Salvaterra Country House & SPA is an affordable luxury country house, set in tropical landscaped garden, just 35 min away from Lisbon. Sink into a more leisurely pace of life in our magical retreat located in one of Portugal’s least-discovered area-Ribatejo. The country house is a hidden oasis for peaceful travellers and is perfect for escaping the bustle of city life. Time seems to stand still at this out-of-town haven, where days and nights are given over to total indulgence. The atmosphere at Salvaterra Country House & SPA exudes a sense of comfort and tranquillity with generously-sized suites decorated in elegant, new Mediterranean style A theme of understated comfort and sophistication runs through all the four spacious suites, where a soft, neutral colour palette makes the most of the natural light. Each room is designed to be a home-away-from home and feature a large terrace, kitchenette and bathtub. Wake to the sound of birdsong drifting in through the window. Enjoy a leisurely morning with breakfast in bed or on your private terrace, or perhaps start the day with a dip in the pool, overlooking the lush scenery. Find a shady spot in the tropical gardens and relax surrounded by lily-filled ponds, banana palms and exotic flowers. In the afternoon, why not take a boat safari on Tagus river, or even head out on a sightseeing tour exploring the great outdoors of Ribatejo region -so unique for its culture and natural beauty! As evening draws in, sip cocktails in the bar or indulge in pampering at the sauna, Turkish bath and outdoor jacuzzi or simply simply curl up by the fire and relax.

I enjoyed slow mornings with breakfast on the terrace, the scent on entering the room after the cleaners have been in (I've no idea where it was coming from, so I'm putting it down to witchcraft), exploring the tropical garden, and sleeping—the beds are heaven. The mister and I spent time in both a suite, which was super spacious and absolutely beautiful, and a villa, which is extra special as it's wrapped in greenery and has a constant, therapeutic sound of running water from its plunge pool. The communal kitchen looks fantastic and is spotless; it saved us a few times as the restaurants in Portugal tend to close between 3-7 pm and often require booking ahead. A car is needed to eat and explore—there are plenty of incredible places to day-trip to, and we preferred the food options in Santerém, a 30-minute drive away, over those closer to the hotel. The mass of plants keeps Salvaterra predominantly cool and shaded, and as the pools (villa and communal) are unheated, we didn't take a dip. So, for us, this place was more of a luxurious base than somewhere to spend lazy days. However, I'm told heated pools and an in-house restaurant are in the pipeline. Thank you to the team for a wonderful stay—Rosalia and Raquel are the perfect hosts.

Three days in which it felt like we were in another country. It was a truly memorable experience. This charming tropical hotel offers a perfect blend of tranquility, comfort and elegance.
From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm and welcoming service. The attention to detail and dedication to making the stay enjoyable were evident from the start.
The ambiance is simply stunning. From the moment we pass through the gate, we are surrounded by a stunning environment, a tropical and exotic atmosphere. The well-kept garden, with well-designed corners, provide a perfect setting for a serene and relaxing retreat for two.

It is a unique place: a true paradise in Portugal. The rooms are excellent and the bathtub and fireplace add a romantic and cozy touch.
The breakfast is divine, especially the croissants, fresh orange juice, fruit board, yogurt and granola.
The room is very well equipped and the teas were excellent.
The employees are very attentive and always ready to help. We also really enjoyed enjoying the Dutch bath on a cold night, it is really very hot and even at 3ºC it is impossible to be cold.
The honesty bar concept is very interesting and the drink prices are completely affordable. This time we didn't enjoy the bar but next time I will.
I loved my stay and I'm planning to return on my wedding anniversary to surprise my wife ❤️

Location: very poor surroundings!
Place itself: amazing!
Bedroom: outstanding!
Service: one of the worst I've ever had! total lack of courtesy and education. When I arrived I rang at one of the gates, the young woman barely spoke and hung up, then opened another gate far away; then when I drove in I was just asked my name, no "Welcome!", no "Did you have a nice trip?", nothing. She just asked the scripted questions she had to get answers to, completely self-centered, showing absolutely no interest in the wellbeing of the guests.
Breakfast for 2, regarding protein, contains only 2 thin slices of cheese (and 4 of ham, but one of us doesn't eat meat, so cheese was the only option). When I checked out I asked why didn't they offer at least boiled eggs and I was told they do offer that option for customers that stay longer! What's the cost of 2 boiled eggs?? Most likely under 1 euro! And you prefer to leave customers unsatisfied than to incur 1 additional euro in cost for 2 boiled eggs?? Unbelievable!

I stayed 2 nights in this wonderful place and was literally surprised by the beauty, style, taste and quality of everything. This place is truly exceptional. Incredible garden with fishes and turtles in the pond, spacious room with wooden stove and big bathtub, sauna, hammam and hot bath outside - perfect hideaway from busy life. Stuff and administration are super welcoming and ready to accommodate. I saw care and thought in every little detail in this place which is really a rare thing even in expensive and known hotels, and I traveled a lot!
Some very gourmand restaurants in the area. And amazing 2,5 hours river Tejo tour which is a must!
All my best wishes to this beautiful house, as it’s the places like this that deserve to be known!

Thank you again,
Alina

We stayed in one of the bungalows for a few days and the room, the outside area, the service from all staff and the breakfast were nothing short of perfect.

The experience was great throughout, but have to emphasise that the excellent service provided by all staff members was made our stay so special.

The only addition I would ask is that they hotel think about providing an on site restaurant to make your stay all that more special.

An amazing concept, a petit oasis with well decorated and cozy apartments. Sofia is adorable and welcomed us in a very kind way showing the property around and she was available at all times to spoil us and provide all the comfort. What impressed us, despite the lush gardens and beautiful decoration, the sympathy of Sofia, was the punctually of our arrangements, fully respected to be admired and cherished. A place to return for sure...congratulations for a very well thought of ambience and atmosphere, unique in Portugal.

Fantastic spacious bungalow, comfortable beds. A magical place with a tropical garden - you feel like you are in Bali. The only points for improvement: On Sunday evenings, it was difficult to get food, the hotel has no restaurant of its own, the surrounding areas have little infrastructure. I took part in the boat tour, and this tour is also highly recommended.

Very dense and beautiful vegetation, allowing a quiet and relaxing environment, with ambient music in the right tone and type, friendly and available people.
Services that are worthwhile, with emphasis on the detail of breakfast, very diverse, tasty, and distributed very rotately in a small basket. Suggestions from the site for activities out of space, such as wine tasting, boat ride etc, were very helpful.
Very good and refreshing experience
