We stayed 10 days from 4-14 December 2023, we chose this hotel for our wedding anniversary due to location, beach and reviews, everything seemed perfect...The first two did not disappoint while the large chain Barcelò did!! Slow, tired, fed up and listless staff, without tips they struggled to serve you and smile. Large rooms but with old and poorly functioning furniture..We had to change the room on the ground floor because it smelled strongly of mold, but in the other room they gave the shower, wardrobe, there was no light in the room and balcony..they have proposed to change again but we asked to adjust because it was not possible to change a room a day, let's say that everything except the light was fixed, so the next guests will certainly be luckier than us )). I would add that they gave the room dedicated to First club members (imagine what happens in the rooms without prevalence). We couldn't rest well because early in the morning the staff arrived, banging the doors and shouting to communicate with each other... The cleaning is just a matter of speaking, the cleaning ladies left their black hair everywhere, it leaves their anus dirty more than before , they forgot every day to put bottled water and towels with a clean bathroom carpet (you had to call the reception) and here it comes nice in the entire structure in the bathrooms no toilet brush so imagine what happens when you eat poor quality food and have to go to bathroom both in the room and elsewhere.. Rightly at the inclusive in Dominicana I couldn't expect to eat as well as in Italy but all the soups, meat and fish had the same flavor and were cooked with the same condiments and sauces, almost everything frozen, and prepared with little imagination, all unripe fruit, even the tropical ones. After the fifth day we were tired of eating the same old things for breakfast, lunch and dinner and when we went to 4 restaurants we found exactly the same things as a buffet... which was disappointing, plus we had severe stomach and intestinal pain... Only weekends when many people arrived and the buffet surprised with a themed dinner (with food of a different quality and finally different dishes!), perhaps to attract customers in the future. If you want to eat quickly and be served well both at the bar and in the restaurant, prepare hundreds of 1 dollar bills, otherwise they won't notice you or they won't even give you a smile for free... in short I would remove a couple of stars, we visited the Palladium hotel next door and there unlike the bathrooms there were toilet brushes, the beach was not as neglected as ours (with seaweed and old sunbeds) and the staff were helpful and smiling. I forgot we didn't use the swimming pool due to the strong smell of chlorine but it was beautiful. It's a shame that a large structure with an excellent location has disorganization and listless staff. Strong point location, well-kept garden, large beach, the evening show and the only barman Willy to do his job well and at the reception boy Yorgy and Fermin Abreu who helped resolve some moments.

Today I left my stay at the hotel after spending 11 days there. I think it is a fair opinion and I am not offending or discriminating against anyone. To begin with, it is a beautiful hotel in terms of landscaping and its physical plant, it was recently remodeled and they have carried out continuous maintenance that is noticeable at a glance. The rooms are very comfortable, the beds are delicious, I liked the food in the themed restaurants, which I cannot say 100% about the buffet, the food is very repetitive, don't expect to find seafood, one day they make paella or another day squid stew , with fish and very few shrimp. But you always get something delicious to eat. An important clarification must be made and that is that the hotel is not 5 stars, you get what you pay for. Drinks are not of very good quality, but you can survive with them. But it's really terrible on the weekends. I don't particularly recommend coming after noon on Friday until Sunday afternoon. Because of its low cost, many "non-foreigners" come (obviously they have every right) but they must also respect sleeping spaces, lines, hygiene, reduce excess noise and shouting, and above all not contaminate the food. (This is very annoying) Additionally, the hotel does not prepare for the arrival of so many people (the employees said that there were more than 1800 people) and all the bars ran out of liquor, You don't get a clean table, you don't even get cutlery or plates, you literally have to ask and look for a waiter to help you or wash some cutlery for you, very unpleasant, you didn't get towels all weekend. But be careful, this only happens on weekends. During the week the hotel is different, on Sunday afternoon it was fabulous again. point in favor, the staff is super nice, almost all of them!, there are some half-tantrums, especially in the lobby bar. The entertainment has improved greatly compared to the previous visit. Special greetings to Nadal aka cappuccino, hahaha to spaghetti and the girls who accompany them, etc. He always has a beautiful smile for you, and a good attitude. The beach is fabulous, one of the best I have ever been to. There are many sun loungers, you never run out of them. There are free water sports and others with payment (you need to negotiate) the buffet food this Sunday was sensational and the desserts were divine. I am back in my country and the sadness of leaving this paradise remains. Good night everybody

If you have never been to a resort and understood that Punta Cana service is typically a bit on the slow side, you may have been OK with this resort. But for seasoned travellers with 9 visits to different Punta Cana resorts in the past, this resort was very frustrating. The service in the buffets is terrible and the general attitude amongst the servicing staff was that they did not want to be there. The only exception was Padro in the beach buffet. The other major issue was the lack of beach/pool loungers. There are nowhere near enough loungers and if you were lucky to find one without "reserving one" of the few at dawn, it was most likely broken. We have never encountered the lack of available loungers as we did here. Finally, the food selection at the buffets was not the greatest for a resort of this size. We are very simple eaters and did not starve but it was one of the worst buffets we have experienced in a resort.
