Our stay with Morris and his family was fantastic. Morris is very welcoming. I would recommend his pick up and drop off from the airport as it is good value for Tanna and very convenient. We loved the simple accommodation with a view of the volcano. The volcano itself is incredible, easily the most amazing thing I have ever seen.... More

Morris, Suzie and their kids made us feel like family. So friendly, accommodating and helpful with our 3yo and baby. Our son cried saying goodbye! The view of the volcano was breathtaking and you could see it breathe at day and night, even lava at times! You could also hear it, boom! Rooms basic but clean upon arrival. Surprisingly cool... Morris and a friend met us and drove us into town where we waited for some time and did some grocery shopping. Eventually we drove across the island to the village where Morris lives and has his bungalows. We stayed in one of the bungalows that survived the cyclone. It was wonderful! With a view of the volcano through the... More

Having set up the Tanna visit by text from England with Morris, we were amazed that on landing at the tiny cyclone damaged Whitegrass airport, there he was waiting for us on time wearing his yellow company T- shirt and a big smile. The two hour transfer along the testing island dirt track by a very capable all-terrain vehicle was... More

This is the place to stay if you want to experience the 'Real Tanna'. The bungalows are comfortable and the grounds are beautiful. The volcano rumbling away constantly in the background is something that isn't replicated anywhere else in the world. Thank you so much to Morris and Susie and your delightful children for your wonderful hospitality and for sharing... More

Thank you Morris, Susie and family for an amazing stay at your place! We only stayed for a couple of nights in mid-July but enjoyed every minute on Tanna. We've hardly seen any damage from cyclone PAM and the island was all green again as the picture can tell - Morris and Tanna island are definitely waiting for you, do... More

This is the real Vanuatu! We had three wonderful nights with Morris and his family who will do anything in their power to make your stay as good as it can possibly be. The five kids help out as best they can and oldest son Matthew gave us fresh coconuts that he found on his way from school and guided... More

These bungalows, the village and the owners are nothing short of beautiful. Morris and his family are quite possibly the loveliest people I've ever met. They were so genuine and it was humbling to be made to feel so welcome and be thanked so much for visiting. Morris arranged everything for us, transport, guides, food, traditional dance, etc. Morris met... More

I stayed with Morris Poita and his lovely family for 4 nights at the end of April 2015, just 5 weeks after cyclone Pam. I was a bit apprehensive getting there and traveling on my own but as an experienced traveler i followed my nose. I definitely found the best place to stay and people to stay with. The volcano... If you can do with very basic bathroom options you will get a 100% authentic island experience. Sitting on the porch in the evening watching the red glow over the rim is priceless. Morris and Suzie try everything to make guests feel like home. You can walk to the volcano in an hour or so, the way back is a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the East Side of the island, these bungalows have a stunning view overlooking Tanna's most famous landmark, the volcano Mt Yasur. The thatched bungalows are in Imayo, a small village in the middle of the Tannese bush, accessible by road from Lenakel and White Sands airport. The village is just over an hour's walk to the Volcano caldera (or a fifteen minute car ride), and also close to nearby hot springs, caves, waterfalls and the popular anchorage of Port Resolution. The extremely friendly owner, Morris Poita, has worked in various Tanna guesthouses and lives in Imayo village. The two bungalows can house up to eight guests and Morris is able to arrange food and transportation. Volcano Island Paradise Bungalow is perfect for visitors keen to experience a genuine slice of island life. The amenities are basic, but the experience is unforgettable.Rates: VT1500 per person per night (inc. breakfast), VT500 per meal (excludes transportation to Imayo). ... more   less
