First of all I am not fussy and there are many great things about this resort. I enjoyed my stay. Beach was great. Water was awesome. Spend a lot of time in ocean. Grounds are immaculate. I love the wildlife. Iguanas, flamingos many ducks. Room is fine. Location great. Food is ok. What I expected, it’s not the Keg! Now the negative: no face clothes! Had to use a hand towel to wash. No shampoo nothing in room. No pop or beer. Only 1 bottle water a day. I was in sea view room. No mimosa for breakfast!! No service and beach or pool. You’re serving yourself. Not a huge deal but as I said the little things. All in all I have enjoyed it! One more day here. I wouldn’t come back unless improvements were made. Oh and the bed is as hard as a rock. Pillows horrible.
Beautiful resort and beach! Buffet selections and gourmet restaurants all exceeded expectations. The resort is filled with domesticated wildlife such as iguanas, parrots, peacocks, flamingos, etc. The resort gym was always clean and had the latest techno gym Selectorized equipment making it easy for the most advanced and begginer level fitness enthusiast to get a good sweat it. Also, the gym would always have a PersonalTrainer (Melvin Zorrilla) available to assist with your needs and goals. All in all a fantastic and satisfied vacation with my wife:)
Everyone there spoke Spanish, no English speaking people. The pool water was always cold, the tv was broke and had one English speaking channel. Only was given one towel each, no wash cloths and no shampoo. Refrigerator was not stocked. Beds were uncomfortable, bartenders were very young and didn’t know how to make many drinks. The food was lousy and tasteless. No hostess at the buffet so finding a table was hard. They only had packets of salt and pepper when you could them. People were rude! They but in line. The hot tub was a few degrees warmer than the pool which was cold and too many kids in it. Too many kids at the swim up bar. Would not recommend this place! It’s more like a 2 star hotel. No live entertainment so was always in room by 8:00 PM. The specialty restaurants served the same vegetable in all restaurants, limited choices and the menu never changed. Not going back!…
We had a family vacation for a week.the resort is fabulous, well kept ,clean and service was exceptional. The food was regular,I feel they could have improved on that aspect. The animation was outstanding, I want to mention the superb work of johnatan de la Rosa .He was professional, polite and always made sure you were enjoying your vacation . Thank you . I would recommend this resort to families.
Not the best hotel by any means. Average at best, but by no means terrible. Room - first room allocated to me was ground floor in building 4. This should be avoided by all. Room was dank and unpleasant. Only one light fitting worked and patio door didn’t lock. Got another room the next day on third floor of building 10 - great room and what I expected. Food - only used the buffet and food was always cold to luke warm, even when a fresh dish had just come out. The exception was the pasta station as it was made to order so always hot. Beach snack ‘van’ was decent enough for burgers and fries. Niggles - tv didn’t receive most of the channels. Reported it on day two and engineer attended twice and deduced the satellite dish was at fault and it would be fixed the next day. At time of writing it’s ten days later and still not working. Bars - last bar closes at midnight which in my opinion isn’t good enough for all inclusive. Bar staff generally good but the lobby bar staff have made an art of looking busy while not actually doing anything which makes the queues ridiculously long at times. Beach - out of the hotels control, but beach erosion is pretty bad here. If you want wide sandy beaches go elsewhere- here you will have tree roots and sand bags holding it all together. Julio on reception is very good, shame most of the other staff don’t follow suit. Mini bar and coffee in room is stocked at day one (a few beers/soft drinks/ coffee) but that’s it. There’s a card that says those were complimentary and if you want more then buy from the on-site shop. Water is replenished each day. House keeping is excellent. Wi-fi is fairly poor and in public areas only. None in rooms. In room safe must be paid for. Overall, not terrible but nowhere near great. Wouldn’t recommend.…
This resort is amazing, all services are excellent, what I was having a bad time with is instead something else. I experienced 3 times waking-up at night being not able to breathe due to burned plastic smell lasting several hours. I understand these practiced of burning rubbish is done on a regular basic, even though illegally, but it poses a serious health risk of getting poisoned. I understand authorities are not able to control this phenomenon, since it has been happening for more than 10 years without any resolution. Pity since otherwise the place is really amazing, especially the beach.
