I wanted some quiet time while I worked on a project. Kericho Tea Hotel was an excellent choice. The facilities are rather run down but that sort of gives the place character. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was a set menu but one could also order snacks. Needs some renovation in places. Excellent garden and views... More

This is a good place. I stayed at the cottages and I really enjoyed the serene environment. Waking up in the morning offered me a lush tea plantation overlooking my room that looked so beautiful with the rising sun. Reception was so good. I had booked previously on phone. But when I got there, surveyed the rooms, I changed my... More

We arrived at the Tea Hotel looking for camping. We didn't expect to stumble across a hidden gem. What a great place. The place is beat, BUT it has the type of kitch atmosphere that made it more than just a place to sleep but rather an experience. The restaurant is good and cheap and the tea fields starting in... We went here for afternoon tea and must say still the same and it was cosy with the fire burning in the hallway. This place is beautiful and even better if you play golf as a lot of people playing this game here. The course is well kept and this hotel is also very nice and you find a lot... More

We grew to love the Tea Hotel. At first we thought it was a disaster, still with it's original 50's decor and furniture, faded glory was an understatement. We negotiated a good price for a room ( residents get a different rate than foreigners which is a unfair practice in Kenya). Breakfast was included. There was good free wifi and... More

In March I stayed at this hotel on two occasions. The second occasion it was so bad that I checked out and went to a local B and B. It is very expensive hotel charging Nairobi prices for a village experience. The wi-fi does not work in any of the guest rooms and if you are very lucky in the... More

This is the best in town even though it is run down - it says much for the paucity of the competition. The gardens are beautiful, the cottages in idyllic positions, the staff friendly but poorly paid or motivated. Surprisingly the set dinner was very good. Unfortunately the bedding is old, though clean, and the bathrooms vast but immured in... More

We stayed one night in a cottage and while it met our need for some quiet, it was far from a pleasant night. The mattress was rock hard; the mosquito net didn't fit the bed; there was no cold water running so the toilet didn't flush and we couldn't shower in the morning. The buildings are wonderful however in desperate... More

The Tea Hotel is a wonderful experience of Kenya's colonial past. Built in 1952, the hotel appears to have gone through few renovations since then. The grounds are expansive and beautiful, but it is obvious that its glory days are past. The rooms was very reasonable (3,300 ksh, or about $33) and large. The grounds included a restaurant and bar,... More

We stayed at the Tea hotel for 4 nights, including new years eve. As we travel on a budget the tourist price was too steep for our pockets, so we gave it a shot and called them one day before travelling to Kericho from Homa Bay and asked if they could give us a better deal. And..Ta Da!! Resident rates... More