Now it was not all bad. The resort is a good size and not too big like some of the others we have been to in Punta Cana, no need for trolleys/golf carts at this one. The resort itself is very well maintained and the grounds/maintenance staff does a great job keeping it looking good. The beaches are beautiful and they do a good job picking up all the seaweed in the morning. The one thing we have never encountered before was the lack of "beach huts" which are nonexistent at this resort so it made finding shade a bit of a challenge if you needed a day off from the sun yet still wanted to stay closer to the water. The rooms were nice and big and we did not encounter any air conditioning or plumbing issues that have been mentioned in many reviews. The à la carte restaurants were very good but again service was slow with the one exception being the Steak House as they did a great job with their service there. The Steak House was phenomenal and all 6 of us enjoyed it. Another hit was the pizza place, the pizza became an every night occurrence for us as we all loved it.
Did we have a great time, yes. Would we go back, unlikely unless we see an improvement based on the reviews in the future. For the price point, you get what you pay for. If you want premium service, higher-end resorts like Dreams or Sandals are down the road but expect to pay significantly more. If you are coming from a high-end resort like that in the past or have done cruises, expect to be disappointed.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We are known for having guest-oriented personnel who are welcoming at all times and are fully aware that their interactions with our guests have an enormous impact on the overall holiday experience in our hotels. Therefore we are very sorry to read your comments on the service you received and commit to addressing any situation that does not follow this goal of making sure our guests feel welcome and looked after at all times. Our hotel policy does not permit sunbeds to be reserved. We booked months in advance for ~$200 a night (incredible right??), but we still felt like we were ripped off. They should have paid us to eat that food, and the only decent activity available was to sit by the beach (if you wake up at 7 to go reserve chairs) and no, the pools were not better. Those chairs were reserved by 8 am. The entire experience is just waiting in lines for terrible food/drinks. Nobody will come serve you or pour water during your meal or rectify anything you complain about. I saw multiple other families storm out of a meal when their food was wrong/cold/gross and the staff refused to fix it (we nearly did twice, but curiosity kept us around to see what new hell the dessert would come from). The best part of our family trip was actually leaving the resort for an ATV trip to a different beach. The rooms and housekeeping were perfectly average, matching most of what you would get for the same price range (say $150-$400/night) on a beach in the Caribbean. But you get exactly 2 towels per room, no exceptions!
I will say, if you have young children and no standards, this place is rife with children running around causing havoc, and the best performance they host (every night at 8) is a children’s 'choreographed' song/dance. It’s adorable chaos.
The beach is beautiful and mostly tranquil, but you can expect to be bombarded with vendors that the resort has approved selling anything from random rugs and rocks to spa services at the resort. They're all equally pushy and obnoxious, one even yelled and threatened my grandmother for supposedly promising to buy from him when she had never spoken to him. That said, the beach is super nice and well maintained for miles, and it ranks in the top 5 beaches we've been to, which is a huge compliment from my dad and grandmother from Barbados.
Every other building on this beautiful ~4 miles of beach is also a resort. Try one of those. The beach is beautiful, but occidental is trashy.
The only other thing we enjoyed was the made-to-order pizza. If you find yourself at this resort by some stroke of bad luck or bad decision making, please skip the buffet and the a la carte restaurants for dinner. Just go straight to the pizza bar that opens at 6 PM. You will thank me. It's one of the only palatable options on the property. I wish this was just because we're picky or american or whatever, but it's the truth. This pizza is just a hair better than frozen mind you. It's just better than the other options.

