Bangsring Breeze is grandly built in a garden setting that attracts many beautiful butterflies. It is situated on a hillside that, as the name suggests, catches pleasant cooling breezes. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay for 3 days. Our bungalow’s bedroom and bathroom were very spacious, and the restaurant provided tasty home-style meals.

Our stay was greatly enhanced by the wonderful manager Pramaisella and her friendly staff. She went out of her way to be as helpful as possible. She carefully made sure our dietary requirements were catered for, and with our changing itinerary, was very flexible organising and rearranging both transfers and guided tours to the local attractions of Mt Ijen and Baluran National Park.

My friends and I had a wonderful, relaxing 7 nites' stay at Bangsring Breeze ("BB"). We felt it was like a home away from home - a great place to chill and unwind. The staff were warm, attentive and always polite. The big and comfortable rooms and public areas have been repainted and facilities are well maintained. Wifi is strong throughout the resort.

Compliments to Ibu Pramai, Pak Bundan and the service staff for pampering us with delicious food and great service. We will definitely be back.

Great hotel tucked away just outside of banyuwangi and ferry port for bali.
Lovely pool area, very relaxing. Large clean rooms. We stayed in room 4. Personally I think this was the best room as it has the best view and a terrace area that feels private from the rest of the hotel.
Would be nice to have some background music on in the restaurant area.
Shops for snacks/drinks 8-10 minute walk away.
We found a great restaurant a gentle 30/35 minute walk away on the beach called 'kampung lobster' which served great food and very friendly.

It has been a nice hotel once. We were expecting a wonderful experience, but we’re disappointed. If you look at the Website this is a great place.
In reality this place needs a lot of work. We were the only guests. It would be better to close it in the low season and do the needed renovations.
The room with Sea View does not have sea view. The plants in the hotel have grown a lot and need to be trimmed in order to allow a view beyond the plants. When it rained, it was not possible to leave the room without touching wet plants.
The rooms are nicely decorated. The bathroom is also nice, but the shower area was not clean. We missed the loving eye. In the Website you see flowers in the room and in the bathroom, we did not have any.
The pool was dirty and completely green. They explained to clean it, fished some leaves out of it und put a lot of chlorine in. Still we could not use it, still too dirty. They tried to clean the whole place from leaves. Still it did not look proper.
The staff, in the Website with Bali costumes, was wearing just Bangsring Polo Shirts.
The food was good. Only the orange juice had more water than fruits.
Despite we were not able to use the pool, they did not offer any compensation, a drink or some discount.
In summary, it could be a nice hotel, for us it wasn’t and too expensive for what we got.

I was in Banyuwangi for one night on business and could not find a hotel north of 2 stars. Many searches returned Bali properties but I couldn't swim across with my laptop. Fortunately I found Bangsring Breeze! The property is magnificent. The landscaping is meticulously designed and maintained. Extremely lush, colorful and appeasing. The bungalow I stayed in was absolutely beautiful. The bed and pillows I should add, were heavenly. 270 degrees of windows, beautiful front porch and chandeliers and a fantastic view of the water and Bali Island, marred only by some distant utility lines which could be easily ignored. The side and behind the property are beautiful hills and jungle. The furniture and fixtures were absolutely lovely. The huge bonus was the spacious back garden bathroom and rain shower. Precisely the type we'd love to have in our home. I was not able to participate in any leisure or sports activities but noticed a vast array of sporting equipment I assume is available for guests. Mountain bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, SUP boards to name what I recall. The dining area has beautiful long ranch style dining table and nice pool table. Unfortunately the restaurant had not yet been completed when I stayed January 22 so I can't comment on the food, but it was nearing completion and I'm hopeful it will be managed by a good chef. This is definitely a place I would love to spend some leisure time with my wife. Very peaceful, (barring calls to prayer which resonate through the hillsides) romantic, immaculately clean and lovely. Wonderful for honeymooners. The staff of course were absolutely wonderful. Very kind, and accomodating. I wish the owners all the success possible. They have earned it!

Having planned a holiday in Banyuwangi, we then needed to find some quality accommodation. There are several mid to lower cost options that would work well, but wanting a quality stay, Bangsring Breeze Resort a boutique family run resort fitted the bill exactly.

The five rooms are spacious and maintained to the highest level of cleanliness.

Owner, Jannah, her partner Jeroen, Public relation officer Nina, manager Aji and all the staff made us feel very welcome. The menu was decidedly authentic Indonesian focused which worked very well for us.

Banyuwangi being a strict Muslim provincial centre enjoying a cold Bintang wasn't on the agenda outside of the major hotels, but the staff at Bangsring Breeze kept us well stocked.

We stayed three nights and haven't enjoyed a stay in Indonesia to the same degree. We met several guests that were enjoying stays from overnight to a 10 day windsurfing or kite sailing holiday.

Banyuwangi has a lot to offer, but many of the festivals/highlights occur only once a year, so a visitor needs to factor this is. Trips to the volcano are one of the many ongoing attractions as is access to some incredible beaches for snorkelling, windsurfing and kite sailing.

By far the most expensive hotel option in town, but well worth it and still more than half what you will pay in nearby Bali. The resort plans to build some additional rooms, but maintain the boutique focused atmosphere current enjoyed.

Aji and the team assisted in ensuring some donated football shirts, shorts and balls were well received by the local school.

