This is something really special. Far from the cookie cutter 5+++++ star experiences that Botswana has in spades, this more rustic yet still luxury camp is where you can really get to the heart of the Delta. The staff here treat you like family - and an afternoon zooming through the channels of the delta on a boat with your guide is an unforgettable experience. Mopiri is a little more rustic and rough round the edges than other glitzy camp but therein lies its charm - you’re here to see the real Botswana after all, and this is where you will find it. 10/10
In general, i would say the service was good, in fact, excellent. very friendly staff. The room i was given was very beautiful, i liked everything about it especially the bathroom, it was to die for with all that view, very heavenly. the location of the camp is actually what i really needed, surrounded by water and wild animals, a great experience indeed. I However did not enjoy the food especially the breakfast. i feel like it was a bit light to even take us through to lunch. working on the breakfast menu would be very appreciated.
3 nights (during COVID-19) tented accommodation was very nice, with a lovely view of the lagoon. Though the camp was indeed right on a lagoon for the most part you wouldn’t know it as vegetation had been allowed to grow so high most views (from the main camp area, and in front of most other tents) were almost entirely blocked. Service was very good and attentive but food, fare and facilities were ‘bog standard’ at best. Water cruises were good (this is a water camp so no game drives and, as a result, little game) but I worry that after November the channel out of the lagoon to other, nicer, lagoons will be blocked as water levels fall, and water cruises will be restricted to cruises round and round the camp’s lagoon. Bird life was good.
The adventure starts with the 15mins drive on a sandy road to the boat where we met lots of elephants. My kids loved the “dikhwaere” welcome and the aquatic delta lifestyle. My 8mnth old was well cared for.
The Location is excellent for individuals interested in the aquatic aspect of the Okavango Delta. The food was excellent and I would have loved to have spent more time in the camp to experience more of the cuisine that is available. The rooms are excellent and do not feel at all like you are camping, they are the definition of "glamping". I enjoyed my stay and would definitely be returning hopefully I will catch a fish next time and the chef can prepare it for me.
