The hotel complex itself is stunning. It’s fairly new and has some great facilities, the gym and the waterpark are amazing. Some people question whether it is a 5-star hotel. I would say, having previously been to Cuba, that it’s Caribbean 5-star. It’s not comparable with European levels, but it’s a high standard for the region. You only have to travel five minutes from the resort to see abject poverty, so for the country its definitely 5-star. The food was ok, with plenty of choice. The buffet is mostly the same every day, but there’s lots to choose from. The stand alone restaurants were good, with the Italian being a highlight. For the most part the staff were friendly and helpful. There were one or two who were just plain rude, but most of them were good. The staff at the goldfish beach club were easily the best. One of the male waiters, named Joan (who could mimic bird song) was brilliant and deserves a special mention. Check in was tricky because the level of English spoken was very poor. It was poor throughout the hotel and for an international hotel I would expect a higher level of English, especially on reception. A lot of the receptionists/check in staff resorted to using google translate on their phones, playing messages back to customers. There are rules in the hotel which are there for everyone’s comfort. For example, no speaker systems to be played. But nobody enforces the rules, and guests play music everywhere, which can get very annoying. Also putting towels on the sunbeds. It says they will be removed, but they aren’t. The beach is lovely, but again, not without problems. It is a private beach for hotel guests, but so many sunbeds were taken up by locals and people not staying at the hotel. Again, the beach ‘security’ did nothing about it, even when asked to. The biggest problem with the hotel is the total absence of any management. We stayed two weeks and never saw a manager, even when we asked to see one. For a hotel of this size, I expected to see a general manager walking around the hotel, interacting with guests. It feels like the staff have to sort every problem on their own, there is no management to back them up or help. A lot of people were complaining and I felt sorry for the staff, who were trying to help but didn’t really know what to do. Overall, the hotel was stunning, and well maintained. But the absence of any visible management team is a massive issue. If you are lucky and the other guests are considerate, and your room is nice, then no problem. However, if you do encounter problems, you may well find your holiday is less than perfect. With a competent management team in place, I would return without question.

Beautiful resort and pleasant staff. Clean and well cared for. Food was good with plenty of choices. We stayed at this resort as a family Dec 24-Jan7/22. Given it is a pandemic time, I think this was the most challenging for everyone. Resort does well to provide and make accessible to everyone masks. I do not know if they are medical grade, three ply, etc as we brought our own (which I assumed everyone would and this was clearly a wrong assumption.) there are signs everywhere requiring guests to wear masks at bars, restaurants, buffet, lobby, gym, anywhere indoors. There is very little enforcement of this and many guests were not wearing a mask or wearing below the nose, on their chin, on their elbow. After two years, I would expect people to know how to wear a mask correctly. I cannot and do not hold the resort completely responsible for this, we are guests in someone else’s country and we need to respect this. Guests were not respectful of wearing masks nor bringing their own, wearing for a few minutes, throwing out and getting new masks contributing to excess garbage. Quite disheartening the behaviour of many. Many staff wore their masks appropriately but not all. Guests could be quite rude and demanding of staff and staff maintained their smile and grace. At this resort you cannot hold lounge chairs for other members of your party with a beach towel. Staff will come and take your towel (even while you are sitting in the chair beside!) and do not speak English so one may not be sure what’s happening. Leave your belongings on the chair instead. There were days there were not enough chairs and guests were taking it upon themselves to grab chairs when one left for walk, bathroom, swim, meal, etc. Resort has lifeguards….they like to use their whistle if you sit on the pool wall. Beware! It’s for safety and that’s understandable but rather annoying sound that you will hear repeatedly. There is no social distancing in the buffet but again this comes down to guest behaviour and the resort not controlling it in any way. Buffet staff will give you a glove to wear on your hand for scooping up food reducing contact with utensils. Resort allows smoking and vaping everywhere…..including meal areas. I would like to see restrictions on food areas. We did not partake in the entertainment activities as we were there to relax. There was no focus in your face COVID talk like here in Canada and nice for a break from this. Go to the medical clinic directly to book your PCR test and it is $80 USD vs through the resort costing $100 USD. Lots of various shops in the Boulevard area and beach stores right beside the resort. My husband really enjoyed the coffee shop (I don’t drink coffee). Our phone in our room did not work. I notified reception three times and it was not fixed. Anytime we wanted room service we had to go to reception to order. Room service menu is limited. Overall, had we visited this resort during a non pandemic time I think my rating would be higher but the lack of enforcement of mask wearing and distancing/numbers in buffet, it affected my ability to truly enjoy this resort and all it had to offer…I can’t speak to if this would be the same in other all inclusive resorts though. This is a large resort, quiet overall. Staff were quite pleasant and worked very hard. Given it is pandemic time, if you are concerned about COVID, it’s important to know in the airports there is no distancing nor mask enforcement either despite the clear signage. In Punta Cana you will be like a stuffed sardine on the bus from the plane to the terminal.

Staff are not trained properly , due to lack of information provided by the receptionist it ruined my holiday , very misinformative . Not happy at all , regardless of the situation it is your duty to satisfy your customer and provide good customer service which in this case you have completely failed to do so , very disappointing . You would think for a hotel Like this you are going to have well trained staff however they do not care about their customer satisfaction at all . The supervisor Victor did not handle the situation well at all , instead of coming to ask what the problem is to help the situation , he barged in with map shouting and rudely speaking and at the end he walked out on us without the problem solved very unprofessional !
