We are Kigali locals and stayed years ago at the old Five Volcanoes which we enjoyed. The new site, however, is a massive upgrade. We stayed last month with our three kids. The rooms are charming with plenty of luxury amenities. We were extremely well cared for by the attentive staff and the executive chef tailored our meals perfectly. The new restaurant, while not yet open, looks spectacular and will of course make for a great new addition. The pool area is also lovely. Further, the hotel is next door to the Project Rwanda (national bike team) headquarters where they have an array of E-bikes for rent and you can take off on village treks right outside the door!
The hotel is fairly close to the mountain gorillas and run by a helpful and attentive staff. Surprisingly good food and nice accommodation. It can get cold at night so they had nice touches like leaving a hot water bottle in the bed with the turndown service. We had a particularly rainy and muddy hike to see the gorillas and thankfully the hotel had someone take our shoes and completely scrub off all the mud - great service! The internet was a little spotty but that was expected and when it worked, it was good enough. Connections available both in the room and dining area.
Spent a lazy three days/nights here full-board, not leaving to visit the Volcanoes national park to look at Gorillas, trek or monkey-watch. Really lovely service, good quality rooms. Food options different each day, which was nice. Would definitely visit again. Richard, the lead waiter, is a lovely bloke - he made us feel at home. The new extension is nearly ready (in a few weeks) which gives a lovely view of one of the nearby volcanoes. The only negative is that the pool is tiny - only usable for toddler paddling, not swimming.
We went last weekend to this hotel with another couple, taking advantage of a very good offer they made to reactivate the domestic tourism. I just say that the level of the facilities is quite above the Rwandan standard. There was some problems with the cable tv and the hot water as I think we were the first guests since the covid-19 outbreak and some issues were not completely ready. Anyway, so the manager as the service did their best to make us happen a delightful staying. In fact, they were solving the issues in the best possible way (although I think that the TV was not solved) and gave us the opportunity of trying the master suite, which completely deserves that name. The best, the service and the countryside in the surroundings. Summarizing, it has been a trip to repeat and a good starting point to visit the volcanoes.…
- Pure luxury in the middle of Rwanda - Outstanding food - Although they were adding on the hotel, the property was exquisitely maintained - They also had a large beautiful pool - Rooms were beautiful and well furnished (including hair dryers and refrigerators) - Impeccable service; the staff were friendly and always way ahead of you - Gets no better than this place!
