This was one of the finest hotels in Kisumu in the 70s and early 80s. Current renovations, while making it look a bit modern, don't really work and have eaten away at the charm it had. OK for an overnight stop. Last visit in August 2016 the AC was not working and we had to ask for two fans. Also...

The hotel room was clean, spacious and reasonably affordable. The decor is rather dated and we struggled a bit with the shower as it wasn't getting hot. The location was good for proximity to Lwangni, Kiboko Bay, Dunga Beach and such... The parking (we drove) was ample and safe.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you chose to stay with us and found time to file this review. Thank you for the compliments regarding room cleanliness and spaciousness as well as accessible location. We apologize that the shower wasn't getting as hot but we have surely noted it and are reviewing the effectiveness of the hot water system in totality....

Nasty experience. Dirty water in taps, unruly crowds criss-crossing near sleeping quarters. Security risk. Average food. The management was well aware of the issue but did nothing. Nice breakfast though

Just about everything at the Kisumu Hotel is worn out, from the plumbing to the air conditioning and the televisions, from the crockery to the curtains. The staff are a mixture of wonderful and amateurish: now you're served by the former, now by the latter. At least the location is very central.

A spacious hotel in heart of Kisumu CBD. It got a great pool which gives you nice breeze. Unfortunately management needs to up their game. Check in was average taking over twenty minutes where the two persons at reception discussed something in their mother tongue. When I was ready to dip into bath tub I realized I did not have...

Poor service. People attending to us hardly put on a smile. The rooms looked liked they were from the 1980s with worn out furniture. Rusty shower equipment. Pathetic range and quality of food for breakfast. Noise from bodabodas and tuktuks just outside the street made sleeping difficult. Poor lighting in the corridors. Only thing that was good was the WiFi...

I have been in and out of Kisumu Hotel on several occasions, mostly attending workshops and seminars. The hotel is too just ordinary and does not fit the pricing. My room was large but was located next to the maintenance department so i requested for a room change. The other room assigned to me had discolored water and the heater...

Hotel is an old colonial hotel perched in the middle of Kisumu City in Western Kenya. The hotel is located in a good place, right in the center of town yet exclusive. The rooms are average in comparison to those in smaller hotels within the town. I usually stay here in my visits but occasionally have been let down by...

Dear Herbert, Thank you for frequently staying with us, complimenting where we have met your expectations and letting us know where to improve. We take much exception to concerns over cold water and air-conditioning and are addressing them. Karibu!

Great location and big rooms but that is it. No energy at all from the staff. The wall to wall carpet in the rooms is no good and has stains all over, musty smelling rooms. Not at all inviting to stay after a hard days job in the heat.

Thank you for this review. We appreciate the compliments as we do the concerns regarding the carpeted room you stayed in. We have replaced carpets with alternate flooring in all except VIP rooms due to the hot climes in Kisumu. When you next visit, I assure it will be a lot more memorable!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on 13 December 2014. Having stayed here several times before, we enjoy the functionality and accessibility of this hotel to every corner of Kisumu and the airport at a very decent cost of USD 70 for a standard double room with ample secure parking. Also sandwiched between 2 trendy malls. Good and...
