The grounds are highly manicured reminding you of an English country garden with many flowering plants. Each villa is very large and includes a sitting area and a large covered porch with beautiful views of the plantation. Unfortunately, our villa smelled of mold. I opened all the windows, but we just could not eliminate the smell of mildew. The villa needed a good scrub down, with special attention to all the corners of the room. The furnishings, especially the occasional chairs looked in good condition, but needed to be professionally cleaned. The location was convenient to the crater. Overall, I would not recommend this property.

August 2021 - two night stay while on safari adventure. Wish we had more time to enjoy this property as it was very nice. We arrived very late after flight delays and long drive from Arusha - staff still offered us an excellent dinner experience and the awesome barman Amon provided beverages in the lounge seating area. Early start next morning after breakfast (ample offerings and quality) due to late night we just had coffee and yogurt. Location is perfect as it's only 10 minutes from the Ngorongoro Park Gate, our guide was able to register our entrance then return to collect us for a long day game drive in the very interesting crater ecosystem. Our return to the lodge was near dark so we had time to enjoy cocktails by the fireplace and then eat dinner before a nightcap and another early wakeup the following morning. Just not enough time to properly enjoy the property and amenities. Food service was excellent, all staff friendly, helpful, and pleasant, Covid protocols in place, sadly most tourist guests ignoring them. The room was fantastic - huge living room and bedroom, sitting deck, comp stocked mini-fridge, nicely stocked bathroom amenities, quality linens. Turndown at dinner had us return to a small fire in the bedroom fireplace and heater circulating in the bedroom, chocolates on the nightstand and hot water bottles in the bed. As travelers from a hot climate we appreciated the 'warmth' as the nights were very chilly for us at this elevation of +1800 meters. Not really anything to fault at this property - our expectations were exceeded! Next time maybe another night to enjoy the great service and lodge amenities.

The lodge offers spacious cottages with 2 very big rooms - a living room and a bedroom. The cottages are furnished in very good taste and they are very comfortable. Both rooms have a fireplace. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning! The staff was very friendly and made us feel most welcome from the first minute. The check-in was made very smoothly, while we were sitting in comfortable armchairs. The swimming pool is small but beautiful. The food and the drinks are included in the price and everything we've tasted was delicious. The service was absolutely perfect. The wine selection could improve though - the quality of food and the class of this lodge as a whole deserve proper wine list rather than just some limited choise of local wines. The lodge has a very pleasant atmosphere, the lounge is a great place to have drinks. The entrance to Ngorongoro conservation area is very close to the lodge. Highly recommended!

Each room is in fact a house. A huge living area opens onto a large deck with spectacular views over the valley. The bedroom was the largest we encountered in East Africa. The fireplaces, lit by staff both nights, were wonderful as it was a bit chilly during our stay. While we could not make use of the pool due to the cold, it had a great setting and views in every direction. But above all else, THE SERVICE WAS OVER THE TOP! No request was too large or too small. I do not believe we have ever experienced the level of service anywhere that we received at Neptune. And it was universal. Whether front desk, bar, rooms, dining room, etc. it was always attentive. It was the kind of place that none of us wanted to leave.
