This place gave me great energy for the next few weeks. I came there to hike to Ijen volcano. Ben, host of the place, took care of booking place for me on that. He is the kindest host I had in Indonesia, he takes a great care of the place, guests and, he cooks delicious meals☺️ I recommend that place to every backpacker who likes places with a soul this one definitely has one 💚

We had a really enjoyable stay at osingvacation. Ben is a great host who will help you with anything that he can, he was waiting for us at the train station when we arrived at 11.30p.m with a huge smile on his face. His wife Diana is a wonderful cook and the breakfast that she makes was some of the best food we have had in Indonesia, different every day and sooooo delicious! We also did the Ijen crater tour through Beny and while it's possible to do it more cheaply, we felt it was worth the extra as he employs the miners as guides which, although little respite, gives them a day off from the unbelievably hard work for the day that they do the guiding. All in all - very basic rooms, our bed wasn't the comfiest, and very hot, air con definitely needed (which Ben has plans for)

Host: Benny is one of the most helpful hosts I have ever met. He would give you a lot of helpful tips during your stay here. He allowed us to stay for half more day (with extra charge) because we finished our Ijen tour at 7am on the next day. I really like that he's always concerned with our wellbeing during our stay here. Has a pretty good command in English.
Room: The room was clean and tidy but very basic with no hot water, but it's fine with me because it's very hot here in Banyuwangi during my stay. Breakfast was provided.
Highly recommended!

Worst place I've ever stayed!! Don't go there. We didn't get the room we booked had to sleep 5min away from the hostel in a laundry place... on dirty mattresses. Didn't get blankets, there was no wifi, there was a lot of mold on the walls. In the morning he kicked us out because we refused to pay the full amount. He also refused to call us a taxi.

We had just hiked Bromo and were lucky to have booked this place. Finding details about the Kawah Ijen trip was very difficult. Guide or no Guide? Jeep or no Jeep? Gate time? Masks? Since our original plans were changed this trip to Kawah Ijen was figured out on the bus ride to Banyuwangi from Mt. Bromo. When we arrived it was 8:30 pm and Ben was amazing. He answered all of the questions we had. Within 30 minutes he had transportation lined up to pick us up and take us to the base camp at 12:30 am. I would recommend leaving at 11:30 am. You need a mask and you can rent them at the base camp for 50,000 rupiah. Entrance fee to the volcano is 100,000 rupiah. The transportation was 500,000 rupiah we had 7 people so we took a minivan. You can rent scooters for 100,000 rupiah. Riding back in a car was best since we were so tired. The road is in very good shape. There were mini buses at the base camp parking lot. In our transportation price we negotiated to stay longer than the usual 8:30 departure. It is best to stay in the crater for sunrise. The flames turn orange and the lake is beautiful. Most people are gone after the sun comes up and it makes the hike out nice and enjoyable. The hike ate night is jam packed and the trail into the crater is single file in most spots and patience is needed. I scrambled when I could passing the slow people to get down quicker. When you get to the bottom go to the left around the blue flames. There is kind of a trail that takes you up behind the flames. This was the best spot for my photos and videos. Use your headlamp to shine on your face for the best pics. You can buy sulfur carvings and crystals form the sulfur miners. I paid the 50,000 rupiah he asked for one crystal. I did not bargain. These men have the most strenuous job in the world and negotiating over a few dollars just didn't feel right. Bring a Tupperware container to put the excellent sulfur crystals into. The blades are very fragile. When we got back breakfast was ready for us and the shower has plenty of power to get rid of the sulfur smell. If you want a great host that can handle anything you need this is the place to stay. You can call early and Ben will have everything ready to go for you. Kawah Ijen is a must do. I spent 5 weeks traveling all over Java. Did Krakatoa, Mt. Bromo, and Kawah Ijen was the best volcano.

Ben was an excellent host and he really helped me and my friend to make a plan what to do on Java. He is so friendly and always tries to help others. Ben uses his connections to make your stay on Java even better, the Ijen tour is affordable for everyone which helped us because we are poor backpackers! He really became a friend of us. I highly recommend to stay here!

Ben is a wonderful host. He showed me the area on his motorbike, took me to the nice restaurant for lunch, invited to his nearby village where I saw how local people live and how real Indonesia is. I saw a waterfall too and ate dinner in a local restaurant having delicious food. His house is very welcoming, the rooms and bathroom are basic but very clean. His friend took me on motorbike to the Ijen night trek. I had a perfect guide and saw an amazing nature wonder of blue fire at the volcano crater. Something unforgettable. After the trek I was taken back to the house where the fresh Indonesian breakfast waited for me. Thank you Ben, if I am on Java island again, I will for sure come back!!

If you are looking for real indonesian homestay - go to Osingvacation. It's a place in the middle of local district with no hotels and no homestays. Beno, the owner is a very friendly guy who speaks vvegy good english so you will have a chance to talk with him a lot about Indonesia, your country (he is very curious about world) and about almost everything else.
His wife serve a good indonesian breakfast and she is always smiled (Beno as well). Very positive atmosphere.
As I said, it's a real local homestay, so do not expect super comfy rooms and bathroom, everything here is basic, in indonesian standard but the experience which you can gain here is much more worth than to pay to any guide who will try to tell you a bit about Indonesia. Here you can feel it and you have Beno who will be extremely happy to tell you few stories.
There is a free wifi, doesn't work well, but it's enough just to check few things online.
