I stayed in the He House Boutique hotel for 5 nights earlier this month. It's truly a lovely hotel: spacious, well appointed rooms with great amenities and nice extra touches such as free water in the rooms and free soft drinks in the mini-bar. There was a good choice at breakfast of both Chinese and international dishes. All of the staff from the welcoming staff on the doors on the ground floor, the staff at reception, those in the restaurant and the cleaners were friendly and always smiling and willing to help. However, the level of English was extremely poor for an international hotel: only two of the reception staff spoke very basic English. This was quite a challenge when trying to order food, arrange trips, asking for a map of the city etc. If it wasn't for this issue: I would have given a five-star review.

We stayed at the Guiyang He House Boutique Hotel for 1 night in January 2016 in a superior double room, as a stop over to the Guiyang airport. Tip - during the morning traffic the hotel is about an hour taxi ride to the airport and it will run you around 50 RMB. We did not experience all the hotel has to offer outside of the room and the lobby/restaurant service. The lobby/restaurant is on the top floor. They provide tea and water when you check-in and have English speaking staff. The service can be a bit over the top; room service came twice (not requested) to deliver newspapers/milk and fruit/snacks; the restaurant staff seasoned my wife’s soup and when checking in tried to physically lead her by the arm to the sofa – all with the best intentions. The restaurant only had a basic dinner menu, so they recommended a local restaurant and arranged for a cab. In the morning the breakfast noodles were delicious and so was the coffee, but I would avoid the cold Western style breakfast. The Room – Pro’s: The room has enough space in it to fit two yoga mats side by side for your morning routine and separate toilet/shower spaces. The toiletries are above standard and they have plenty of towels. There is also a pillow menu. The bed is comfy and the heating works superbly. Oh, the minibar is complementary: soda, water, and beer. The Room – Con’s: It smelled like cigarette smoke. Overall, the hotel may not be worth the price you pay for the boutique label; however, if you like special treatment and amenities then this could be the place for you.

My first time came to Guiyang and the cooperates reserved this hotel for us. Although its lobby is luxurious but the room is quite simple, which is not worthy for its price. My manager from France offered more butter alone at breakfast time in its restaurant even no waiter can speak English with her. In the sleeping time, we just heard too much noise along the floor for some unkown reason. It's a bad experience stayed here and Manager suggests we should avoid choosing this hotel for the visit in the future.

The last night we stayed here on Guiyang journey. This hotel has good location, convinence for tansportation, nice decocation and fresh air. Unfortunately, the room is too small to be filled our family, 2 aults and our 3 years old son. We turned our help to reception and housekeeping agents, there nearly tried to no reply!!! To be frank, we payed for price of no low, but got the worst experience and service during our happy Guiyang journey. I would never rate it as a boutique hotel!!

As the name alludes, this hotel does its best to simulate an art gallery. Not only the foyer but the tastefully artistic theme permeates the place however it can’t quite conceal that this is a graceless older building that has been recently and substantially renovated. Our deluxe double room was very spacious, comfortable and suitably arty. Indeed it would have been a suite in most hotels. The open plan bathroom was also modern and spacious and everything worked as expected. The complimentary well-stocked mini-bar was appreciated, and used. Despite the promise on the TV screen, there is no English language TV function. If you can read Chinese and trawl through the options there are one or two English channels but no news that we could find. The WiFi was apparently upgraded on the day before our check-in so its performance was erratic for a while but once going it worked very well. The age of the building means that even the retro-fitted double glazing struggles to mask the outside traffic noise so higher floors are better. The front desk staff are competent, courteous and extremely helpful and there is reasonable English competence. The same applies to service staff although don’t expect any English beyond ‘hello’ – just nodding and smiling. The breakfast buffet is good without being great and there are a couple of cooked-to-order options as well. Again, the restaurant staff are polite and obliging but there is little English and their proficiency can be defective – they are more than willing but a little short on knowledge. If your interests lay around the town then the hotel is a little out of the mainstream which means that the dining options within walking distance are limited. For us, most of the interesting things to see and do around Guiyang are out of town so the location was OK. Taxis can be difficult to flag down in this city but the staff will willingly help out when needed. This is a good hotel which made for a comfortable week in Guiyang and we would stay again.
