The hotel has nice rooms and also really bad rooms; we book 2 month in advance yet we end-up with no room because management can't organize themselves properly. There is mosquitoes everywhere at night with no repellents put in place for guests.

Keep in mind that daily power cuts are a reality in Burkina Faso (for the few areas that actually have electricity) and that slow internet is as well, but for a so-called 4-star hotel, there should be a generator and working internet. Alas, neither exist. For the prices this hotel charges, especially at the restaurant, there should be better services in that regard.

Having now traveled to 168 countries I have seen a lot and stayed in some “strange” places but this hotel totally takes the prize for the worst ever. Let’s start with the arrival where you have to place all your bags on a small table outside the hotel and an armed, uniformed soldier manually searches through every one. Then you pass through a metal detector. We had booked a suite but to our shock both the suites were on the ground floor with a view of a solid wall just a few feet away. The regular rooms are on floors 1-4. Why any hotel would put it’s most expensive rooms on the ground floor with no view at all is beyond me. We asked to see a regular double room and were taken to one on the 4th floor which, while less than half the size, had a balcony with a decent view rather than being in a dungeon so we took this. There was only one set of towels and we had to ask several times for another. We were only given one key card and when we asked for a second were told we could only have one. The A/C only works when the card is in the slot so we had to cut out a piece of cardboard to put there so that the room wasn’t sweltering in the 100+F heat while we were out. The safe didn’t work so they brought a replacement. There are no reading lamps by the bed which is two singles pushed together and there is no kettle or coffee maker. The front desk girl was as unpleasant as it’s possible to be and should not be working in the hospitality business. In fact that applies to most of the staff. The internet connection is agonizingly slow. The buffet breakfast hardly had anything and what was there was of very poor quality and the pastries were stale. The biggest shock however was when we were told that only one breakfast comes with each room even if you are paying for a double so you have to pay extra for the second person. Eggs cost extra and if you want cheese in your omelet that is also extra.

We were taken here by good friends for a meal and given a guided door of the hotel first. The environment was pleasant, the quality of the furnishings of a very high standard and the view from the roof impressive. This hotel has grown rapidly over the last few years and now has 5 floors with a breakfast area on the top floor giving spectacular views of the city of Bobo Dioulasso. The meal, as with most Burkinabe restaurants, was good bit not exceptional. It is best when in Burkina Faso to always ask what is unavailable before looking at the menu in any detail, and this was no exception. Various items of both food and drink were unavailable. Having said that, the food was acceptable and the price not excessive by European standards -£85 for 5 people including drinks. Not my favourite restaurant in Bobo but I would certainly come back again.

I had a good two day stay here. My room seemed to be newly renovated and was large, bright with a very upgraded bathroom. One large and one small pool. Pizza oven . We had pizza one night, tasted great but they should not have covered w foil as that causes it to lose crunch. Basic breakfast available w room.
