Hard to fault this small, intimate hotel (about 15 rooms I think) all on the ground floor, set around a pretty pool area and a garden restaurant and sitting area. The staff are faultless, except they will not recommend any restaurant, saying it is such a personal choice! The rooms are large and very comfortable. The bathroom I felt suffered a little from over-design - it looked stunning - but the 'waterfall' shower was not quite so practical as it was beautiful. Just a small niggly complaint I know! I much appreciated the swimming pool to come back to after a hot, dusty day seeing so many stupas and various temples and monastery. We had to leave at 4.30am to catch the boat up to Mandalay and the staff were lovely, even so early, and gave us a packed breakfast to take with usand made sure we got off in time. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return.

Room Tip: I think the rooms are all the same, some round the pool, others at the back.

I stayed at the Blue Bird during a weekend visit to Bagan while on a business trip to Myanmar. Everything about the Blue Bird made the weekend unforgettable. From arrival to departure, the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful with anything I needed. I was really impressed with the quality of service and attention to detail. One of the highlights was the breakfast in the garden seating area. There were great offerings including homemade yogurt, fresh fruit juice, and tasty soups. The rooms were super comfortable and clean, and I loved spending time by the pool. There is also a family that rents scooters out front, so it was really easy to get that set up too. I actually loved that the hotel is reserved for guests only - no outside visitors - it felt like an oasis and you really received personalized service from the staff. They were also accommodating with late check out - even moving me to another room for no extra charge for the afternoon because the room I was in needed to be cleaned for new arrivals. My only complaint would be that it would be great to have spa services offered! The owner said they were working on it, so hopefully they will be available soon.

Large, tastefully furnished rooms with air- conditioning and and a unusual, very original, waterfall shower in the bathroom. Ample buffet-style breakfast provided in an outdoor garden setting The 7 page hand-out they provided at reception was extremely useful with suggested itineraries and a wealth of information about transportation and other essentials. It was also useful because it listed the names of all the most important monuments which was a great help in going through photographs of Bagan afterwards.. The staff were super helpful and delightful in every way, nothing too much trouble for them. Note: it is also a "Green Hotel."

we spent two nights at this very nice hotel. Service-minded and attentive staff. And they let us keep the room until afternoon (time of our flight departure). Interesting room with a lot of space. Expensive, but we got a huge discount due to end of season. Highly recommended.

We stayed 3 days at Hotel Blue Bird. I must say that we had an unforgettable stay there, not only for the place itself, but also (and above all) for the warm welcome of the property and all the staff whom we thank for their help. The hotel is very well placed in New Bagan in a very quiet area but nevertheless close to restaurants. The setting is truly idyllic. The landscaping is done with taste and very wooded. The rooms are arranged around a beautiful swimming pool. Our room was really large and we can emphasize a particular care for the very refined interior decoration, especially for the bathroom. Likewise, good bedding and very good cleanliness and overall maintenance. The catering, breakfasts and dinners, is of very good level too: special attention to local cuisine and "French Touch" (a wink for the tasty morning french pancakes!). Now, as I said, it was the hotel staff and manager who touched us most for the special attention and help they gave us during the stay. Thank you again for this exceptional moment in Bagan in conditions that were not so easy (during the COVID-19 crisis). Thanks from Pascal and Patrick, Paris
