Purportedly a four star guest house, it had no SA Tourism rating and instead advertised with great fanfare (next to the front door) ratings from unknown (seemingly foreign) agencies - from the late nineties! The foyer was dominated by a desk, printer and workstation, overpowering the classic furniture. The outside area was leaf strewn (even on garden furniture next to... More

Second time we stayed with Gordon and Rose, this time we took a group with us and we all loved our afternoons in your garden, the tranquility and peace we could feel. The staff so friendly and the breakfast with homemade Kudu Salami ... jummy! The Dinner is a must. Lovely food from the Karoo introduced by the chef himself... More

Staff were sweet and tried thier best but overall the experience was dismal. Rooms were musty and severaly lacking in character. It was winter and cold, the fireplace was never lit. Only once offered a drink. Same music looped over and over again and if I hear John Denver again I might go mad. Dinner at the well known Gordon's... More

ASGHouse, Owner at Andries Stockenstrom Guest House, responded to this review

Generally when we have a negative review we take it very seriously and try our best to remedy the situation. We will respond to it as tactfully as possible and try to make good with the client. In this instance however, it is a classic example of Trip Advisor bullying. This "reviewer" is actually a "travel agent" (Thandeka Africa) who... More

In 2014 one should have Wifi that works all around the facility, TV's in every room, and even telephones in each room. Dated room and bathrooms. Towels not hung tidely on rail. Needs a fresh new life!!! Staff friendly, helpful and kind. Vegetable garden fenced with loveliest lavender is amazing!

The ASGuestHouse in Graaff Reinet is one of the great choices that we have not regretted during our South Africa trip. What a memorable stay ! We were upgraded for some (unknown) reason to the beautiful guest room (nr 6) in the garden. Actually more of a suite, with a large comfortable king size bed, a nice sofa, good bathroom... More

We were a party of six that thoroughly enjoyed two nights at Andries Stockenstrom Guesthouse in September 2014. The rooms were luxurious and spotlessly clean. The service was exceptionally good and the staff very helpful.

Our room didn't have any windows in and in my opinion looked very outdated and scruffy, as did the general surrounds of the hotel. There were also a lot of ants in our room by the door - DISGUSTING. I thought dinner was lovely - yes the portions were small but they were perfectly adequate, i think it just goes... More

On arrival we were greeted by a stand-in staff member. I did not realise she was a stand in until speaking to the owner, Rose Wright, she did a very good job. We had two nights at the Guest house and were made very welcome. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were very helpful at all times.

We have stayed twice at Andries Stockenstrom. The rooms are an oasis in a fine old town, the restaurant is exceptional, the management and staff are exceptionally welcoming. The town and the Camdeboo are worth a detour and the guest house is the perfect place to stay. What more can we say!

I had bought the chefs cook book that got a reasonable review in the Johannesburg newspapers. So on my trip passing through I decided to book a table for two for dinner. The cookbook's theme was country cooking. What a shock when the food for the night was announced. The chef and his assistant stand in the dining room and tell... More
