't see them, but, you surely feel them after you start itching. The hotel has no control over mother nature. Having shrubs right in front of the balcony was probably a breeding area for the mosquitos. We heard the spray trucks, but, it was probably useless because it rained shortly after the spraying so it would have washed away whatever was sprayed. The hotel is dated, but, kept clean and the room was sufficient considering you're outside all day, it served its purpose. The plumbing fixtures in the shower could definitely use updating but the shower worked and the pressure and the temperature was great. The food was plentiful and you could always find something to eat. There was only 1 a-la-carte restaurant that has a different theme every night, and you don't have to make reservations, you just show up and you always get seated. If you didn't want that theme, you could go next door to the buffet. I enjoyed the variety at the buffet. Interesting that I overheard a conversation in the pool by a guy I believe was from Germany - named Alex - and heard him complaining about the food and that he doesn't trust anything there and especially meat. He was telling the gentleman he was speaking with that he takes a cab into Punta Cana to go to Domino's Pizza or Taco Bell. Really????? How sad that out of all the choices at the buffet you can't find anything suitable - pasta bar, fruits, vegetables, rice etc..... The snack bar near the pool always had hamburgers, hotdogs, French fries, salad and some times chicken, and a variety of pizzas. I can't believe that someone couldn't find SOMETHING suitable to eat and can't imagine how he is at home. Any way, he obviously has standards that he should have gone to a five start resort. We'll talk a little more on this particular person's behaviour. The resort is dated and walkways around the pool and the pool floor are crumbling. Other than that the pool is clean and we were pleasantly surprised that the pools were salt water. Okay, here is my other beef with this guy named Alex. Him and his partner were so inconsiderate when smoking. They would go in the pool with their cigarettes and flick their ashes into the grate where the infinity water flow would go into. When they finished their cigarettes they would flick their cigarettes onto the ground around the pool, and to top it off they wouldn't pick up their cigarettes when they got out of the pool. First of all they shouldn't be smoking while in the pool, but, if you're going to smoke while in the pool - use a cup of water to dispose of your cigarettes. When they would sit on the lounge chairs and smoke they wouldn't use an ashtray and would just thrown their cigarettes on the ground around them without extinguishing the cigarette. Besides that being totally inconsiderate, it is also unsafe with people including children walking around barefoot. My husband and I are smokers as well and we always had ashtrays with us where we were sitting and when the ashtray would get too full, we would wait and then empty them in the garbage. I understand that people are on vacation, but, you are not vacationing alone, be respectful to others who are also on vacation. The beach has really been destroyed by a hurricane where the beach is not level any longer. There's a big hill going down to the water. Some of the palm trees have their roots exposed and that was probably where the beach used to start from. Apparently Bavaro Beach used to be one of the most beautiful in the Dominican, but, I'm not sure if it was just this resort that hasn't repaired the damage to the beach or if all the resorts on the strip are the same. It's a shame cause it would otherwise be beautiful. We had a wonderful relaxing week. It was hot, but that's to be expected in June. When you have the ocean and the pool, the heat isn't so bad. It was an affordable vacation, and it had everything we needed, including wonderful people. If you don't expect 5 star service at a 3 star resort, you won't be disappointed.

This is barely a 3 star resort and I struggle to even say that. The quality of the rooms as awful. First off, the Ac barely works. I even switched rooms and it's far from cool. The rooms are very old and outdated. The bed is not bad but quite hard. The food is okay but nothing special. Very mediocre food. The quality of the alcohol in the drinks is awful. Most of the alcohol tastes like gasoline. On a positive note, the beach is very nice and the water is a gorgeous turquoise. The pool area is decent. This is a very quiet resort with very little nightlife so if you're looking to party, this is not the place.
