We did a hike from Leticia to Calderon valley. 3 days in the Amazon jungle, great experience. 20km to the camp, 5km to visit community. A total of 50km hike, but worth doing it. The organisation by Amazon Holidays was great, we had an unforgettable stay! Hiking, fishing our dinner, hunting at night, sleeping in hammocks, swimming in small river,...

You have take a taxi to there or you can take the colectivos from city center and get off on the main road then you will walk all the path inside the selva (forest). It is not too far, we did the second one, took the colectivo and then walk inside. It was tiresome if you have a heavy luggage...

Saw some good reviews and booked a week at Albergue Tacana two months ago. Nearer the day I was a bit nervous about being alone out in the Jungle but it was really fine. The Tacana river was about ten minutes walk from cabin and I really enjoyed swimming in the mornings. There were monkeys in the trees around the...

Just spent 7 nights at the lodge. Very different from other places I have stayed. Run by two Indian ladies who were really attentive and very genuine. Rooms are clean and tidy , basically wooden cabins with tiled bathrooms. Loads of fruits and plants in the grounds , humingbirds all around . The vilage has a couple of bars but...

I spent 3 nights in Albergue Tacana with my partner. Our purpose was to enjoy and try out something completely different from the normal and too-civilized life and we found the perfect match for it in Albergue. Even though, it is far away from Leticia on foot, it is a lovely place to be and to relax. The service is...

We have never done a "package tour" before, but Steve set up everything for our family. He selected places to go, hikes, and river trips that were perfect for the whole family. The kids (ages 5 and 8) never complained and were able to enjoy the trip as much as the adults. The rooms were clean and had complete mosquito...

We had an exceptionally warm welcome from Steve and Elena (the owners) - two of the friendliest and most helpful people we´ve met in South America. Steve is a wealth of local knowledge, and, although we didn´t undertake any of the jungle activities/excursions that they offer (because we had already had a lengthy jungle éxperience´ in Iquitos), there was a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located at the deepest point in the forest that can be reached by road from Leticia. The house and cabanas are built from traditional materials by local indigenous craftsmen. The setting and ambience of Tacana is very laid back, our guests can enjoy the rainforest around us and also get an insight into the indigenous life and culture. Whilst still enjoying some of the creature comforts that make a good holiday. Early risers can expect to see a variety of birds including Toucans, Lorokeets, hummingbirds and Mochilero birds in the trees around the properties as well as our resident blue and gold macaw Paco. ... more   less
