We planned to do our daughter's wedding at Patios de Cafayate in December 2021. Unfortunately, due to Covid we had to cancel and instead she and her husband had a very small wedding where they live, in USA. We decided to come back to Argentina for a vacation and spend time in Patios. Our experience could not have been better! Beautiful hotel, location and service. The manager and the employees were very attentive to details. Beautiful rooms and amenities. I highly recommend for spending the night , or if short on time, at least to try the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

From August 8th to August 9th, 2022, I stayed at Patios de Cafayate, while visiting the North part of Argentina and I must say, what an amazing hotel!!!! The personnel was SUPER friendly and helpful. I was able to attend the winery tour and take a horseback ride through the vineyards thanks to the front desk crew that arranged everything on my behalf. THANK YOU GUYS!!!! The room was very clean and spacious. I loved how the room was decorated, I felt like in those period films, amazing taste. The restaurant was great, top cuisin, a fusion between international food and local dishes, very tasty and a great selection of local wines. And the cherry on the top was that I was able to arrange from the Hotel, a hot air balloon ride over Cafayate, a lifetime experience!!! It is a MUST! Cafayate is so magical from the sky! As you can read, in 2 days I was able to do a lot! Great memories and all thanks to the help of the Patios de Cafayate crew!!!! Stay there, you will love it!

This is a very luxurious and smart (and expensive) hotel located on the grounds of El Esteco winery in the Calchaqui Valley on the outskirts of the town of Cafayate. The hotel wasn’t in the best location for accessing the town amenities as it was about a half hour walk or 5 minute taxi journey from the centre of town, but it was tranquil and quiet. The grounds were absolutely stunning, with a big pool and views out over expansive vineyards. We loved the hotel restaurant which served amazing food at tables set looking out over the pool and the vineyards beyond. The air conditioning didn’t work in our room. The staff worked hard to try and fix it, but when they couldn’t they moved us to a different room and we were given an upgraded rooms. This was the perfect professional response. We visited with our kids who were made to feel relaxed and welcomed. At no point did we feel that we were a nuisance or burden. Breakfast was very good, possibly the best we’ve had in Argentina. We ate a lunch and a dinner at the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was amazing. Yes this hotel has high prices for Argentina but if you are looking for a treat and a luxury experience it hits all the buttons.

I didn’t want to leave. This is a calm, green paradise, full of birds and birdsong. I’d spent the day driving routes 33 and 40 from Salta to Cafayate via Cachi. It was an uplifting day, but hot and dusty. There couldn’t have been a better place to end up and the combination of the exhilarating drive and the beautiful hotel made it my favourite day of two weeks in Argentina. The estate’s wine is very good. Guests are served a complementary glass of torrontes at 7pm in the lounge and there’s plenty of opportunity to try other wines over dinner. My favourite was a fragrant dessert wine - a torrontes tardes. The food is delicious and the terrace is a lovely place for dinner and breakfast. You can help yourself to freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast and, while there isn’t a huge spread, quality is good. The coffee from the urn was surprisingly good and I went back for more. My room was spacious, if slightly old fashioned and the water temperature in the shower was erratic. I liked the place so much that I would call that character rather than being irritated by it. The only noise I heard was the birdsong starting around 4am and I’m not going to complain about that either. It couldn’t be less corporate. It’s friendly, welcoming and very beautiful.

We loved it. We only wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel reminds me of a luxurious Estancia. They have beautiful grounds, small gardens for quiet time, a wonderful restaurant and great wine. If you have time, they have horses, a pool and beautiful places for a stroll. Plus is a winery. They make great wine. This hotel was a treasure for us after a long day of touring. It was heaven at the end of the day.

Stayed two nights at this hotel whilst visiting the southern part of Salta. It is an absolutely gorgeous hotel located inside El Esteco winery. (Very much reminiscent of wine estates in South Africa). Although the hotel is relatively new, it has been built to resemble an old country hotel with most of the rooms facing courtyards (Patios). The rooms are spacious with heavy furnishings and comfortable beds. In the main area of the hotel there are a couple of rather nice rooms to enjoy a beverage before dinner. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food was adequate, but uninspiring and nothing memorable. Breakfast was by far the weakest link, as the offerings were quite limited. The biggest issue is service (or rather lack of). Unlike in similar wine making regions, in Cafayate there aren’t that many top-notch hotels and, possibly because of this lack of competition, service at Patios de Cafayate is very very average (which is a polite way of saying “poor”). The list of seemingly minor details is just too long to ignore. In the two days we were at this property: it was impossible to call the front desk from our rooms, we saw a poor fellow guest hauling 4 large suitcases from the parking lot because he couldn’t contact anybody in the hotel to help him, we got wrong information about times for a wine tour in English in El Esteco, had to remind staff at the restaurant multiple times of specific items in the order (only to eventually give up). The icing on the cake was being told that cocktails could not be ordered before 8:00pm because the staff were busy preparing for dinner. This might be acceptable at a B&B, but not at a hotel at this price point.

My husband and I first visited the Esteco Bodega for the Horse Riding tour around the vines, followed by a wine tasting accompanied with a lovely cheese platter. Also we learned about the wine making process and the enologist was very knowledgeable and had a great sense for hospitality. The Esteco Bodega is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed this experience and the fantastic vines! After we had seen how healthy and well kept the horses were as well as meeting the friendly gauchos, we decided to come back for a 4 hour horse ride, leading along a river and the beautiful sand dunes of cafayate. Rodolfo the owner of the horses was easy to communicate with and we had an unforgettable time, enjoying the breathtaking scenery. The horses listen very well and are generally calm, happy & peaceful. Nicholas the gaucho who accompanied us was a great guy and it was very interesting to learn about the Argentinian horsemanship. This place is a MUST for all horse (& wine) lovers! Thank you for these special memories and we hope to come back one day :)

We travelled 12.000 km to stay at this hotel, in connection with our 4 week wine tour in Argentina, from Patagonia to the Salta region. They did not serve the offered and ordered wine to us, during dinner - also not after contacting the waiter and even not after contacting the two different hotel managers, who where the only English speaking staff in the hotel- and this happened two evenings. Instead of solving the problem, they just disappeared without solving the problem - and without offering any alternative wine, from their long wine list. Also, this hotel has a big noisy industry next door, with a Ø2 meter huge and very noisy propeller fan, which they run 24 hours a day - right next to the restaurant, the pool and the hotel rooms etc. - making it difficult to relax and sleep at night. Further, this hotel only has WiFi in the main building, which results in many business guests working on their computers, in the restaurant and at the pool. Finally, I went for a walk arould the hotel and the big industrial El Esteco winery, where there was chemical poisen plastic bottles lying on the ground, where the wine plants are growing.
