The food was fresh with a wide variety to accommodate persons with different needs.

Your could tell the rooms were cleaned, disinfected with a seal on the door to alert the new guests.

I would especially point out to one employee by the name Nicole Kithure who went over and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. She made sure I got accommodation despite the fact that the standard rooms I had planned to stay in were fully booked.

This was our first visit to Sawela Lodge. We spent two nights (A Friday and Saturday); took an adjoining room for the kids. The first thing you notice is how clean and serene the place is. Indoors and outside. There were ongoing conferences though you didn't feel crowded by the conference guests at all.
The cleaning crew was quite efficient too, sneaking in extra hot water bottles while we were out for dinner lol! The service is fantastic! Everyone is quite helpful and friendly throughout the lodge.
It's a very child friendly establishment, though still ideal for couples. There's a small indoor and outdoor play park that had my kids (7yrs and 2yrs) entertained throughout our stay. The pool was great too, just a little on the cold side even on a hot afternoon. You are notified about this at the reception on checking in. Other guests seemed ok with the temperature though so it may just be a matter of preference. Would be great to have it heated though...
The expansive lawn is beautiful and the grounds very well maintained without looking overly manicured. You will forget the relatively harsh Naivasha climate here. My son took a bike ride through the grounds which he seemed to enjoy very much.
We enjoyed the buffet too; much more than what they call "table dot" (not sure about the spelling or what this means, forgot to ask) which is more or less similar to a la carte. This was a little underwhelming for us. Food (not buffet) was ok though felt sort of recycled. My family is a little picky with food though so this may not be other peoples' experience.
I'd also ordered a cake in advance for my husband's birthday. The whole ceremony was incredible, the staff really went out of their way to make it special for him. It was truly unforgettable!!

I would definitely go back to Sawela again. Hoping to go back before end of year lol!

We all loved it plus it helps that it's about 2hrs (or less) away from Nairobi by road. We just wanted to stay within the hotel so we never got to enjoy the activities around it. Maybe next time.

Thank you so much Danson, Mwajuma and your teams for the enjoyable and restful stay. We hope to see you all again soon.

Sawela really provided the best possible experience for my husband and I during our stay. Even in the midst of covid regulations we were served so well and taken care of in the best possible manner. Everything was conducted in a sanitary way and if you're thinking of taking a trip there don't even hesitate. You will be in safe hands! All the staff are absolutely splendid.

I do not like giving negative reviews as I like to think I am fair and reasonable, particularly so when visiting Kenya as I have family here and have been coming with my wife on a regular basis for over 35 years. However, I was not impressed by my experience here.
Firstly, my wife is a wheelchair user and our agent specifically stated as such when booking. More of this later.
My next point is regarding the roads. The last 5 miles of the route, the main road from the main highway to the hotel was over one of the worst roads I have experienced. Why is it that one of the wealthiest areas in Naivasha is accessed via a road in this condition? If I had spent 4 hours in a tour minibus from Nairobi airport and then spent the last 20 minutes being thrown about as we lurched from one pothole to the next, playing dodgems with other vehicles, I would not be impressed. Now, I am not saying this is the fault of the hotels along this road, the blame lies elsewhere, but if I were a hotel manager I would not be happy.
However, I digress! Having been allocated a room on the first floor with no lift, we pointed out the wheelchair issue. Having spent 4 hours as described above, we spend the next hour waiting to be allocated another room on the ground floor.
Whist on the subject of accessibility, they have built a new complex containing a gym, outdoor pool, children’s play area, and zebra bar, all very fine but the access to the bar was over grass, followed by 2 steps. Anyone who has pushed a wheelchair knows that 2 steps are difficult, because the chair becomes wedged.
In addition, neither the sauna nor steam room were working at the time of our visit.
The whole place feels more like a holiday camp than an African lodge, it’s too big and has no intimacy.
The buffet style food was ok but again, the dining area is vast, on two levels and feels more like a canteen.
Like all the hotels visited on this visit, we could not fault the attitude and commitment of the staff, they dealt with the situation as best they could and were never rude or impolite. The hotel was very busy on the day of our visit being Valentine’s Day, but unfortunately there was no red rose from us.

