Haile experience Gondar is one of the places i had the worst experience at. The hotel is completely below standard and does not deserve to even be open. The facilities are worn out and unfunctional, toilet smells sooo bad, sheets are not changed or even clean, phones don’t work, service is miserable, staff are un professional, laundry is very expensive and results of washed cloth are vey un satisfactory. I had asked to be brought a menu to my room and it took them well over 30 minutes to deliver and was told that more than half of the food items on the menu are not available. On the next day i had called and asked for room service specifying my room number and the food item i wanted and wasn’t delivered for 1hr and 30 min so i called back to check the status and i was informed that the food item is not available and they had forgotten my room number or that they even had to inform me. I believe this specific hotel is a disgrace to the brand.…
We spent a week at this hotel while in Gondar. The staff are fives stars in service and hospitality. This hotel is very clean. At all times you can see staff cleaning every where. Food is really good. Nice pool. Gorgeous view from the whole property. Would stay here again for sure.
It should be an ok place to stay as the rooms are big and there’s a pool terrace and everything but what a mess of a place this is. The food is appalling - like the service, which is infuriatingly unhelpful. We asked for a one day laundry service and three days later our clothes hadn’t shown up - because they’d lost them! We did find them in the end after a long and unpleasant row w the receptionist. Awful and not cheap either. Rooms are full of mosquitos. Never again.
Don’t let the appearance fool you! The hotel looks good on outside but things just don’t work properly there. Stayed in Jan 2019 and it had been a a month or two under the new management. It was called “Gonder Landmark Hotel” before the change. When I arrived, I noticed two things - first, some construction work in the lawn of the hotel. It did not bother me. Second, I’m almost the only guest in the hotel! Not a good sign. The hotel lobby and the room itself looked okay at first. But when I stayed in the room longer, and used its bathroom, problems started to surface. The flush of the toilet was slow, so I called for service. Then there was no hot water for shower. I asked the staff for help. They came, tried many ways to fix it, coming in and out, first promised that it would be fixed in 30 min, then 15 min more, then one more hour..... and finally brought me to other two or three rooms to check out the water there. Of course, there was no hot water too and I didn’t bother to change room though the conditions of the other rooms were slightly better. I finally didn’t have a shower. Next morning, I went down to breakfast and the choice was horribly little. I’m the only one eating and yet they put on something like a buffet but without any meaningful choices. It was absurdly surreal. Afterwards, I made up my mind and cut short of my stay there. I originally booked for two nights but left after the first. Alas, the staff knew the problems and let me check out. What a mistake to stay here.…
My partner and I had just finished a four day trek in the mountains, and Haile Resort was the perfect conclusion to our journey. The reception was very welcoming, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. Wifi was a bit spotty, but all other amenities were spot on. Breakfast was exceptional. Would stay again!
Stayed one night before hiking Simien Mt.. the photos don't do this place justice. They picked me up from the airport despite my delayed flight without issue. The staff are extremely helpful, even lending me their own charger cable, and the food is amazing. Best Gomen I have ever had, delicious! The bed was super comfy, and yes the bathroom wasn't perfect but overall exceeded expectations!! Great value! I would stay here again no doubt.
I stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. Started with a welcome drink. Very spacious room and bathroom, hot water, all bath amenities are available. Check in/out in a seconds. Nice room view. Breakfast was great. Very friendly staff and service. Amazing swimming pool but no time to try. A great play area for the kids. WiFi was super fast in lobby as well as the room. Thank you Haile Resort Gondar. Highly recommended.
We stayed here for one night before going on a trek in the Simien mountains and had a great time, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the restaurant is very extensive with many options including a very large buffet. The staff looked after us at every turn and of note the Sales and marketing manager Ambachew Alie rescued the day for us when he removed a corrupt tour operator and then in 15 mins had a trip booked for half of our original price. I think for the $60 dollars we paid (for 2) this is the best run hotel we stayed at in Ethiopia.
Had a nice stay, It was clean, in a good location ( near to the castle and historic church), served a great breakfast & the staff were incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend & would certainly stay here again.
This hotel is part of the Haile Resort chain and would get a 5 rating if all projected amenities available. Currently extensive work being done. Staff are charming. So helpful. Even standard rooms are decent size with everything needed including hairdryer. The rooms do get hot as catch a lot of sun. Tiled floors throughout. Plenty of plugs ( 2 and 3 pin). Breakfast buffet very good with mixture of local and western cuisine. All well prepared. Restaurant and terrace menu extensive and freshly cooked. More expensive than eating out but reasonable all the same. Large outside areas with views over city of local life. The 2 pools are good size and there is play area for children. The sleep quality was good . Only negative showers took ages to run warm which is not environmentally friendly. Wifi good enough for those who care. Free airport shuttle.…
