This is a great resort on the banks of the Aye Yarwaddy with beautiful views across the river, particularly at sunset from the river side garden. Very good, large rooms with balconies. Very comfortable and a good bathroom. The buffet offering for dinner and breakfast was very good and staff very helpful and attentive. Not quite so sure about the puppet show though!
We stayed here for a couple of nights as part of our organised tour of Myanmar - Bagan being our base to explore the wonderful sights to be found in the immediate area. Highs: * Great location to get to impressive temple sites. * Visually attractive, rustic public buildings with loads of open space * Well manicured gardens at front and rear * Brilliant to be able to enjoy a Happy Hour" pre-dinner drink overlooking the vast Irrawaddy. * Massive bedroom - probably the biggest hotel room we have ever stayed in - huge bathroom too ! A real "wow" for us. * Pleasant/ helpful staff on reception desk * Lovely swimming pool area to relax in (water very cold!). Lows: * Communication was a real problem on several occasions - we ordered some food which when it arrived wasn't what we expected; describing and understanding how Happy Hour worked was difficult. * We felt that the young, inexperienced staff were exposed to their clients without much training and felt sorry for them as they were doing their very best but unsurprisingly failing to meet expectations. * Menu choice for vegetarians was poor - it was just too difficult to order some options but without the meat so we had to compromise quite a lot. * Breakfast buffet was expansive but 'hot food' was barely lukewarm (at best) - a word with the receptionist saw an improvement the next day. * The bar area was very scant - shelves behind the bar were empty and some drinks on the menu weren't available. No vibe or atmosphere in the evenings due to low numbers of guests. We actually enjoyed our stay here but it could have been much better if management had helped, supported and invested in their staff through training (customer service and English language) , standard setting (especially in the bar/restaurant). This visually splendid hotel has so much potential it is a real shame that it didn't in our experience mirror that in the service experience - an improvement programme is required. During our stay the occupancy of the hotel was noticeably very low - not sure if that is typical within Myanmar at the moment or a reflection on the hotel?…
Had a horrible stay, the hotel is old and shabby. Mouldy walls, dirty bathroom and scratched floors. The hotel was empty due to covid19 situation, but we got stuck in a room with a view of a brick wall. Have tried talking to the management - very poor English and no will to make our situation better. Avoid it at all costs.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Our room was clean and comfortable, our bathroom was clean but needs upgrading. The breakfast was good with something to suit everyone. Staff were fantastic. Swimming pool was excellent with good sun loungers We had a good view of temples from our room
I would not hesitate to recommend this resort. The service is excellent, the location great and nothing is too much trouble for any member of the staff who strive to serve you to the best of their ability. Of particular note is Mrs Lay Nwe who is the head receptionist. A wonderful lady and a pleasure to meet. Your in excellent hands no matter what your need is !
