    Beautiful Hotel
Changed my travel plans, and instead of staying 3 days in Tuxtla, I only stayed one. The hotel is one of the best of the Marriott brands that I have been in while traveling in the US and Mexico. Unfortunately, the time traveled was marred with news of COVID-19, so hotels were starting to become empty. I will return though as Chiapas has so much to offer.

    Great hotel with unique architecture
Hotel sits on a small hill that gives you great views. The open air lobby, restaurant and pool make you feel like you are outdoors. Service was excellent with a comfortable bed, and good breakfast buffet. After a day of traveling we were able to relax before or trip to San Cristóbal and Mayan ruins.

You can usually count on the Marriott to provide a certain level of comfort and this one did. I laugh to myself, though, that they do not provide facial wash cloths in most of their properties and this one was no exception. JWM, I've said for years that you cannot get to a 5 unless you provide this basic of all amenities. Enjoyed our stay.

Im a Bonvoy Member and stayed on Marriotts around the globe, I’m so sad to say that this is the worst in my own country. The hotel, looks very old everywhere. There is zero maintenance, Front desk very cold feeling, normally a nice front desk invite you to stop by.. well not the case here. We had lunch at the restaurant that took 45 minutes to get to the table with an empty restaurant only 2 or 3 tables at the time. No air conditioning it all. They had this big floor fans that helps a bit but come on!!!!, this is a Marriott not a 2 start hotel. We originally book a 3 night stay but we leave one night early and cancel another extra night at the end of our trip. I reserve a 2 double beds City View deluxe room. They give me room 247 with a terrible parking view room. I call front desk and they change us to room 518 on the 5th floor, on that change we lost my daughter’s Oaxaca handcrafted backpack, we were not able to recovered. In the bedroom our bedsheets and bath towels were ripped off. It feels terrible to use them. Worse case at the pool, I took my youngest kid for swimming, there was no pool towels, I ask a gentlemen for some y that took 35 minutes and when they arrived, the towels conditions were worse than a mechanic shop, juts terrible condition. We ask for an extra sheets for the sofa-bed that took 90 minutes to get there. On our second night, there was tremendous party with a high volume somewhere at the main boulevard that ends close to 4 am. You feel the music as it was next door. (I know the hotel can’t control that, but they can invest on some new technology glass with noise reduction ) again, this is a Marriott!! Our room neighbors were drinking and being loud until 5 am. Terrible. We decided to leve in the morning and cancel our next reservation. So disappointed about our experience.

Bad location. Looks it’s on the main street but there is no access to the street. You have to go right around the roundabout. Not walkable. You end up spending lots on the taxis. The hotel is open to the elements as the swimming pool has trees around it and needs to be open. Hence the musty smell through out the hotel even in the rooms and the mosquitoes. Checked out three rooms but all smelled of mustiness, especially in the closets! Can’t open the windows, there is small slits under the windows but not enough to air the rooms. Comfy beds. Helpful ladies cleaning the rooms. Front desk not overly friendly, charged us $800 to check In early. Which they gave back as a voucher to spend in the hotel. Value for money breakfast.

Dear Guest We appreciate you recently stay with us. We want to offer an apologize. We take very seriusly our guest comments, do not doubt that we will follow up on the áreas we failed to improve, so this type of situation doesnt happen again. It is important to mentioned that our hotel is located in a principal avenue, where the hotels, malls and shops are located. The arquitecture from our hotel, it is inspired in diferent places from our beautiful state. Our distintive, is the emblematic pool that represents the Montebello Lagoons, and the trees play the rol from our dear Lacandona Jungle. The mosquitos are regular in this time of the year because this type of weather. Our check in time it is from 15:00 hours. We hope that you give us another chance to be your hosts. Sincerly, General Manager

I am Lifetime Titanium within the Marriott Rewards Program. That means that I have 40 years of experience staying at Marriott Hotels around the world. Never have I encountered a Marriott Hotel that is this pathetic- this badly managed and run. The restaurant’s food was, at best, substandard and, at worst, just plain bad. No flavor in any of the overpriced dishes. One expects to pay more at a Marriott restaurant in the hotel. One also expects to receive a good meal. Yes, the overpriced was there. The good meal was not. Far from it. Then there’s the Club M on the 5th floor. To call it a Club M is nothing short of a bad joke. They post hours for the various “amenities,” breakfast, snacks, etc. Why bother? Nobody is there. Nothing is there. Not even a bottle of water. Too pathetic! Finally, our room. There was nothing actually wrong with the room, save for the Rave Club whose noise made sleep impossible until well after 2:00 am. One might argue that the hotel is not in charge of the club and it’s noise. My counter argument is that they have to be aware of that impossible to deal with noise so when the hotel barely has anybody booked (as it did not when we were there) then, for God sake, fill up the other side of the damn place first so people don’t have to deal with this impossible to sleep through noise. I’d rather be at the end of an airport runway! No thought given to the food. No thought given to the Club M. No thought given to the comfort of the hotel guests; not even elite Marriott members. This hotel is an absolute failure and should be stripped of its franchise designation! Then, there was the room. Room

The hotel has good architecture but is extremely old. The pool is basically below the lobby, very little privacy. We stayed at a junior suite, the light in bath room didn't work.. bed sheets had smell of humidity.. the door of the bathroom would open or close properly, something to do with wood expanding. The furniture at the hotel is definitely out dated. Definitely expecting more at a suite level. Hotel elevator wasn't working so we had to walk with our 4yr and 2yr old.. The M Loung was not in service so the family had snacks at the restaurant. We waited around 15 minutes to get bean and cheese quedadillas! There were only 3 tables full at the restaurant. The folks sitting next to us had gotten minimum 2 or max 4 orders in the mean time. Many things can be tolerated at the hotel but poor service at the "best" hotel in tuxlta, i think not. Next time we will check out the hilton. Wish us luck, weve only been here for 5 hours.

Positives - friendly staff, comfortable bed, and good breakfast. Negatives - hard water deposits on the bathroom fixtures and even loose bathroom fixtures, I could hear every noise from the hallway and adjoining room, slow internet (roughly 10 mbps), and the air conditioner did not work well (April in Tuxtla is hot, I arrived late and the room was at 25C. I set it on 17C, and by morning it was only down to 23.5C). The hotel was okay, but dated. It appeared nice at first, but quickly disappointed. Not what I would expect from a Marriott.

I chose this hotel to enjoy an afternoon by the pool, before flying back. Turns out, the pool is closed for maintenance works. They told me only after payment (!!). Unacceptable. No one advised me beforehand. Breakfast: for 255 MXP per person you get a very limited buffet, not to Marriott’s standard (last one I visited, 2 weeks ago in Madrid, was way, way better). Also: hot chocolate and cappucinos are considered extras. Service is slow, my chocholate arrived after I finished my meal, left it untouched, was still charged for it (no pool, and not even a small courtesy gesture, fantastic). Room: outdated Noise from the road in the night.

I’m a return guest to this hotel and currently staying here for the night, however it might be my last. I checked in 24 hours in advance yet my room was not available when I got here and I was given a subpar room. Room: Sink does not drain and there was hair in it. Definitely disgusting, but more concerning that during a pandemic, they fail to clean properly. I had to sanitize the room myself. There is also mold on the ceiling. Property: Nice areas to hang out. No complaints Parking: Easy and free Getting places: On foot is difficult. Only way in is up a steep hill. So if you have issues walking, go elsewhere or plan on driving.
