We chose this hotel for the location and family friendly service. This is our first time in DR and we loved the country. We will definitely come back, just not to this hotel! Hotel is ok, although a lot of services are reduced. This was our long awaited big family reunion. On the last day of stay I had my birthday. We arranged for a birthday cake at Kyoto restaurant. My 83-year old father was especially looking forward to it as this was our first celebration together in many years. Imagine that after waiting and waiting for a VERY long time with three young kids with us barely staying awake, finally they bring the cake....at the moment when my father and another family member went to the bathroom!!!! I understand that service is often not great in Punta Cana and it is unfortunately true. But this was beyond disapponting for us.... my father was heartbroken and felt like it was because of him.... the waiter didn’t even apologize... please beware if you plan for anything special. My evening was ruined because somebody could not care enough to do their job..

We have stayed at Barcelo Palace Gran Resort Punta Cana over 15 times within the last 20 years. This last vacation was different because of the current Pandemic, with restrictions set and safety measures taken our trip overall was great. The Barcelo Resorts established a high level of hospitality with their guest. When we arrived, the bell man greeted us and disinfected all our luggages and backpacks (great precaution taken with several people handling your luggage at the airport). We checked in at the concierge office and was give great room with ocean view. During our stay we noticed all staff members working hard, using precautions, wearing face mask at all times, extra cleaning/disinfecting of the bar area and practicing social distancing at restaurants/buffet. Buffet food stations are completely covered with the chefs serving the food as a precaution. (Excellent system for the current circumstances). Adult pool area was private with limited capacity and plenty of space. The pool was clean, the bar was clean and service was outstanding. The bar tenders Radaisa, Marcia, Santo and Luis all rotated shifts however the drinks and service were outstanding. Rada makes the best Mojitos at the resort. Buffet was open for breakfast and lunch the majority of the day.The food and service was great!!! They had plenty of selections available at both servings. The staff was friendly and providing a great welcoming atmosphere. We had excellent service from Cesar at lunch and Rene at breakfast. While also being greeted by one the managers Franklin on a daily basis. We noticed at lunch everyday the General Managers and President of the company would eat lunch at the buffet. This is unique, as the top executive of the resort eat at the same location of their guest. Whereas if the food and service is great for the CEO and GM it’s great for the guest!! We spoke with the GM simple conversation and humbling enough when we went to our room the next night we had a nice display of chocolate strawberries and sweets. A simple gesture on how they appreciate their guest. Overall, the dinner restaurants at night had a good menu selection. 4 restaurants are available (French, Spainish, Japanese and Mexican). My favorite was the Espana Restaurant (Lamb Shank) and French restaurant (Lobster and Duck). Overall, it was upsetting to see such a great resort with limited amount of people, because of the world pandemic, however our experience was outstanding. All the staff from the President, GM, managers and team members are all working hard to provide the guest with a positive experience of safety, cleanliness, and outstanding service.

The service is bad, the food is bad, the costummer service is bad, i dont recomend anybody to come to this place. I know we re in covid19 pandemic but it does not justify the horrible service ive received here

Small amounts of food and the worst quality. Horrible customer service. I know we re in covid19, but this is the worst service ive received in my life!

I had great references about this place but after my experience I honestly wish I went somewhere else. The guide, Samy, lied to us, he sold us a boggie tour and mentioned it was to a private cave, then we realized we were taken to a public cave to visit. They stole my best friend's wallet in front ouf our eyes and nobody from management did anything, they said they will look into it and let us know in 48-72 hours, knowing that we were leaving prior to that. I personally caught a 12 year old stealing our bag, and he was staying at the hotel too. The service was horrible, thwy would take long time to attend you and the buffet and the drinks were warm. Wifi in the hotel was horrible, it only worked in the room, and it was in and out the whole time, I had to go to the lobby and get a new user name and password. The light outside in the balcoby never worked even though we reported it. The phone in the room had no signal, the lobby told us it was a general problem and they were working on it, but they never fixed it. The quality of the drinks were horrible, a 5 start hotel was using "real Kola" which it's not near any taste of coca-cola. Honestly I'm very disappointed at this experience, the place loos great with great rooms but need more personnel and more security.
