We have been really well received by all the team of the Hibiscus. The place is very sure and clean. Moses give us some of great advise for Kilimanjaro and Safari in Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro. We recommend and will come back with pleasure ! Thanks for all Valentin & Céline
Stayed at this little piece of quiet- and chillness before and after climbing the roof of Africa. Moses, the forever smiling manager, is the warmest and most helpful soul you will find in moshi and he really made my stay here something special. Rooms: good, breakfast: good, price: good. Just go! :-)
The Hibiscus is a lovely little place. It is in a fantastic location within walking distance from the centre, and the street it is on is lovely and quiet. The outside seating area where you relax and have breakfast is really nicely done. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size and clean. The major issue is the bathrooms - they are all badly in need of renovation/upgrading. The sink was old and stained and the toilet seat was coming off and old. It is not cleanliness that is the issue, as it was all clean - it’s that the facilities seemed old and worn. Worst of all was the electric shower - it was sometimes hot, sometimes cold, but always very weak with patchy spray. I stayed in different rooms on two occasions (limited other options the second time) and both were the same, so I’m pretty sure our room wasn’t a one off. If you’re not bothered about a good shower, then this place would be fine - but we’d just run the Kili marathon! For $45 a night I would expect more. Also, the owner / whoever is responsible for the emails is very unresponsive: it took a few chasing emails on both occasions to get a reply. I do hope the owner will read this review and think about upgrading the bathrooms: as I said, everything else is great and this place would be fantastic otherwise.…
We spent two nights at the Hibiscus B&B. The place is nice, and the breakfast is very good. The owner is very kind and helped us for everything from organizing a coffee tour (which made us save lots of money) to deliver dinner and get around Moshi. The bathroom is quite basics (there was no shower curtain in our room) and in some beds, the bed sheets were not clean (we slept in the sleeping bags). Nevertheless, for the price we payed is a good place and the kindness of the owner and staff is absolutely priceless! You can really trust them for everything!
We stayed at the Hibiscus for 2 nights prior to our Kilimanjaro climb and really enjoyed our stay. The service was outstanding, the beds comfortable, the food delicious, and the wifi was functional. I gave 4/5 stars only because there was a messy plumbing incident. That said, I would definitely stay again in the future and we all found the host, Moses, to be extremely friendly and helpful. He also helped us secure taxi around town and to the Kili gate, and even helped us exchange currency. Highly recommend the Hibiscus!
