Positives - friendly staff, comfortable bed, and good breakfast. Negatives - hard water deposits on the bathroom fixtures and even loose bathroom fixtures, I could hear every noise from the hallway and adjoining room, slow internet (roughly 10 mbps), and the air conditioner did not work well (April in Tuxtla is hot, I arrived late and the room was at 25C. I set it on 17C, and by morning it was only down to 23.5C). The hotel was okay, but dated. It appeared nice at first, but quickly disappointed. Not what I would expect from a Marriott.
I chose this hotel to enjoy an afternoon by the pool, before flying back. Turns out, the pool is closed for maintenance works. They told me only after payment (!!). Unacceptable. No one advised me beforehand. Breakfast: for 255 MXP per person you get a very limited buffet, not to Marriott’s standard (last one I visited, 2 weeks ago in Madrid, was way, way better). Also: hot chocolate and cappucinos are considered extras. Service is slow, my chocholate arrived after I finished my meal, left it untouched, was still charged for it (no pool, and not even a small courtesy gesture, fantastic). Room: outdated Noise from the road in the night.
Hotel sits on a small hill that gives you great views. The open air lobby, restaurant and pool make you feel like you are outdoors. Service was excellent with a comfortable bed, and good breakfast buffet. After a day of traveling we were able to relax before or trip to San Cristóbal and Mayan ruins.
Was excited to stay at this hotel when arrived was greeted promptly after that things went down hill check in was very slow when got to room was old and dirty and amenities that were asked for were not in room called and asked for them 2nd time never showed up ALSO had made several attempts to book a spa vist for wife before showing up at hotel and at hotel and was told would getva call back or a text via whatsapp never happened.... Halways carry sound and can hear every door closing and anyone walking down the halways room heat did not seem to work also as cold out when we were saying in this hotel also pool is very cold All in all was a very disappointed is the quality of hotel
I’m a return guest to this hotel and currently staying here for the night, however it might be my last. I checked in 24 hours in advance yet my room was not available when I got here and I was given a subpar room. Room: Sink does not drain and there was hair in it. Definitely disgusting, but more concerning that during a pandemic, they fail to clean properly. I had to sanitize the room myself. There is also mold on the ceiling. Property: Nice areas to hang out. No complaints Parking: Easy and free Getting places: On foot is difficult. Only way in is up a steep hill. So if you have issues walking, go elsewhere or plan on driving.
Check in process took over an hour. They offer an option where they don’t clean your room, it is optional but still. The room was nice. We asked for a pizza and they didn’t let the delivery boy in, even though they called the room and said they would.
My Family and I went on a christmas trip, sightseeing mainly the "Cañon del Sumidero". Thanks to Andrea at Reception she was very helpful getting everything squared off for our stay, overall great experience as we recieved an excellent service on behalf of the staff!!
Changed my travel plans, and instead of staying 3 days in Tuxtla, I only stayed one. The hotel is one of the best of the Marriott brands that I have been in while traveling in the US and Mexico. Unfortunately, the time traveled was marred with news of COVID-19, so hotels were starting to become empty. I will return though as Chiapas has so much to offer.
As a three-star hotel, it is fine. How it is being given a higher rating and the name "Marriott" I don't know. The giant patio, designed to look like a jungle, was a great idea...but today the pool paint is peeling and the whole thing only looks good when lit up by night. Service was poor: their card keys deactivate continuously and they know it, but it hasn't occurred to them to explain to their guests how to deal with this. Ask for ice and you are sent on a wild goose chase only to discover, at the end, that the machine stopped working long ago. Our toilet and sink were both clogged. Had to use ice bucket full of water to get toilet to flush...every day! Windows were filthy dirty...ah, well, I could go on and on...The Marriott folks should be ashamed.