Lack of shade by pool and on beach. We sought shade under a tree for the week we were there unfortunately it was right where the spa sales person was set up. Pushy sales people for excursions and spa. Swim up bar was good however, two other pools and beach had to be served out of one buffet. There is no bar on the beach unless you’re part of the royal club. It was not noted anywhere at booking that you could only book 3 à la carts. It was also not noted anywhere that the Mexican restaurant was being served out of the steakhouse restaurant, and the Italian was being served out of the oriental restaurant. I had to go to the front desk to clarify where our reservation was and almost missed our dinner timeslot. There are pushy sales people on the beach, wanting you to buy jewellery and take pictures with their parrot and iguana. At times, they would sit beside you on the Sun lounger until you either purchased something or moved. Entertainment was only in Spanish and very sparse. All music being played was in Spanish. The foam party was a lot of fun. We did the silent disco however again all music was Spanish music entertainment. Staff did teach the dances for the songs. The pizzeria was top-notch, The taco bar had great nachos and chicken tacos only The pools were very warm, understanding that the heat of the sun warms the pools, but they were not refreshing at all. They were about 6 inches to the top of the pool. I felt that they could’ve put some water in to neutralize the heat of the pools. Passes are offered to local families. They were quite pushy, moving our belongings and some loungers to accommodate their large groups, they also brought large 3 foot speakers to pump out music. The staff accommodated locals over guests. Our first room had no air conditioning. I requested three times to be moved I was moved once I went to the desk for the fourth time and explained someone in our party had a heart condition and needed the relief of air conditioning. The spa was lovely. Our treatments were fantastic and reasonably priced. Cleaning staff with the rooms was poor, often having to track them down in the hallway and asking for towels. I had written a note asking for more towels as only two were provided no hand towels, no face cloths. The next day towels were provided, however they were just tossed above the toilet hanging, not even folded. The pillows are quite flat having to stack three on top of each other. You can request pillows to your room. We did tI would not return to this resort and would caution anyone that needs shade to book here. I travel twice a year and have never needed to look at a resort to see if it had shade.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. We understand the importance of having comfortable and shaded areas where our guests can relax, and we regret any inconvenience caused by the limited shade by the pool and on the beach. We aim to provide a tranquil environment and will review our setup to enhance our guests' comfort. Moreover, we apologize for any discomfort you experienced with our sales approach. We strive to offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy local excursions and spa treatments without feeling pressured, and we will be addressing this with our team. We will review our communication strategies to ensure our guests are well informed about restaurant locations and dining options. Additionally, we apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced due to the behavior of other guests and will be revisiting our policies to maintain a respectful and enjoyable environment for all. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 12 days. While the beach and property were nice, that is about all we can say was good about our stay.
We had multiple poor experiences with the staff, our room and the service. The staff were very unfriendly, inattentive, and just seemed miserable. A lot of the time, they were on their phones or too busy talking to each other for us to receive any service. It was almost impossible to get a drink from some of the bars at the property as the staff just looked right past. We also had issues with the housekeeping. Most days, if housekeeping did come to our room, they would take our towels and not come back with fresh ones until late in the evening, if at all. It was pretty frustrating trying to get cleaned off from the beach or ready for dinner, and realizing we had no towels to dry off. On one occasion, It took us calling the front desk and housekeeping 7 times, and took 3.5 hours before we finally got our towels. We were given a filthy ice scoop on our arrival. Our toilet broke and it took us calling multiple times for 2 days before they finally came to fix it, and it was only partially fixed only. Worst of all, we had come back from the beach one day, and the housekeeper had left our door to the room wide open, leaving all of our belongings unsafe. When we went to the front desk to speak about our experiences, the staff seemed annoyed and didn’t seem to have much interest in hearing our complaints or fixing the situation. The response was something along the lines of, “so do you want a new room or what” to which we declined as we were leaving in 4 days. There was no attempt to make things right and not even an apology for the service we received.
Additionally, Both the steakhouse and seafood restaurant got both of us very sick.
The atmosphere on the resort was also a bit of a let down. Maybe it was the miserable staff or the lack of stuff the resort had put on it, but it just made for some dull feeling days. There was also hardly any music or entertainment going on.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our stay, however the beach was beautiful so if you’d like to enjoy the ocean the resort next door is beautiful, always had music playing and sounded like a ton of fun!

