Fantastic : there is no other word If you want calm, serenity, and beautiful place, you have to go in this hotel. On top, for those who have a good level of water board, surfing, you will have awesome waves. Restaurant offers good quality plates. Do not hesitate to ask more if you think quantity is not enough You stay in indépendant cottages very typical and good quality. They can arrange transfers to and from the hotel (depends where you come from or where you want to go). You can also rent motor bike to discover the region (small roads) To be honest, one of the best place I never discovered : a paradise
This place is fantastic. Well worth the adventurous trip in along narrow roads that build the anticipation.Traditional Javanese villas set in lush surrounds next to what feels like a private beach. Life is easy with no pressure from the staff only just for you to have the best time relaxing and enjoying their great hospitality. The pool area and grounds were immaculate, the food was simple but very tasty (one night they were busy with a large group so set up a little table for us on the sand under candlelight - helped them and made a memory for us ). Check out their site they have fantastic photos and info on transfers etc also BOOK DIRECT - we were not sure about doing it that way but it is 100% fine and you get meals included compared to the price you pay booking via other means. Oh and the paddleboarding trip down the local river - we have so many good memories of this place we'd love everyone to be able to spend some time here but also we'd love to keep it a secret! It felt like maybe what Bali must have been so many many years ago. Thank you Desa Limasan Retreat for such a relaxing stay!! (only -ve if you have to find one to make writing a review balanced is the menu was very limited you need to like rice or noodle else you'll be stuck but most of Java was like that for us)…
This place is truly awesome ! They named it retreat for a good reason indeed...the service here is really intimate and personalized. It provides only limited number of cottages...hence very limited number of guests on any given time. Beautiful view of watukarung beach, calm surroundings, friendly people around and bunch of activities that can done makes it a perfect place for vacation. Board paddling through the river was our favorite activity here...it was really fun ! We also enjoy beach hopping to numerous fantastic beach nearby... The food that they served here at the restaurant was also very good
What a beautiful location and stunning, sympathetically built Pondoks right by the sea. The pictures say it all. The finish on the Pondoks is of the highest standard. Food was fabulous. Staff gorgeous. The mains beach is not really suitable for swimming as the coral reef comes right up to the steep beach. However if you're a surfer then I suspect u will think youve gone to heaven. I'm not bit the surf was up up up the 3 days we were there. Compensating for the slightly alarming power of the sea and coral reef are the facilities at the hotel. lovely pool and a snooker and table tennis table. The lovely thing about this resort is that it is a relatively new loc for foreigners so no high rises and mostly Indonesians there. The down side is that there's quite a lot of plastic rubbish about which they burn right by the beach in little piles. Small price to pay. There are 2 smaller beaches that look wonderful and less corally but there is no advice available as to rip tides and other hazards. should be easy for them to sort that out. Also a kettle in your room would be good…
We stay only one night here and choose the villa with small pool in the hill. The view is superb. If we booked from online website we got breakfast only, but if we book directly to the hotel we will got breakfast, dinner and lunch. The food was so delicious. Will come back for sure!
We were here (Oct) in the low season. We had some rain, it was overcast, the surf was not big (still 3m waves), most rooms were empty: perfect. I can only say it was perfect. The service, the friendly staff, the pool, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only downside is to see how plastics are ruining our planet. It is everywhere outside the resort. That is a shame. Looking at other reviews around Java and Bali, it is not different elsewhere.
Desa Limasan was the best place we've ever stayed in Indonesia. Located just a few steps to a perfect beach with amazing world-class waves, it provided a playground of fun including a beautiful pool, paddle board adventures (included in cost), activities for kids and adults alike. The food was incredible. Three meals a day served at residence, the service was prompt and always on-time! Desa Limasan had all the western amenities one could wish including hot/cold bathing with great pressure, an in-room water dispenser with hot and cold filtered water, as well as daily immaculate cleaning by the staff. I couldn't say better things about every staff member and owner, who treated us as welcomed guests and family! For future adventurers, a few tips. - Arrive/depart at night- less traffic on the roads from Yogyakarta to Desa Limasan and Watukarung beach. - Expect a 2.5-3.5 hour drive from Yogyakarta with bumpy roads yet beautiful scenery. - The beach is not for beginner/inexperienced surfers or swimmers. There is a very strong rip current going out to sea. - There is a great convenience store with adult/baby toiletries, medical supplies, packaged food and drink right nearby Desa Limasan in Watukarung. - When booking, contact Desa Limasan direct as meals are included in total cost per night. - Fun fact: this area has only had electricity for about 10 years (amazing!) so just remember, if the wifi isn't super fast, you're at the edge of a jungle :) Thank you Desa Limasan, Roman, Takim, and all the staff for your kindness and hospitality. We cannot wait to return.…
My wife and I stayed 5 nights at Desa Limasan and we loved every minute of it. We are not surfers but it was fascinating to watch the experts surf the dangerous double break at Watu Karung beach. The resort itself is absolutely top notch with beautiful villas built in traditional Javanese style, a wonderful swimming pool, great food, excellent staff and service and a great location from where we visited waterfalls, beaches and the fabulous Guo Gong limestone caves. A very relaxing place where you can just veg out release all those tensions. Pak Roman has done a wonderful job to design and build this gem of a place. We will definately be back.
We only had one night to stay in the wonderful two bedroom, two bathroom house. View from the veranda on the garden and the sea. The houses are gorgeous with comfortable traditional furniture and all services. Nice pool and garden, acces to the beach where you can buy local refreshments and food. The sea is very goor for surfing and the with the characteristic rocks it gives a splendid view. Nice food for breakfast and dinner. A place with strong good energy, where I practiced yoga and meditation at sunrise. Luxury, peace, nature and space. We will definitely visit again, and stay longer!
I live in Yogyakarta. I've been to Desa Limasan numerous times with family, friends or by myself. The first time I went the fridge was a bit warm and the manager replaced the fridge immediately. That was pretty much a marker for the high quality of service, warmth and attention to detail of the staff from the beginning. I've never had a problem there and always feel at home with the staff and owner Pak Roman and his daughter who handles the bookings. Desa Limasan is value for money. The houses are immaculate, and 3 good meals are included in the room fee, and the staff are happy to cook the meals as you like it. Pak Roman has capitalised of Desa Limasan's most prized possession in this densely populated island -- space. His highly manicured spacious lawns literally make you unwind as soon as you've settled in. The beach is cleaner than most NOT CROWDED and swimmable at certain times of day and a big attraction for surfers. The community living around the hotel are friendly, gracious and totally unphased by foreigners. I'd go every month if I could. Salaam, Nadiah…