Highly recommended

My stay at Bangsring Breeze was the definition of paradise. The grounds were beautifully designed; the view of Bali from the balcony was spectacular; the rooms spacious and elegant and incredibly comfortable; the staff very friendly and extremely helpful (even for a 1am wake up to climb the volcano!); and the food delicious. While this hotel was extremely comfortable, it was also incredibly close to all things adventurous: mountain biking, kiteboarding, hiking, snorkeking/diving, surfing, coffee plantation exploration. Will return again; a 3 day stay was not nearly enough to enjoy such a beautiful place! A special thank you to the Bangsring staff: you were the breath of fresh air this traveler needed after being on the road for 3 weeks!

We arrived at Bangsring Breeze after a long, tiring drive from Mount Bromo, and immediately were delighted by how amazing this place is.

The original plan was to simply use Bangsring for a good night's rest (which would be a short one anyway since we were going to try to catch the blue fire at Ijen). If we had known earlier how enjoyable our stay in this incredible would have been, we would have booked a few more nights here!!!

LOCATION
We had our own driver to take us to the resort from the Mount Bromo area (specifically Madakaripura waterfall). It's a crazy long, tiring drive from Mount Bromo... almost 7 hours. The road leading in to the resort isn't sign-posted, so our driver ended up calling the reception to ask which entrance to use, even though he was already using GPS. Thereafter we left to Surabaya by car, which took around almost 7 hours as well. Flying from Bayunwangi to Surabaya or heading to Bali instead would be a much saner idea...

AESTHETICS & COMFORT
Bangsring Breeze only has 5 rooms, giving it a very intimate setting. We were the only guests there during our one-night stay. Naturally, I chose to have a garden bungalow under Jeroen's recommendation. :)

The bathroom has a huge full-length mirror by the door, and one more mirror above the sink which is directly opposite the outdoor shower. Despite being completely surrounded by nature, however, I was not once bitten by a mosquito here! The outdoor shower area does get a fair amount of strong winds, however. They informed us about this beforehand... so we simply turned up the hot water while showering.

The bed was nice and soft, so much that we were full of regret when we had to wake up at 1AM for Ijen... hahaha! Notably, the bedroom always has a particular nice scent to it. Very delightful to the senses.

All of their rooms have ridiculously beautiful views. True to what they informed us before we arrived, you can actually see FROM YOUR ROOM the island of Bali and the Bali Strait which separates Bali from Java. Kawah Ijen can also be seen behind the resort from the dining house.

SERVICE
The real winner of our stay was the fantastic attentiveness of their service. Absolutely top-notch. The staff were all so friendly and we felt like we were literally being waited on hand and foot!!! Taking towels to us once they saw us heading into the pool, switching on the jacuzzi jets of the pool for us even when I was just taking pictures, offering to pack us some food to bring up to Ijen... you simply just don't get this kind of attention even in 5 star hotels (because they just have too many other guests)!

FOOD
We ordered Indonesian fare for dinner. I could request for my food to be non-spicy without any problems. Their juices were awesome, made from fruits fresh off the grinder. They served complimentary light appetizers to our mains (we were given delicious chips for dinner and croissants for breakfast). The mains also boasted large portions, such that we were usually fed to the point of bursting. Of special mention: there was an amazing lime marmalade jam which was given to us at breakfast. It was so delicious that of course we brought the rest of the jar home with us.

FINAL THOUGHTS
We are DEFINITELY coming back here. One night's stay was not enough to satisfy us, especially since we arrived so late from Bromo and had to leave so early to go to Surabaya after doing Ijen (absolutely crazy schedule).

Next time, we're going to spend a few leisurely days here just enjoying ourselves in the resort... I am very keen to go back to Ijen at sunset, visit Sukamade beach, and do snorkelling at Menjangan Island! Till then, please stay as wonderful as you are, Bangsring Breeze!

Response from Jeroen V, Owner at Bangsring Breeze
Responded Mar 26, 2016
With one word… WOW. Thank you so much for this wonderful review. That means the world to our whole team. There is not much I can else comment on. We have recently updated and improved our menu. Given the fact that most of our guests are from outside of Indonesia and most of our guest reach Bangsring Breeze by overland tours or from Bali, we feel we should emphasis local cuisine instead of Chinese and Western foods like most hotels in Banyuwangi service. Of course we have some western classics and comfort foods listed in our menu, but we mostly service Indonesian dishes, and in particular East Javanese dishes. Wawan our chef has done a fabulous job creating our new menu. You come to experience Indonesia, the foods you eat are a big part of this experience! Most of our produce is locally sourced, fresh from the fields or the markets. The ingredients we cannot source locally we ship over from Bali. For example, where else in Banyuwangi will you find fresh croissant and danish pastries with delicious strawberry jam.. For the people who love their bacon in the morning… we do have actual proper bacon, not that alternative beef bacon you normally get in the hotels in Java. Our garden is very lush and we grow plenty of fruits. So when you order your juices, the chances are high its coming straight from our garden. We are looking forward to have you stay with us on a next time. We will make sure we stay as wonderful as we are. Awesome compliments! Thank you!

Banyuwangi is quickly becoming one of the upcoming alternative destinations to visit in Indonesia. It has so much on offer, diving and snorkeling at the beautiful Menjangan Island, hiking the Kawah Ijen, visiting one of 5 national parks, checking one of many coffee plantations, surfing at one of the best surfing spots in the world at GLand and lots of culture and traditions that has influenced Bali. Love to host you when in Banyuwang!

Hi there, best is to fly to Blimbingsari airport in Banyuwangi from Surabaya. You will find daily flights from there going to Banyuwangi. If you book with Bangsring Breeze, they will provide free transfers back and forth from the hotel to the airport. They can also arrange private drivers from Surabaya to Bangsring Breeze. Please contact them for more information. Greetings!