Dear Calleigh, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at our hotel. We apologize for the experiences that did not meet your expectations during your stay at our resort. Our goal is to provide a delightful environment where our guests can enjoy their vacation to the fullest, and we regret to hear that this was not your experience. We understand the importance of timely housekeeping services, and we are looking into the delay you experienced with receiving fresh towels. Moreover, the cleanliness and readiness of your room upon arrival should be impeccable, including the provision of a clean ice scoop. We also regret the inconvenience caused by the maintenance issue with your toilet and the concerning lapse in security with your room door being left open. This is certainly not the standard we aim to uphold. We are sincerely sorry that the service did not meet your expectations. We will follow up on this with our team. Nonetheless, we are pleased that you found the beach and our property to be enjoyable. The beauty of El Cortecito Beach is indeed one of the highlights of our resort, and we are glad you appreciated this aspect of your stay. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Best wishes, Orestes Almaguer, General Manager

I waited until a few days had passed since my return to review this hotel. I decided to write the review expressly in Italian to address my dear compatriots who want to visit the Dominican Republic without fainting, now let's be clear where you can eat better than in Italy? At your Italian grandmother's house, if she's from the south, she's unbeatable. So when you review a tourist village even with 4 stars outside of the beautiful country you have to think intelligently and not ALWAYS expect to find the cuisine at the level of the Italian one, otherwise guys let's stay at home and stop. A necessary premise so I will say little and be concise about the food, 2 stars out of 5 because it was edible, if you have children they will find hot dog chips with hamburgers always present at lunch for a week let's pretend we don't have liver, rice and pasta if you eat in white you are safe if you want to experiment your palate could seriously object. Fruit not always perfect but always very varied and local, vegetables always good and varied. Fish and meat are sometimes decent even in the most basic preparations, sometimes not at all. Breakfast only for savory lovers with eggs/sausages/bacon/rice in every sauce and in industrial quantities, for those like me who only love sweet plum cakes but decent ones. Instead, let's talk about the beautiful, large, large structure with well-kept swimming pools, gardens cared for almost maniacally by the gardeners always at work for grass and palm trees and you will feel safe with guards who monitor the perimeter day and night, basic rooms without too many pretensions but always quite clean and tidy. The cleaning staff, contrary to what I have read, has always been courteous and friendly with me and it is in fact true that they do not clean every day and they do not always have spare towels, something I had read and for which I brought myself 3 towels from home, it's called a spirit of adaptation, each of us has it, I certainly won't let a towel ruin my holiday!! The sea, the beach with the talcum sand are wonderful, they have remained in my heart and I still have my phone full of those wonderful shades of light blue and blue. I always found a free and tidy sunbed to enjoy the beach and the breathtaking view, however the sea is rough 99% of the year so either you are a good swimmer or choose Bahiahibe arriving at Romana and not Punta Cana. For my birthday they let me find the room decorated with flowers and festively decorated with a very welcome gift, a thoughtfulness and kindness that I will not forget. I definitely recommend it!!! Will I go back? maybe one day, because I didn't go to eat well, I went to enjoy the ocean, the fantastic warm and dry climate and the modest and relaxed atmosphere of the Dominicans. p.s. to all those who said they never smiled, what tone and how did you turn towards them? I tried to put myself smiling, and I only received gratitude and smiles in return. If you want a smile you have to offer it to others too.

We spent almost 2 weeks at the resort, first week on the main resort, and the second week we upgraded to Royal. Not sure how the ratings are determined for these hotels, but I would not classify this as a "5 star" by any standard. If you are coming with 5- star expectations you will be disappointed. However, if you book in advance, you are also not paying 5- star rates ( for those who do not book in advance it will be closer to price point of 4-5star, and in my opinion overpriced for what you get).
Positives: 1) the property is beautiful. The beach is stunning; wide, clean, powder white sand, and just beautiful with the tall palm trees. They also nicely maintain the common spaces, walkways, landscaping is gorgeous. Note: this is the Atlantic side, so ocean can be rough. 2) Most of the staff is helpful, and try to speak English. 3) Pizza and tacos are great for late night snacks, and probably the best food option for quick meal. 4) Upgrade to Royal, it's worth it. Much more private, and slightly better food in the restaurant, and definitely better service.
Negatives: 1) Our expectations were realistic regarding the food. We always found something to eat in the buffet, but it was average to low quality, and nothing really had flavor. Would be nice if they served some other meat besides pork chops and chicken. 2) Our main issue regarding the food was they do not understand basic food safety and preparation. They need to train their chefs, cooks, everyone in the kitchen on cross contamination, mixing meats with vegetables, dairy with non-dairy (dangerous for those allergic). The cooks preparing the omelettes in the morning reuse the same bowls for veggie omelette as they do for those with ham, meats etc. Not good for anyone with dietary or religious restrictions. I also do not eat dairy or ham, but had cheese and ham in my omlette more than once. They also prepare vegatables right next to where they are grilling pork chops, using the same spatulas, etc. Raw meats left next to cooked food, etc, etc. 3) Very bad AC in rooms, both Royal and non-royal rooms. 4) No shade on beach, only palm trees. The trees are beautiful, but make it tricky to find shade. Royal side has shaded area. 5) All rooms need a good renovation
Overall, our trip was good because we tried not to let the food situation ruin our trip and got slightly better when we upgraded to Royal, and we also reset our expectations. This is barely a 3.5 to 4 star resort on its best day, and only 4 star if they improve the food situation.

