I absolutely loved my experience staying in Gilgit Serena Hotel. The hotel is located in Jutial which connects well with the city itself and the road reading to the airport as well as other areas of Gilgit Baltistan. The hotel is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity-though it has a traditional Gilgit outlook but the services are up to the mark and crosses the checklist of the international standards of hotel services.
If you are looking for an aesthetic, culturally laid out hotel that welcomes you with a breath of local architectural styles and colours, then Giligit Serena is the perfect place is stay.

Serena in Gilgit is top notch. Customer service from checkin to checkout and in between has been first class. The bed, linen and amenities in the room could be at par with any good hotel in Europe and USA. Breakfast buffet (complimentary) had lot of choices, you could order freshly eggs made in any style from omelette, fried to scrambled. Different variety of breads including jams and marmalade. The view from the restaurant is out of this world, Rakaposhi peak is clearly visible.m

The Serena Hotel group have a pricing structure with foreigners in USD (converting to Pakistan currency) and for Pakistan nationals the pricing is in local currency.
We stayed in August 2022 but arranged our trip with a tour operator late in December 2021. A booking was made by our tour operator in December 2021, for 2 single rooms for 1 night, at a rate of 85 USD per room per night. Our tour operator advised us of this price which we agreed to and they paid the Serena Hotel a 50% deposit in the equivalent rupees. The USD exchange rate at the time meant our booking was advised as a final cost of 30,600.
On arrival we were advised that we had to pay an additional 12, 200 due to exchange rate changes and pricing increases. I asked if this additional amount could be amended to 10,000 and the receptionist agreed and I handed over 10,000 extra. However when I left reception he did not deduct this discount as agreed, and our guide had to pay it.
So just a warning if you are a non Pakistan national, booking in advance, directly or via a tour operator.
Questions to ask - will the USD room pricing rates be revised in the future and any increase applied to your booking? Will the price paid in Pakistan rupees change on arrival based on a different USD exchange rate which has changed since you made the initial booking?
I certainly will not be staying at the Serena Hotel ever again due to this experience and if you are a foreigner booking with them in advance - watch out. Your price may increase due to a change in the USD exchange rate and may be subject to any increase in their pricing policy Poor .... just poor.

Dear Jackie, Greetings from Serena Hotels in Gilgit - Baltistan. As I have already responded to you, let me clarify it further for your understanding. All tour operators are given rates for the groups they bring. The rates clearly specify foreign and domestic travelers. Your Tour operator booked you as domestic traveler and paid the domestic rates to us. When you checked in we had to apply the foreign rates since we were not told by your tour operator that you were foreigner, hence the extra charges needed to be paid for the same. This has never happened to us before as each tour operator follows the laid down procedures. Please take up your matter with your tour operator, since he was well aware of the rates. I have also clarified the same to him. It is the responsibility of the tour operator to inform the guest of the correct rate and take the correct amount from their guest at the time of reservation. Please understand that no misdeed was done by Serena Hotels. And never before we had to face this kind of situation. We do hope that your stay was comfortable and you enjoyed your visit to Pakistan. I usually stay at Gilgit Serena in summers but I visited Gilgit Serena for the first time in winter this year. Their bathrooms have been renovated (previously they were very cramped). Toiletries were available. Rooms were comfortable with good heating facilities. Breakfast was good and included in room rent. They need to open the parking space in front of the property rather than let guests park in nearby ground. Check out time is 10:30 am which is unacceptable. Most hotels have check out time of 12 pm and May extend it upon request. They need to look into this. Staff is helpful Overall it was a good experience.

We had a pleasant stay, with the exceptional service from Mr Younis the Front Office Manager and all the Front Desk team. All staff was very helpful and accommodating.
The hotel has a big car park and the best part was the view from the restaurant; I highly recommend to have dinner at the restaurant in this hotel with live music and absolutely loved every minute of being there.
Mr Younis really looked after us with great room rate and welcome complementary drinks. Just what we needed after 12 hours flight from UK then further 16 hours drive from Islamabad.
Room was modern, spacious, and very clean.
The housekeeping team were brilliant and everyone working so hard I really hope higher management see this and look after their hardworking staff.

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel and loved every bit of it. The check-in was smooth and they sent us welcome drinks (apricot juice) to our room which was very refreshing.
The room was extremely comfortable and the hotel had a nice garden to have a walk or have tea. We requested for soup in the garden which they served with pleasure.
We also had dinner through room service and it tasted amazing.
Overall, friendly staff and quality service.
Would definitely recommend the hotel.

Gilgit Serena is the only best hotel to stay in, everything is perfect the staff, the management, the interior, rooms, buffet, etc. Also, everyone is so welcoming and very professional. Only the wheelchair ramp is missing but the GM said there will be a lift and ramp by the next year!

We are working on the installation of elevator in the hotel, as was explained during our meeting since the building was made 45 years ago by a private owner hence he did not make any provision for the lift and since the building is made of wood, hence it is a challenge to install the elevator but we are working on it and inshallah it will be installed. We were on a two week trip through the north east and this came as a wonderful surprise.
The bedroom is a large size and the bathroom has some of the best fixtures I've seen in any hotel in Asia; the owners have spent a lot of money on this. The bed is very comfortable.
We ate dinner at their barbecue area and the garden setting is lovely. The selection of food on the buffet is extensive and of a high standard. Breakfast upstairs was good with some wonderful views of the mountains.

Serena Gilgit is comfortable throughout the year including winters. I have stayed at Serena Gilgit almost every month of the year and never had any issues with the services or comfort. The rooms and lobby have reversible air conditioners keeping them adequately heated and cooled during winters and summers.
There are more places to choose from in the Gilgit area.
