My girlfriend and I and her sister were going a romantic getaway on the firsr week of April. The place was greatful! We stayed at Bagan Hotel River View where is situated nearby Bagan Museum. The local guys were very friendly and they shot some special photos for us. The staff were very helpful. The hotel took both cash and banking. However, they only took by CB bank. The hotel aera was so quite well and peaceful and you can see jaw dropping at the pool side. Please do not hesitate to visit and stay there if you like noisily and crowded. All in all,the value of the hotel was greatful and turned into a once life time unforgettable experiences. Thank you so much!
This is a hotel that has an actual temple in its grounds so that in itself is a great start. Check in was friendly and efficient. The room itself was really nice and cean with a very comfortable bed. Nice large bedroom. Breakfast is served overlooking the river with a great choice of food. Reception will order you an e bike brought to the front door of the hotel and at a good price. There is also a nice swimming pool with ample sun loungers. The only faults are that the rooms can be difficult to find with poor sign posting. The bar is overlooking the river but service can be slow. All in all a great hotel.
The River View is, as might be expected, on the mighty Irrawaddy River. Complete with its own ruined temple, the hotel is a complex comprising blocks housing around twenty rooms. The restaurant offers decent Myanmar food but its big attraction is that it's outside, overlooking the river and facing west so that every evening is a sunset spectacular. Located in Old Bagan, the hotel is within walking distance of the many temples and pagodas in the old town and ideally situated for road travel - by rented e-bike or taxi - to the wider area. Rooms are comfortable but, in our block, the bathroom was in serious need of modernisation. There is a nice swimming pool - but it woukd be even better if the bar was open.
nice pool, gardens, location by the river. rooms are big - breakfast by the river terrace is lovely. I also loved that they have their own 12thC temple within the grounds. Negatives? at least my evening meal was fairly inedible - i gave it to a cat. On the river there are a Lot of boats powered by diesel engines - these are very loud, apart from the pollution. Overall manageable though
The setting for this hotel couldn't be better. Temples in the grounds, wonderful trees and a terrace restaurant looking over the river for breakfast and sunset. However for 62 dollars we got a horrible bathroom, dirty fridge and leakey air con. Room 303 was extraordinarily over priced. Unfortunately we were told that the hotel was fully booked and no way of any movement. Shame but I wouldn't stay again as it was poor.
Great Context with a Buddha temple on the hotel grounds. Beautiful landscape. Great restaurant overlooking the River. We found the rooms very spacious. The staff were gracious and attentive. The only thing we found with the River View, and it is really not any fault of the hotel are the boats with loud Chinese engines going up and down the River. Overall, we were very happy with the Hotel
Of course, the name of the hotel hints at a wonderful view of the river - and this is exactly so - but the main feature is that the hotel has ancient buildings, including pagodas! Wooden houses are very comfortable. The restaurant offers a wide view of the river. The kitchen is very pleasant - adapted to the European taste.
Beautiful hotel with extensive gardens, flowering shrubs, many chirping birds, restaurant facing the Irrawaddy River, beautiful sunsets over Irrawaddy and to top them we were surprised to find a dilapidated pagoda and a 12th century Pagoda with a serene Buddha statue on its premises. We have not seen such relics in a hotel compound. We had a room with views of the river and the room reminiscent o Bagan pagoda architecture. The amenities were above average. The highlight was the courteous staff. I want to specially mention Mr.Kyaw Kyan Htike at the front desk who was extremely helpful to make me make a call to set right a crisis situation.
This is my second visit to this hotel and both times I have left feeling slightly disappointed with the service I received. The setting is lovely and our room was good overall. We were certainly able to relax and enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle of Old Bagan and the many visitors. However, compared with the other hotels we have stayed in during our tour and also a hotel nearby that we visited on Christmas Eve for a festive event, this hotel lacks attention to detail when it comes to looking after the guests. At breakfast there were few staff to be seen and it was hard to find anyone to provide us with pool service for example. Some small changes would make a big difference to the overall experience of staying at this hotel. Improving the wifi would also certainly help.
We arrived in the middle of the night, approx 8 hours before our check in time. The member of staff at the front desk gave us our room earlier with no extra charges. The room and bathroom was spacious and comfortable, may in need of a bit of TLC but has the most beautiful view and the hotel has a very good customer service.