We are Canadian. This is our third time to the DR and definitely not our last. We used to travel to the Bahamas every other year but found the climate and waters much warmer in the Dominican. I would say we are middle-class and travel twice a year with a $3000 +/- budget for each trip. I say this so you have a better understanding of our opinion. If your budget is much lower or much higher, you should consider an appropriate resort to match your lifestyle. Some resorts have bottled beer while others offer draft only. Some offer plates with discerning tastes and others focus on a "fast food" type menu. Lastly, some have exquisite rooms with personal service and some are just your basic room. You can't compare low, med and top end to one another. If your intentions are to drink all day and all night, likewise there's a place that caters to that as well; most resorts will shut down bars around 6 -10 pm since the majority of visitors to the Caribbean are for the sun and beach -- not necessarily the "night life". Out of the three resorts we visited to date, we would say Vista Sol was the best one. The resort is medium sized which makes walking from one part to another pleasurable and not tiring. Our first room was not too good since the air conditioning was barely operational and the neighboring property had construction going on -- not what one wants to hear on vacation. Personally, I would stay away from Block 10 (the swim up rooms) just because they seem dated, our beds were too hard there and noise from the construction was a problem. However, another couple we met loved the serenity from Block 10 which does sit off to the side of the resort slightly. We enlisted the aid of Guest Services and Teobalda took care of everything. This woman is caring and proficient -- always Jumbo Teo, no Medium ;o) We moved to Block 1 and what a big difference. Regardless of what room you are in, you will need to put down a floor towel to capture the run off from the shower. Angle the shower head to the inside wall -- it helps! Not a big fan of the pillows. They are like MY Pillow but somewhat clumpy and firm. You will need an extra blanket from Housekeeping since the beds are positioned under the air conditioning when they should be against the opposite wall. As funny as it may sound, I don't drink draft so I buy my Presidente beer down there and enjoy the convenience of beer on ice with my cooler (soft packed) on the beach. Make sure to bring an insulated drink cup with you that fits 2-3 drinks in it; it will save you from repeat visits to the bar. The buffet was surprisingly good. My wife and I agreed that there was something for everyone on display; understanding they cater to all walks from many countries. The A la carte restaurants were very good. In order of rating (good to best) we enjoyed Gourmet, BBQ American, Italian and best overall -- Mexican. Both the Italian and Mexican we highly recommend. If you are still a bit "peckish" after dining, it may be that you haven't eaten since breakfast??? There's always the buffet as a back up...LOL. The food truck is actually very good. They serve burgers, fries, hot dogs and pizza. The pools are sparkling and very well kept. It's not really a "party" resort but they do pump things up once in a while. The beach is very nice but expect waves like off the east coast of the States since this does rest in the Atlantic. We found many of the staff to be very hard working and others doing at least their part -- no slouches. Tipping is something everyone should do. After a restaurant meal, at least once daily to the bartenders and for sure to Housekeeping -- even a buck or two goes a long way. Yes, it IS humid down there -- it's the Dominican so get used to it. Be sure to fill out your E-Ticket to enter AND leave the Dominican. Do both at the same time 2-3 days before you fly to the Dominican Republic. Remember, you need one E-Ticket for each traveler; you can select travel companion(s) to add people to the E-Ticket. The WIFI at this resort is very bad. If you just need to check in on emails, it will work best in the lobby and on the beach by the bar. One of the leading cellular providers in the DR offers 5 GB data for 5 days = 150 DOP - $2.7 USD, 10 GB data for 10 days = 295 DOP - $5.4 USD, or 15 GB data for 15 days = 450 DOP - $8.2 USD. Well worth it! You’ll have to show I.D. and have your photo taken it you choose to pick up one of these sim cards. They also offer and electronic sim card. There is a Supermercado Ciccolella (supermarket) just 7-8 minutes walk down (south) on Ave Alemania. You can also take a Tuk tuk down and back for $200 pesos ($4 USD) -- just look for one on the roadway. Super nice guys and a fun ride. You will have to meet him or any other Uber type at the front gate; only taxis are allowed up the driveway. My wife and I have decided to learn Spanish since this makes it easier and more respectful of their culture -- Google does not translate exactly and some meanings are lost in translation. At the very least, learn the minimums to get by. The Dominican people are very friendly and know more English than we do Spanish. Besides, you know how we reflect upon foreigners here when they don’t speak English…so extend the courtesy. If we could pick this resort up and move it to our favorite part of the island (the south side), it would for sure be a favorite spot of ours. Thanks to everyone at Vista Sol Punta Cana! S&A…
Absolutely terrible!! No one person spoke English, our hotel bar wasn’t stocked with anything. Bar closed at 12am when it said 00:00 on the site which at other resorts usually means 24 hours. You get harassed none stop on the beach by people trying to sell you things, braid your hair or give you massages. The attitude of the staff was just so negative and we felt like we were bothering them just by being there. Zero customer service and tons of false advertising on the site. Pillows stunk and were lumpy, housekeeper broke a very precious necklace of mine then hid it from me. We missed out on event because no one told us anything and again only spoke Spanish. This totally ruined the experience and wasn’t relaxing in the slightest. The beach was full of sea weed and the waves were so violent it was brutal to swim in. Just avoid this place at all costs…
I am very satisfied with hotel service, rooms are comfortable and clean, the food is excellent. All compliments for the animation team, especially for Johana, Maria, Francisco and Jonatan. I would highly recommend this hotel
