Perfect stay. These apartments are located next to the beach with stunning views. The property offers all amenities as promised and does not disappoint. Be sure to have a sunset dinner in the restaurant. Overall, a great experience for our family!
My husband and I stayed at the Valero for a month with our 5 month old, and could not have been happier. The pool was a perfect escape from the heat, the ocean was close for a quick dip, the restaurant served us great food (love those cheap drinks of the day!), the grounds were immaculately kept, and we felt safe and supported! The staff was lovely and quick to help us with anything we needed (fresh towels, new water jugs, more drinks of the day, etc.). We also felt very safe considering it's covid times - the staff wore masks 100% of the time and everything seemed clean. The location was also great - it's a 3 minute walk from the best grocery store in town and just a quick jaunt on the beach to the main drag. We loved being close to the action to feel included, but far enough a way to feel like we weren't in the thick of it. This was a perfect getaway with our infant - I'd highly recommend it to anyone!…
A beautiful resort with ‘most’ of the staff very friendly and helpful, great food and drinks and we loved the daily happy hour however, at the beginning of our second week we suffered a robbery. All of our cash, travel documentation including passports, jewellery and other items which had been ‘safely’ locked in the in-room safe were taken along with the safe! Yes the entire safe was stolen, it was literally ripped out of the wardrobe! Initially both Security and Reception staff seemed disinterested stating that we would need to speak to the apartment owner. To this day neither the hotel or the apartment owner have assisted us in claiming against their insurance or recouping our losses for what was woefully inadequate security (contracted by the owners and the hotel). We noted that other resorts in Cabarete employed several armed Security Guards and had locked gates, with anyone venturing close to the perimeter robustly challenged, this was sadly not the case at Velero Beach resort. We did not like to see armed Guards but following our experience this would clearly deter any trespassers or thieves! Velero Beach resort had a beach access gate which was unlocked and open during daylight hours and on a daily basis we noted people who clearly were not guests eating at the poolside restaurant and using the pool! The apartment owner was helpful and over the next few days took us to Police Stations and translated for us and arranged for a taxi to take us on the 9 hour round trip to the British Embassy in Santa Domingo to collect Emergency Travel Passports. Despite the thief (not a local but a caucasian male appearing to be in his early 20’s) being caught on camera fleeing the scene with the safe (sadly only visible from behind and we have not been provided with any footage of him entering or leaving the apartment, despite several requests), he has not been caught although security was markedly stepped up the day after the robbery with increased patrols, additional lighting and cameras installed and foliage around the apartment cleared, sadly all too late for us! Disappointingly, despite there being an owners meeting the morning after the robbery, not one of the seriously wealthy owners offered to financially assist us in any way, despite us being left without cash or credit cards with many actually saying to a fellow guest that it “wasn’t their problem”! Very disappointing and thank god for the help of our family. Our awful second week was finally capped when we arrived at the airport to fly home. The Emergency Travel Passport would not link with the airport system and it took almost 3 hours to resolve the issue. Thankfully the amazing West Jet Captain delayed the plane for us and the very helpful check in Supervisor managed at the last minute to successfully check us in! A very stressful, upsetting and traumatic second week which has destroyed any chances of us ever returning to Velero Beach or the Dominican Republic.…
The room had a fantastic view over the ocean and pool. The decoration was a bit dated and it needs a revamping. The bed was a bit hard and too short in length. The balcony was specious and pleasant. The infinity pool was incredible with warm water. It is big enough for a good swim. The restaurant has a beautiful setting, perfect for a cocktail at sunset.
Property seems very clean and well maintained. Very close to nice beaches and restaurants however the hotel beach is not good at all. I have not yet had a chance to enjoy the pool but writing this review mainly because sleep is very important to me and I’ve been awake since 3am due to the bed being extremely hard and the pillows being flattened. Just want to make any travelers alert that these beds are like sleeping on rocks.
I used to live in Cabarete and dreamed of staying there. Now I do when I visit, it is amazing. I always get a room with a kitchen. I love everything about this hotel even the ocean smell it leaves on my clothes. The rooms are very clean. The staff is very serious about covid as well. I feel like Cabarete has become a hidden gem over the last 10 years. But that being said I have been staying here since 2015 and will keep coming back.
Nice smaller resort. Some condos have full time residents. Staff is ,out excellent, including the restaurant!! Fabulous large breakfast included. Love the coffee with the view. Infinity pool is awesome. Easy access to wade in the ocean also. Very safe with private security too. I want to return!! Loved watching the kiteboarder too!! perfect.
Just stayed 4 days, 3 nights here, could not have been a better experience. The location itself is perfect on the point and allows for walking to almost anything you could want. The views, speak for themselves. They key here, the staff. They were what we wish we found at all of our stays throughout each year, and we stay about 100+ nights minimum annually. They even had the local doctor come to the hotel to perform our needed covid-19 test to return to the states. The restaurant was perfect and we used it much more than planned. We will stay here as we finalize our new home purchase in the area, and we will recommend this hotel always.
We payd around 250 Dollar for the hotel for 1 night! with breakfast included! for the american breakfast they served us a half of a toast, after question them if we could have the other half of it too, the answer was that we can have it but have to pay extra...realy dissapointed for such a high cost...the beach is not really nice wasnt worth to drive 3 hours up here.
There a lot of bad think. On booking ther give you a good price white breakfast includet. But when you have eaten the breakfast there cominh with a bill because you have to pay for every toast more where you ordet. Just stupid and never will come again.
