We booked this hotel, because it has very good reviews and since we wanted to explore the tempels and the area we thought it was a perfect stay. We even see on the photos of a hotel that there are some pagodas visible from hotel rooms. This is not true! Where should I start ... Before arrival I asked for a taxi at the airport. It didn't happen! We were searching for the taxi at the airport and after a few minutes we figure out that there was no one to pick us up. When we arrived at the hotelwe asked about it and no one knew anything. They just said...oh yea, it happens. So don't order the taxi with a hotel. Just find one outside. We arrived earlier then check in. Just wanted to drop off the bags and go to explore. But they told us that the room will be ready in half an hour, so we decided to wait. Well the same pattern continues...the forgot about us and we were witing there for almost 2 hours. Before we could see the room we had to pay everything. This was strange to us. But o.k.! The room is big with high ciellings, has a little garden, but it is hard to use it because the road is jut there. So it is all dusty outside. Enywhere else you will get a better equiped room. No shapoos, water is basicaly filled in the bottles. Since I have no idea what kind of water they fill it we didn't drink it. And this is very bad, because for us it is important not to get sick. So pleaee just put a normal bottel of water in the room. The door to the garden had a big gap. All the moscitos were comong in all the time. Since it is a Zika area this was not a nice thing. They sprey or smoke the area around the hotel. And since our door had the huge gap, all the smoke came in to room. And since we were sleeping we didn't notice. The room was full of smoke and we got a bit sick. The smell and the filling was horible. The pool was cold. The staff was totaly unhelpfull. They don't speak much English. We wanted to change money, they can't change it. They said I have to walk 20min to their other hotel to change it. The brealfas area and the pool is nice. Specially in the evening with the lampions. So all in all, a beautiful hotel, but poor service. Any other hotel in Burma was much much nicer.

Dear meandubabe Thank you for the recent stay with us and giving time to review with constructive feedback as we always aiming for improvement. I will defiantly discuss this with the entire team. All our suite rooms have pagoda view with nice ambience, some deluxe room can partially pagoda view and our room terrace garden protect dusty road by sprinkler water already as you know Bagan is tropical climate with dry & dusty, we also have room in the middle of compound with nice tall tree. One good idea touring in Bagan in monsoon season ( May to mid if October) with special promotion , every thing go cheap in Myanmar is real bargaining , idea avoiding dusty land. We are sorry you have no shampoo and our housekeeper are ready to offer generously on any room amenity request if the client need for extra. The idea for the refill drinking water glass bottle is purified by reverse osmosis in high quality product of Australia intend to reduce plastic bottle in historic Bagan effective get rid of 50000-60000 plastic bottle annually. We encourage all the tourist and house guest to participate RefillNotland Fall. We have Refill Water Station in our dining room. We are prompt to offer different kind of drinking water if the guest is sick or suspected to drink our refill water. We had done all the room gap and defects yearly maintenance in low season whatever possible. For your information, we support a kind of CSR accepted "Trainee " local young disadvantage trained from Australian NGO and we accepted those internship for practical on job training and they are wearing name tag " Trainee" may speak English a little. We are sorry for misunderstanding , Actully we have money exchange counter at front desk and ATM machine at Hotel can withdraw the cash 24 hours. We had change new pest control company recently for better service. Once again, my sincere apologize that we have not been able to meet your expectations on this occasions. We do look forward to having the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment. Please do visit us in the near future and we will personally take care. Thank you Warm regards, Kyaw Hein & the team

Once I stepped my foot on the hotel ground, bright and warmly welcoming smiles awaiting. The staff know who is coming by which flight (I provided my flight details) and they mentioned in their greeting. I think this is very caring. Once I started talking to the front office, I am sure I am at home in Bagan. Staff are very hospitable wearing genuine smiles. Food is gorgeous and super yummy and most importantly, healthy! I am SO in love with the Hotel @ Tharaba Gate!

This is the best located resort hotel for the famous sunset at the Amanda temple (a must do while here). The reviews said that the hotel is better than the photos and I have to agree. It is charming everywhere and well kept. No signs of mould or shabby bits and the hotel people go the extra mile to please you. Simply a wonderful choice.

I came here for a vacation with my fiancée and her parents. The employees at this hotel redefined what it means to be accommodating. I have a severe nut allergy and the head chef personally came to our table for each meal, took my order, and assured me he would freshly and safely prepare our meal without any traces of nuts. In addition to the excellent service and food we received in the hotel restaurant, the room was incredible, the pool was the perfect way to end a day of exploring Bagan, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was a great blend of class, relaxation, and leisure. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and I would eagerly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in the amazing city of Bagan.

We can't say enough good things about this place. From the rooms, to the breakfasts, to the drinks, to the pool, to the overall ambience--everything was a dream. It was such a nice escape in hot Bagan. The hotel did a great job organizing all tours and transportation we needed. We were sad to leave!
