It takes over an hour to get from the roadside car park into this lodge via truck and boat but the journey is stunning. We were looked after by Adam who also took us out on a mokoro around the nearby waters, requiring a lot of effort this time of year when waters are receding. Apart from admiring the view... More

We drove over the border from Namibia, which turned out to be easily done, and arrived at a strange village rendezvous for the Nxamaseri lodge. we abandoned our car to be driven to a boat and then taken across the water to the lodge through some stunning scenery and wild life. The arrival makes quite an impact and the Lodge... More

My wife and I recently competed our third visit to Nxamaseri Okavango River Lodge in northwestern Botswana. We did this as an add-on to a photographic safari in the Okavango Delta farther south. We arrived in Africa in Johannesburg and overnighted at the Intercontinental Hotel at the airport before taking the 90 minute South African Air flight to Maun in... More

We weren't sure what we were going to do at this river camp, as we don't fish, but were gently persuaded out of our comfort zone and ended up trying everything! Our guide, 'Fish', who seemed to know every inch of the area, told us a lot about the traditional way of life and showed us round the island where... More

Everything was terrific - accomodation , fishing , meals including my vegetarian meals and staff all very friendly ! Nothing to fault. Saw lots of elephants and crocs along with the barbels and tiger fish but I didn't see any hippos. The guys were really happy with the fishing!

We (two couples who travel the world together) had not visited northern Okavango before but had great expectations. We were delighted with Nxamaseri Lodge. It is an authentic "bush" experience at its best. The rooms are basic but perfectly comfortable. They look into undergrowth rather than over the river, which is a pity, but this offers a respite from the... More

This is one of the most beautiful camps / lodges in the Okavango panhandle region. With access to the main channel for boat trips or fishing, this is a great place to come with the family for adventure or with your partner to relax. The staff are very welcoming and the food is very homely. One of my favourites!

My wife and I made our second visit to Nxamaseri Island Lodge in September 2014, two years after our first visit. As in 2012, we added three full days at Nxamaseri to a 10 day safari, this time in Kenya. We connected from Nairobi with an overnight in Johannesburg before we flew to Maun, Botswana, on South African Airways, where... More

Great place to visit, particularly if you love fishing (in the relevant months) or just to visit other wise. A good birding area too. Tiaan and his team really go out of their way to look after you. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

We loved our stay here. Charming host with excellent staff. The food was very good . It is just a beautiful place. The cabins are secluded and surrounded by jungle with monkeys in the trees. At night you could hear hippos grunting in the water nearby. The highlight was tiger fishing and our canoe trip to secret spot . Lots... More

“We stayed in Room #1, which is to the right of the lodge if you approach from the dock. There are other rooms on this side and some on the other side of the lodge, including a "double" that could accommodate a family. A pool is being added on this side also. All of the rooms are a short walk on an elevated board walk from the main lodge building.”
