We had five days here is a Bush villa and can honestly say it’s one of the best stays we’ve ever had. The villa is on a watering hole and we saw so many animals everyday from our deck. The villa itself was gorgeous and very reasonable for six people. There are several restaurants to choose from and the food was excellent. You can even pay for a lift to and from the restaurant through the game reserve, giving you a mini game drive in the process! The reserve is huge and has four of the big five, not more then five minutes goes by before you spot another animal! All the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, especially our guide Anthony. Highly recommend the horseback safari. Allows you to get up close to the animals, even rhinos! The spa is also fantastic and very competitively priced. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a taste of the true Africa.…
Our second visit to this amazing place, just down the road. We're based in Plett when in the country and were looking for a special place to celebrate my husband's 60th in November. We booked one of the relatively recently completed Deluxe Tents and it was stunning - fireplace, outdoor/indoor shower, soaker tub, large comfortable bed with lovely crisp linens and sliding glass doors that open up on a private viewing deck. Unfortunately our November trip was the day after heavy, heavy rains and access to most of the animals was limited due to washed out roads. Regardless, a wonderful experience. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. We enjoyed it so much that we booked another two days for my birthday in April. We had a deluxe tent again with a stunning view over the meandering stream. Sitting on our private deck we saw elephants, rhinos, boks and zebra's. We did an early game drive and saw lions, buffalos and giraffes as well. Our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals and Botlierskop in general. It was interesting to hear how many staff had been with the property for quite a number of years! The breakfast was plentiful and varied and the dinner menu also expansive for a property that size. As a vegetarian, I had no issues whatsoever - plenty to choose from. My husband's beef was not as tender as he's had but we're guessing it was just an off night. Thanks again to the entire Botlierskop team for making our experiences so amazing! Look forward to seeing you again…
Excellent service, great waiters Very friendly and try to make it so special Food good Ambience very nice Very luxurious accommodation If you want to do game viewing, not the best Rhink ot os a little big expensive for what you get But I will go back for the lodge and dining
The stay here was amazing. We had to delay due to Covid for 2 years and Botlierskop allowed us a credit, which was so nice of them. The whole place is just so well run and set up. The lodge is stunning and the tented lodges, luxurious. The food and choice is top notch. The game drives are exactly what I was expecting and our guide Silas, was educational and entertaining. We saw all of BIG 5 plus lot of other animals. The overall experience is not cheap but then again, how often are you (if not from Africa) going to be able to have a big game/safari experience? So, from that point of view, it is great value.
I had the 3 hours game drive around the farm and it was simply amazing. Simba, our guide, was the best: so informative and friendly. He literally showed us all the animals and told us everything he knows about them. We could get very close to the animals, to take some nice pictures, but most of all to admire and contemplate these stunning creatures without disturbing their daily routine into the wild. The reserve is also so big and lush. Highly recommended
I treated my mother visiting from New York to a morning at the Fijnebos Spa. She had a lovely Spa experience. Our thanks to spa therapist Angelique! Excellent treatment! Will be visiting the Spa agin soon!
We stayed at Botlierskop for 2 evenings. Ou package included 2 spa treatments, breakfast and dinner. Although it is pricey for South African citizens, it was money well spend. However, there was an initial problem with the room type we booked as we were checked into a luxury tent. After we questioned it we got another room in the manor house. The staff is welk trained and extremely friendly.
Value for money outstanding. Certainly worth a stop when driving e.g. the garden route. Executive suite top notch and reasonably priced. Game drives: you'll see many animals. Experienced game drivers. Food is great. Outlook from the restaurant/terrace is nice.
I decided to treat my Wife to a romantic weekend at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve. On the morning of checkout we requested a porter to assist with our luggage, it is a very steep incline to reception. This is how it ended after the cart lost power and brakes. Wife suffered 3 fractured ribs and me a severely swollen ankle. No medical assistance was offered, I had to ask the reception for antiseptic to clean my wounds, it seemed senior management where more worried about the cart. They made sure to present me our R1000 drinks bill on checkout very swiftly, never mind the R10K spent on the weekend. If you stay here, please be extremely careful as if you get injured it's basically your fault, your problem and thanks for your money.
We stayed in The Village at Botlierskop. The room was beautiful with a lovely view of the surrounding greenery. Lovely bathroom. The game drive with Richard was wonderful; saw lots of animals and Richard was very friendly and interesting. Oudie our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Few observations: - The welcome needs work. Very little information given about the activities or facilities offered. You get a welcome drink but it's all a bit sloppy and awkward. - Lots of health questions asked that seemed unnecessary (not directly Covid related) especially after filling in the online form. - The rooms are closer to each other than expected - you can hear noise from other rooms very easily - We did not go with children but it is advertised as a family friendly lodge. I'm not really sure what makes that part especially family friendly. There appears to be very little for children to do, only really saw a jungle gym. There is a pool but it is located right next to the restaurant and is very small. There is a nice view of the rubbish skip. It was hot but we did not see a single person swim in the two days we were there. - You can only eat at the restaurant. There are no smaller, cheaper meals such as toasted sandwiches should you just want a bite and no snack type food. The food was very average. The drinks are decently priced. - Basically every single thing you can do there is an extra cost - that is often the nature of Game Reserves but it just did not feel like the quality matched the cost. - When you see the other part of Botlierskop during the game drive, The Village feels like a much cheaper, watered-down version. Overall, it was nice but only that. Staff were friendly but there is very little finesse in the way things were done. People were often looking for staff or info. The service and offerings need a lot of work. A lot of small changes would go a long way.…
