Was expecting a fairly basic hotel. But the Palico de Sal is a stunning building, beautifully constructed, with interesting architecture and superb rooms. Easy check in and warm welcome, room was large, well appointed with great bathroom, good shower and a good nights sleep! Views across the salt flats and stunning sun set from most of the rooms. Large restaurant with buffet dinner and breakfast offering a wide selection of very good food. Great service and easy check out. Having stayed in Uyuni before,I would certainly recommend coming out to the salt hotel- a great placebo stay!
Driving up to the hotel, the facade is impressive. The inside is well-decorated and very warm. We upgraded to a suite with a seating area, bathroom, and sleeping area. The walls, dome ceiling, and bottom of the bed are all made of salt. The beds were comfortable with a heated blanket. The shower was nice and hot. Our only complaint was the bathroom door was a little hard to open. The restaurant was made up to be fancy. The food was pretty good considering it’s out in the the middle of nowhere. I really enjoyed it stay here and wished we could have spent the next night here instead of at Tayka de Desierto. It’s such a nice reprieve from the long, dusty, and bumpy roads in the area.
This unique hotel on the edge of the salt plains was quite amazing. At first glance it seems a simple design until you realize most of the hotel is itself constructed from salt. My room was spacious with a lounge area, writing desk etcetera. The bathroom was again very large with heated towel rails and luxurious toiletries. The bed comfort was excellent. The mineral pool and spa was divine. The was a gym and massage salon for those so inclined. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the restaurant had a n extensive menu of local and international cuisine. Free Wifi was excellent. Two glorious days there, could have spent more. The staff were exceptional. Owned by Hidalgo Tours nothing was left to chance. Touring the salt plains with their excellent Tour Guide Victor Rodrigues Alvarez, and driver Reynaldo Yanez was a sheer joy. Watching the sun set sipping a wine and enjoying an array of tasty snacks made for the perfect end of the day. Thank you one and all.…
The hotel is indeed beautiful and the facilities are wonderful, but our room wasn't so much a room as a closet - indeed, it was so small that there wasn't any room for a closet! So we had to leave our stuff on the floor or on chairs, and there was hardly space to move around. This may have been because the hotel was full, and normal rooms might be different. But I'd not go there again without verifying this point.. The spa was lovely.
An oasis in the Uyuni / Salar area. Well appointed with courteous staff. Food, whilst not gourmet, was good, fresh and plentiful. Only wished we had stayed an extra day to fully appreciate the facilities and the stunning views. My only and minor concern is that there are no closets or drawers to put clothes, so one has to live out of suitcase or put clothes etc on the floor.