Greetings From Sawela, We dearly appreciate your review and again thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. Please accept our sincere apologies for what happened. We regret on the room allocation,The room was allocated accidentally, all the necessary measures have been put in place so as to avoid this in the near future. We also regret the state of the road that leads to the lodge, this is a government responsibility to do the repairs, we have had meetings together with the hotels along the road with the ministry in-charge and they had promised to do the repair a process which is on going... Thank you for your observation in regards to the Zebra caffee, we are working on a path way for the wheelchairs, its so unfortunate that you experience this during your stay. We welcome you again with a promise that all your concerns will have been worked upon. Kind Regards Nicholas Lemitil

I appreciate so dearly the great service that we experienced while at Sawela Lodges in Naivasha. You can believe it , but they placed a microwave in my room so that we could warm our dinner after we returned late from the busy days meetings of Rotary District conference outside!!!!!
The staff at the dining, reception, cleaning were outstanding more especially the Supervisor Nicole who personally took interest in making sure that we are comfortable.
I plan to return with my family and friends

A home away from home , beautiful green, serenity ,calm, cool 😎

My family and i just checked out of Sawela Lodges and the experience has been one of a kind, literally EVERYTHING about the hotel is meticulous, access, the staff, the rooms, the food, social amenities, set up, hygiene ( more so covid 19 protocols), EVERYTHING was well executed, our expectations were exceeded beyond our imaginations, most touching were the staff right from the security guards, cleaners, waiters/waitresses, chef, senior managers and even grounds staff were all very very warm and caring we have never experienced anything like that. Definitely this is by design and whatever the management is doing, keep it up and remain focused, we will definitely visit again and refer many of our friends. Unfortunately we have struggled in vain to find something to complain about.....regards Machio

Absolutely outstanding lodge perfectly located. Helpful, friendly staff who go above and beyond to make sure you have the best time. The lodge is very clean throughout, and our room was spacious with everything that we needed and the food was excellent .I made my reservation directly through Danson Maangi who was very helpful and quick to response. It was my hubby birthday and they gave him the best birthday surprise anyone could ever wish for, they went beyond my expectation. There was a staff member "Richard" at the restaurant who was particularly helpful always made sure my kids were satisficed during meals ,good job thanks! Mwajuma at the reception was also helpful. That was our second time and we shall be coming back soon!

We had a memorable stay at Sawela with my family. We definitely plan on coming back in the near future! The ambiance at the lodge was wonderful. We got upgraded to executive rooms which were very impressive, serene, spacious, and impeccably clean, the staff were very warm, friendly and professional and above all there was strict observance of Covid-19 measures which was very reassuring for us. We enjoyed all the activities and were pleasantly surprised to learn that there was a movie theatre for the guests to enjoy. A very big thank you to Nicole, Philip and Mary for making our stay so special and for the room upgrade.

Sawela Lodge exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a training venue that would reassure our delegates drawn from different parts of the country that we observed high hygiene standards.

From the security to the admin to the conference and catering departments they entire Sawela team was abreast with the requirements and were very firm to implement the temperature checks, wearing of masks, hand washing and social distancing.

Coupled with the modern facilities, friendly staff and well manicured gardens, your stay here will keep you and your family at ease.

First impression is everything, from the moment we entered the gate, everyone was friendly, the security personnel were ready to warmly receive us. At the reception, we were warmly welcomed as well with cold juice that was perfect for the hot sun in Naivasha. The concierge took our bags to our rooms and we felt so relieved since we were bit tired from our journey from Nairobi. The ambience in our room made me feel like extending the vacation for like two weeks!.It was so beautiful, warm and well decorated.A welcome message from the Front Office manager made us feel home and treasured. We enjoyed every meal, the service was top notch and everyone there is so warm and friendly. I had fun walking around, seeing the giraffes, swinging, sitting on the beautiful green grass and of course the exciting boat ride with the help of Isaac!
Nicole went out of her way to show us round the rooms and the entire facility and guys!Sawela is the place to be!
It's the perfect destination for families, couples, team buildings and conference meetings.
Don't worry about the capacity of your organisation, the space to hold conference meetings is ample.Despite the large number of guests, there's a personal touch to every clients.

Thanks so much Sawela for making our vacation memorable! Kuddos to the great team for your diligence and heart of service.