We were 4 couples in their 50s, 10 days at the end of January 2024 positive furniture in good condition throughout the site swimming pool beach bedroom lobby, Bavaro beach section super! food at the Buffets and pizzeria good, Wifi everywhere on the site but not constant I do not want to repeat what has already been said in the other comments proud you that people are writing in the same period as we are January 2024 in short report Quality price its good we paid $1500 CDN 10 days
a big negative problem I had read it but I said to myself it must not be that worse than that my yes............. the Service the staff phew or its made the world competent since covid Restaurant Bar Buffet no service don't think about sitting down in the morning and having a hello followed by having a coffee hehe No he goes to serve at the table next door because the customers have gone to look for the waitress,, forget about it he doesn't even look at you he doesn't leave with the coffee carafes it seems like they haven't received any training and I'm not exaggerating you have to go look for them to get what you need, he takes no such initiative in the lobby in the evening with a waitress who comes to see you on her own initiative good luck you have to get up and go get her to get a service (that a member of our group was spanking for us) and yes we gave every semblance of service tips even with good tips at the first service we said to ourselves well she will come back quickly to see us well no hehe it didn't work anymore hehe its the worst incompetent service I have received in the years of all inclusive hotels that I have been in (about fifteen Cuba Mexico Dominican Republic....) the a la carte restaurants no better its all mixed up in the orders and so on and if you like to eat warm and cold a la carte restaurant it's for you, we had reservations which we canceled after having had the experience of 2 restaurants for the drinks again the 2 times the same drinks do not taste the same thing they mix alcohol without measure one consumption too strong the other too much juice, etc. still lack of bartending training In short, even with good tips, try to chat with them, it's not easy, he doesn't even speak French or English. Staff generally seems stupid, no skills or training, we have the impression of bothering them, but if you look, we'll find 2 or 3 employees on the competent and pleasant site
And at the end of the weekend you will notice a lot of local customers on site and the hotel seems to make an extra effort for the local service and food at the buffets improved

Family stay for Christmas. Beautiful weather most of the time, it was nice but not too hot with the sea air Functional room with large terrace, bathroom linen provided with shower gel/shampoo and conditioner/on the terrace a table with two chairs and a small drying rack but be careful the linen does not dry out from too much humidity! the bed linen was not changed throughout the stay and the beds are not very wide, otherwise large cupboards and hangers to store your belongings, a fridge with soft drinks restocked every day, and bottles of mineral water available in the room because tap water should not be drunk, safe to store documents to be secured. We were in block 11, close to the large swimming pool, restaurants and reception, so very good. Elevator available to access the 1st and 2nd floor. Three swimming pools at your disposal, one with a bar which is very practical for the all inclusive/ Swimming pools not always clean due to the incivility of tourists who throw their cups in the swimming pool..... Lots of deckchairs available, very comfortable, There is no point in leaving your towel to reserve one, there are always some available The main restaurant offers themed meals, the food is ok, the choice is varied, the hot dishes are not always, you also have to wait to get a table if you go too late. I recommend the crepe made in front of you with choice of topping +++. We tried other restaurants: I recommend the Italian but not the steak house where my meat-loving husband and daughter were disappointed. The club is right on the water with direct beach access: plenty of deckchairs available on the beach and showers right off the beach. A beachside restaurant for lunch and drinks. The water was very clean and the beach too, white sand, coconut trees, magnificent water, the best I recommend going to see the sunrise on the beach. With the time difference, you will wake up early the first nights, go there, it's extraordinary, seeing this at the end of the world, with your feet in the water, magical! Main bar very good, possibility of having a drink on the terrace or inside, very helpful staff, friendly atmosphere Didn't think there was a lot of entertainment during the day, my daughter would have liked more, shows every evening, go early to get a place, otherwise get a pool deck chair to sit on because it's in outdoors Remember to take sunscreen 50, the sun burns down there but thanks to that, no sunburn for us! Take mosquito repellent spray, thanks to this I was bitten very little, no need to use mosquito repellent no plug adapter in the room so plan for it The complex is large but is easily accessible on foot, we don't have the feeling of being very numerous but perhaps the hotel was not full at that time. Fast airport hotel transfer, less than 30 minutes so very good I recommend this resort If you need other practical information, don't hesitate, I will answer!
