We definitely will return to this property. Pretty old, almost 20 years old property but well maintained. Beautiful lush garden. Stunning view from our suite room. We were blessed to receive an upgrade from the management, Elena. However, there are some fine tuning can be improved Staffs generally are fantastic. But the servers at the restaurant could do more fine tuning. A few guests including ourselves needed to almost entering the service area to call out for attention and help. Whilst busy during breakfast, no one was seen on the floor to tend to guests or walk in guests. General hygiene must be given attention as we wanted to heat up our bread, one of the servers touched the bread with her barehands. Unsure if we were served the same bread or not though Upkeeping the cleanliness can also be improved, there were just too many spider webs at the ceilings and corners. Only take a few minutes to clean the webs Some painting work for the wall can also be done to further improve the hotel, such as the spa rooms Beautiful pieces of old antique furnitures Breakfast can also use some changes and varieties for longer staying guests Coffee needs to be changed. Banyuwangi is known for its coffee, should improve on coffee served Should include staples Indonesian snacks such as fried tofu, tempeh and bananas. Recommended dishes: Bakmi kuah Heavenly chicken Fish finger The 2 desserts dishes were alright, though the puff could be better …
Beautiful setting, surrounded by rice fields with amazing views of volcanoes. It’s very tranquil. We had a lovely room. The hotel gardens and pool are lovely. The dining area is attractive but the food choice was limited.
This hotel is located in the middle of paddy field with access only by car. The view is beautiful and so nature. Room is mostly with no air conditioned but they have balcony. The problem if we open the balcony window, there is lots bugs. Breakfast is quite good with focus on traditional Javanese food. Access to ijen crater is around 30-40 minutes by car.
As part of our honeymoon we visited this hotel. The road to the hotel itself already was super. Seemed like to be in the middle of the jungle. Had to go there with 4x4 jeeps, landrovers. Really cool. The hotel itself was a nice experience. Wildlife, nature, wonderful views, rice fields... We enjoyed staying here 2 nights, super experience. Visited in 2010
This place is totally a hidden paradise. Location wise, this place is out of nowhere that took us at least 1 hour from Banyuwangi city center. It is very secluded that you will pass local residences, people will be staring at you and you’ll think that you’re lost. The view is totally a gem as it is situated next to the rice field and pine forest with a background of Ijen Mountain and Raung Mountain. Absolutely stunning. They have a trekking area that include the rice field, forest and local residentials. Their recommendation was to do a trekking in the morning/afternoon. We took an afternoon trekking and it was really nice and enjoyable. I recommend to check in before the dark, so you won’t be lost, and able to have an afternoon trail to the forest next door. The hotel ground and rooms look quite old and appear to have a minimum maintenance. But I didn’t think it was an issue for us, the place still clean and nice. Thing that annoys me was the bathroom and toilet as it doesn’t have a door and situated right next to the room’s entrance. So, you don’t want to have anyone coming while you’re doing your business in the toilet since people can see you right away. Our suggestion for management is to install something in these areas. I understood the concept, but to be honest it is not practical and convenient since not all your guest is a couple/family Due to its location, we have no choice but to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. We were surprise that the food was great with affordable price. The staffs were very nice and helpful. Same thing with the breakfast, other than their stale bread-in-basket, we love their breakfast as well. No complaints with the food Things went bad during check-out where we were told by the reception that they will charge us with a purchase of prepaid-phone credit reload amounting to IDR 200K. Since we didn’t request anything as they told us, we refused to pay the fee and asked for the details of requestor number and name. All of sudden the Mr. Iswadi (General Manager) came out and requested us to pay since they already helped us to with the purchase. He claimed that Rana (a night shift receptionist) received a request from our room to make the purchase the night before. Again, they cannot provide us the number and name of the requestor According to Mr. Iswadi there was a call from outside number (didn’t come from our room since the phone in our room was broken) to the front office claiming he was a guest at room 107 (our room) asking Rana to purchase a prepaid-phone credit reload. The caller was then asked Rana’s personal phone number so they can chat via WhatsApp to discuss this further. Rana was then requested for approval from Mr. Iswadi to purchase the credit via ATM outside the hotel. However, since it was already midnight the approval was issued in the morning where other personnel finally purchased the credit to the specified number instructed by the mysterious caller I was bothered by the fact that the hotel decided to purchase the credit without our approval and confirmation. Especially considering that this fraud scheme is very popular in Indonesia where unknown person text/call you, claiming to be someone you know and request to purchase a prepaid-phone credit to another number. Management/front office personnel should be more proactive in obtaining confirmation and approval from the guest for any irregular request like this. Weirdly, they didn’t even asked for the caller’s name. I was also bothered by the fact that the caller was able to mentioned our room number. It means that the caller was aware that there was a guest staying at room 107, which I don’t think any random people outside the hotel personnel would be able to gain this information. We spent more than 1 hour resolving this issue with Mr. Iswadi where finally he stated that they will not charge us for this and admitted that it was their internal mistake. We waited for more than 1 hour for them to call Rana that weirdly she didn’t pick up all the calls from the hotel (she left the hotel in the morning), just to get information on the caller and his number. Which at the end they still cannot provide us The check-out incident was ruining our staying experience with the hotel. We got upset for the rest of the day. To Mr. Iswadi, surely you have a homework to do here. Your internal control was really bad and needs to be improved. As for Rana, please be more cautious with any such request and be more skeptical. At the minimum, please pick up your phone when someone is calling you from the office.…
