#4 of 18 hotels in Cabarete
Velero Beach Resort was the first luxury Cabarete hotel to be built and the visionary architect chose the best location on the entire beach to build. Our grounds are sheltered from the wind for the non-windsurfers, but 5 meters into the water the windsurfer or kiter will have access to the trade winds. Velero Beach Resort is the only one of the Cabarete hotels to have a small reef right out front that forms shallow tidal pools at low tide. These are perfect for the toddlers to play in protected from the waves. Our restaurant is also the only one in Cabarete that is directly on the water for perfect sunsets!

I stayed at the resort for a weekend. Property itself is cleaned, but there were no steps to go down to access the beach, which is an inconvenience for older people. Light went off on the first night. I left my son's sandals at the pool to go to the beach and when we returned they were gone. They put us in a room on the second floor with a non working air conditioner. We were moved up to the third floor, but we had to carry the luggage upstairs. They did not leave us enough towels. I reported the issue to the front desk and they told me that I had to go to the front desk and pick up additional towels because they were short staffed. There were issues with the phones so every time i needed something I had to walk down to the front office from the third floor. Breakfast was good ad the price fr the food was reasonable at the restaurant.

This was my 5th visit to the DR north coast, my 3rd time in Cabarete and this was by far the best hotel I have stayed in. I got lucky and I was given the penthouse King bed standard room which was directly in the center of the ocean view! Very relaxing and tranquil sitting on the balcony enjoying the weather, ocean breeze, watching the ocean waves. The resort grounds are impeccable. The food at the restaurant was top notch. No complaints at all except that I wish that there were some extra power outlets by the nightstands. The resort appears to be a little smaller than some of the others but not too small. I loved it and I will look to return.

I stayed at the hotel, and I was forced to stay, we went out to the pool and the weather was rainy and windy, we wanted to sit at the table and they would open a table umbrella, which was available, the lord of security was directed at us forbidding us to use the umbrella according to the orders of one of the owners of the hotel, since they did not want to get wet or damage their umbrella with the wind, I commented that, that was not my problem and that they should get us then a place to lie without getting wet, and he told us to stay in the room, I told him that I did not paid my money to stay locked in a room, and then he answered that it is my fault, for having booked with the weather like that, then i went to the reception to get my money back because I wanted to go to another hotel, and they said it was impossible, that I could withdraw but could not return my money. the receptionist was very kind, but nobody worried about solving us, neither with the umbrella, nor with an amenity, after having lost all afternoon in the lobby and they never offered us a solution, we had a terrible time

Stayed here for four nights from Dec 9-13 in a 2 bedroom penthouse(3rd fl) apartment room with my family of four(son 26-daughter 22) and had a fantastic time. Because we were well before Xmas, we basically had the place to ourselves. This is not a big resort at all, but more of a boutique hotel with a lovely pool and great restaurant. The view of Cabarete bay with all the kite surfers and waves breaking on the reefs was gorgeous and the overall peace and quiet was just what we wanted. There are no other facilities here(there is a spa but we didn't use it) but a couple minute walk bring you right into town and/or onto the main beach. There is an extremely tiny beach for the Velero which can be used for getting in to the ocean, but isn't that easy to negotiate due to some erosion from recent storms(but this I hear is temporary.) The staff were all quick friendly and professional, always there and but not in your face,

My husband and I stayed at Velero for 9 days, and we can't wait to go back. We are older but very active travelers, and this resort met our every need. Our well-appointed junior suite on the second floor had a large lounge with a complete kitchen (and water certified to drink), a lovely balcony, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom accessible from both the bedroom and lounge. Our room overlooked the inner courtyard of the resort comprising lawns, the pool, and the restaurant - all well-tended and inviting. Aside from its protected and quiet location at the end of the beautiful bay, what set this place apart was its staff. To a person, they were amazingly attentive, cheerful, engaged, and professional. While we primarily interacted with the stellar restaurant staff (we ate breakfast and dinner there each day), everyone - including the cleaners, the groundskeepers, the security, the front desk staff - were superb in both their attitudes and their professionalism. I can't compliment them highly enough.
