We thoroughly enjoyed our local ales and local charm and were made to feel very welcome by the staff as we sat by the warm log fire. Children enjoyed a game of cards from behind the bar and the elderflower cider was certainly a...

Good food good service lovely friendly staff especially Liz. Will go again to enjoy a very English traditional experience. I didn't stay in the B and B but a friend did and he enjoyed his stay. This little gem is out of the way but has plenty of parking.

We visited The Compasses for one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who showed us to our room. The rooms are separate from the main pub so you don't have to worry if you're returning from somewhere after the pub closes - you'll be able to let yourself in....

Visiting the area for a friend's wedding we stayed at The Compasses for one night. It is a proper pub, not a plastic made over gastro place but a proper pub with real beer. The food range is good and the huffers are legendary (you'll have to visit to find out what they are!) Breakfast was perfect - well cooked,...

Always a delight to visit the friendly Compasses. Beer is always a highlight and, on previous occasions, the food. This time were there for the Hopstock Beer Festival. Well run and not too overcrowded it was a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Stayed here for one night, pub was closed in arrival but a local I encountered on the road found me the owner! Very helpful locals and staff! They were happy to get me some food ready, which I ate in my room (not the easiest thing to do but better than being hungry!). Lovely clean room and bathroom, plenty of...
