The service needs work, everyone expected tips for just doing their job despite not going above and beyond to earn it. The beggars on the beach worked harder than the employee bringing drinks, even after tipping. Food was very disappointing, during many different meals. But the rooms are amazing! And the beach and waterpark are so much fun and enjoyable. Also room-service breakfast is the way to go every morning!

Hotel's Favorite
My wife surprised me with a birthday weekend at the Grand Reserve. It's a very new facility that is part of the Melia complex that we've visited many times. From our arrival, we were impressed! The first feelings on arrival continued through our departure, and I will try to objectify some of my observations. We had a personal concierge that was very service oriented, personable and professional. Ours knew the facilities and gave us space. He wasn't pushy with up-selling but helped us with our room/suite and reservations for the Japanese grill and the steak house. He was concerned with us having a perfect stay. The staff overall were an effective team for our stay. I've found that the quality of my experience in a resort hotel was based on the way it is managed. On arrival, the manager greeted us at the desk and made known that we could request his attention at any time. With the pandemic, real measures are being taken, in all facets of the operation. We saw constant cleaning of surfaces after guests left, such as tables or the desk. Everyone was wearing masks and there was a lot of distancing, in the restaurants and public areas. There weren't many other guests, but staffing was sufficient to keep wait times minimum to non-existent. Distances are always an issue in resorts. There is access to pools from the ground floor rooms. There are many activities that we didn't observe or participate in when it comes to the pools. This hotel is not on the beach, but is just a few minutes away on a tram, or about a 10 minute walk, with many tropical flowers on the way. The hotel is designed so you don't have long distances between your room and the restaurants and lobby.

Dear reganinSDQ, Thank you very much for taking the time to describe to us your first experience at The Grand Reserve. Surpassing our guests´ expectations is the basis in the design and selection of the different hotel services offered; your satisfaction motivates us to provide you the authentic Paradisus Experience. For this reason, to realize that we exceed your expectations makes us happy. As a result of the consequences caused by this pandemic, several industries had to adapt their activities to guarantee the safety of their customers. In this regard, our industry was no exception and therefore the company launched the ¨Stay Safe with Melia¨ program in collaboration with Bureau Veritas, who provided guidelines to ensure that our services comply with the measures established by the Health Authority. We are very pleased to know that this program and its regulations have been appreciated by you during your stay; in this regard, we would like to mention that like you the Ministry of Tourism, through its Minister, after visiting our property, has applauded such measures. It would be a pleasure for us to receive you soon again. Kind regards, Guest Service Center Management

Wonderful experience! We loved everything about our stay except for the lack of chairs around the main pool. Once the chairs by the cabana loungers were taken, there weren’t any lounge chairs around to lay on.

Just got back from a week stay at The Grand Reserve At Paradisus Palma Real. Two adults and two teenagers. Every room is a suite, which provides two rooms, a spacious bathroom and a nice size patio. The rooms are quite sound proof too. The staff at the resort were all quite friendly and hospitable. The beds were comfortable, but at some point the room got a little warm. Our Concierge was Andy Constante and he was amazing!! He was able to book all our reservation at the restaurants and answer all our questions and was always there if we needed him. He booked our Covid test, transportation, and sent us the activity schedule daily. He would find us somewhere at the beach or resort daily! Food: The food was not the best we had, but was ok. Mina the steak house was our favorite. We also enjoyed the hibachi at Kao. Our first restaurants was Lemon fish, which was probably our least favorite. Aquamarine was not our favorite for lunch but we had a really nice dinner there one evening. Day time: We went to the beach each day. It is a 2- minute golf cart ride to the beach or a quick 1/2 mile walk. While there was not much activity like at some other all inclusive, we all seemed to find enough to do and also just enjoyed the R&R. there is a main pool that we didn't really go to much as it seemed to be filled with families with little kids, but every building also has it's own pool, that we enjoyed using later in the day We felt very safe at the resort. Covid-19 precautions were in place everywhere. Everyone wore masks and staff were able to provide one if needed. There was sanitizer everywhere, everything was constantly being wiped down and if you were eating at the buffet, disposable gloves needed to be used. The gym is quite small, but adequate and clean. Like everything else it is 50% capacity at the most so reservations were needed. There were a few other fitness classes over the week but at odd times so I only took one cycle class, which was fun!

We had a wonderful time at Grand Reserve for a week for Spring Break. I was very pleased that they were very cautious and organized regarding being COVID safe. They require masks on in public and in restaurants until you are seated to eat. They require plastic gloves that they supply when at buffets. Most people wore masks walking surround but there were a few people that just didn't care which was dissappointing. We had fun at the beach party and you could tell the workers put a lot of work into making it safe by staggering the reservation times so it wasn't crowded at any given time. We had 2 swim out suites for the past week in building 3 and it was awesome. We loved it. Beautiful resort and great service. Lucy, Francisco, Enrique and other workers at Mangu were awesome. Santos was our favorite pool side cocktail server. Jesus and the girl pool side servers were also good. But Santos stood out and did a great job taking care of our drinks and always had a great attitude, he made us happy each time he stopped by to check on us. We missed him on his day off. 😁 The servers at the buffet also did a great job. Everyone here was so nice. We'd definitely consider coming back again. The only complaint that we had was the food was hit or miss. Mangu was always good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We could always find something at the buffet. They would make my picky son a cheese only pizza whenever we asked. The steak restaurant over cooked all our steaks and they were thin and tough. I really liked the chicken sandwich at the Tavern but everyone else in my family ordered burgers and all were over cooked and barely edible. The fries and shakes were good though. The good definitely out weighed the couple bad meals.
